a question - maybe I'm missing something again

When this last block was found

1638   442696   dance191.S7073   12.62283379   2016‑12‑09 19:34:49

these 2 blocks had matured

1637   442364   16hNunxPKj42L1RihiX2…   13.50956780   2016‑12‑07 16:27:32
1636   442267   luckyant.2x76   12.75761690   2016‑12‑07 01:55:06

so these should have been paid out?  when we hit 1638.

Last block paid was

1635   442256   PolishBatBoy_ants7_05   13.23146873   2016‑12‑07 00:30:56
Yeah I said that in the previous post Tongue

Edit:
The run of bad luck in July/August coincidentally stopped not long after I banned an IP address from *Hash.
I seem to be seeing more  *Hash now coming in via MRR (which is just stupid ...)
Maybe I need to ban all rental mining instead so we can at least get an idea if any of the above is caused by something else ...

If you doubt, do it Tongue

I guess there were less txns available (less than) 6s after the previous block.
I'm running -ck's recent changes that should always fill the block if possible (though it's now twice as long to do block changes with 0.13.0)
Oh, yeah also, that restart about 11 hours ago was about pointing ckpool at (what is now) a faster bitcoind.
So it didn't pick up the payout transactions.
Sorry about that - they'll be in the next block.

Whats a good time length for a rentals ban to get decent stats? 30 days? 60days?
It's not a time period, it's total hashes that matter. If you rent 10PH it wouldn't take very long to get a decent sample...

No, 10 days isn't enough to get anything statistically valid.
That's actually the biggest problem in all this, the amount of data required to see 'partial' problems is very large.

Edit: also there's the issue of looking only at luck.
Withholding won't stop the current valid miners finding blocks.
We of course expect to see runs of both good and bad luck.

I think its worth a try personally. The people using the rentals can always use them on another pool. A smaller one where the payout would be larger perhaps?

Well...FWIW...if one sees a whole lotta correlation, the only way to test for actual causation is controlled data sets.

Go for it.

EDIT: Of course, that coming from one who doesn't rent hash...  Roll Eyes

Last 500 Blocks: 22.3wks (5.5 months ) 97.03% PPS
may be it's S9's effect ?
I'll post up the numbers again some time much later.

Basically yes the luck for S9v1 has been low - about 20 less blocks than expected since they've been mining directly here.
It's CDF has been hovering around 0.98
However there's also a cgminer version 4.9.2 that is low (by about 10 blocks) that includes the avalon A6, but I can't tell specifically if they are all A6 or not.

Both the new versions S9v2 and A7 stats are better than those above.

a 10 day hash rental ban would at least  help a bit.

If luck goes over 100% for the 10 days . I suspect it is bad gear pointed here on purpose.

If you figure  25ph is normal gear and 5ph is bad.  it would lower luck from 105% to 87.49 %

25/30 x 105 = 87.49

we are at 32.8 ph   if 2.8 ph  was bad

30/32.8 x 105 = 96.04%

or

30/32.8 = 91.46%

my point is  only 2.8ph in bad gear would hurts us badly.

Looks like our block was less than 30 seconds from the previous network block, so not much time to fill it up and send it out to the workers...  My guess only, tho.

-Edit - Kano-san's on the case!

HI all,

i have about 65 bitmain S5s that have been off to close to 8 months now. what do you guys think should i work on bringing them back up as i feel they are luck machines for some reson Huh
You should totally bring them back online!  Look, you just mention how lucky they are and we finally crack that damnable Block!  Imagine the Blockalanche we'll have when they're actually running on the pool!

Bring it!! Cheesy

Ill see how many i can run im capped out at moment with my rigs and ibelinks. i am thinking to take the ibelinks offline for awhile and bring some S5s online. hopefully i can get about 30 online some time next week with the weather cooling off..

Just pointed x6 A7.

2x A7 left unboxed since there are no Power supplies left.

Was soloing with no luck.

Oh well.

Tomorrow the PSU kit from Optim I will get and change all the power supplies.

8x A7 will be pointed here in total.

4x more units are planned to be purchased.

Mine on! Lets make it a green block party!
