really sorry to double post bear with me
1 minute later I sent all the money from that wallet to coinbase.

and now about a day later all frozen.   So what does this have to do with S.P.V.  mining  over the last 24 hours we made more then 225 blocks and many were empty blocks due to S.P.V. mining.

I am not anti Chinese  I buy gear from China and I continue to mine with F2pool  I like them I also mine with antpool I like them .  I also mine with cksolo pool and mmpool.org.   I have mined at this pool quite a bit.  Back to S.P.V.  I will count how many empty blocks were made out of a 225 block day.

387575 ,387578,387588,387598,387604,387605,387610,387615,387616,387617,387631,387646,387657,387661

13 of the first one hundred blocks made were 1 or 2 transactions . That would be about 13,000 transactions not processed in under ½ a day.

If I count the other 125 blocks made today I will be near 30 empty blocks.  This does not help bitcoin. With regret I will most likely have to stop at f2pool.  Once I see the havoc wreaked by more then 20,000 transactions not done in a day how can I mine there?

look at this set of  screen shots  please:

Yeah those numbers regarding empty blocks are both SPV and non-SPV pools.

But they show quite clearly that empty blocks are the bane of bitcoin already.

I guess with your txns you basically need to make sure anything you do is confirmed before doing a 2nd transaction, when you don't control the transactions.
If you run your own node and your own wallet, bitcoin-qt also has coin-control in it where you can choose each individual input transaction that makes up your output (though there are some gotchas you have to watch out for doing that)

EVEN THOUGH I like pps I moved my miners off f2pool  As there were close to 30 empty blocks today.

The purpose is to move transactions and 30 empty blocks do not cut it.

One worker is not under my direct control and still mines on f2pool.

This is not what I wanted to do. I wanted f2pool to "do the right thing"

30 empty blocks today  if they had .3 in fees each it was 9 coins tossed  due to spv mining which is the pool operators coins since f2pool keeps fees.  I pointed to mmpool.org and will stay with them until they pop a block.
I will then come back to kano.is

to kano I will leave a link rather then the screen shot in an hour or so.

by the way to illustrate.  the problems caused by empty blocks.  I did two transactions yesterday.

I have been trying to get this to happen every once in while
when I send coins from blockchaininfo wallet via simple  send the auto fees do zero and the transactions look like this.

my wallet is not set to be fee less but it did no fee.

worse it pulled .0101 out of my wallet and sent it back to my wallet  effectivly uncomfirming confirmed coins.

I am going to apologize in advance to a few people.
For those who do care about the issues F2pool and Antpool are causing I apologize for quoting such a long post, and then another but the order is important to me to keep this in perspective, and in the order of occurrence.

For those who do not care, well, you may begin to care if you cannot get transactions processed by only a few pools. I believe it stinks if that is what it comes to before people do not complain when they must scroll by such comments rather than read them.
I say that because even some of the pools who are not SPV mining are mining blocks with zero transactions, and the list of pools not either SPV mining or mining blocks without transactions has grown smaller.

These discussions have occurred well before now in other threads. I have not brought it up here in the kano.is pool thread as I did not think it was important to detract from discussions of this pool.

You see some folks, myself included here, believe that bitcoin is easily damaged at this point. It is a toddler learning to walk, and doesn't need people pushing it over when trying to take a step. Yes, I feel so strongly about this I am going to call someone out whenever I see them trying their underhanded tricks.

https://blockchain.info/tx/3989f4a2d7cdbcd146e5b9df949c514fd5920e66e9486d4c18bf1681ab7ba3b7

I paid a fee of 0.0001

I know the Chinese pools skip over my transactions,  but both your pool and slush skipped this transaction.

“The Chinese pools” is not one pool. The policy difference between AntPool and us may be as big (or as small) as that between Kano and us. Your transaction was ignored because it did not pay enough fee. But you can always send another transaction with a RBF-compatible client (include “Bitcoin” XT) as we have FSS-RBF activated.

We know one GIANT policy difference you and antpool share which differ from kano and ckpool don't we eh macbook?  Kiss

That whole thing about screwing miners and threatening all of us with Denial of Service attacks is tough to shake off when you continue doing it.

Most of what you think that is threatening "all of you" comes out of nowhere but your narrow mind.

@macbook-air
Do you mean that you'll intentionally not build on blocks from Kano.is? I think you need to clarify what you mean by blacklist.

We will not build on his blocks until our local bitcoind got received and verified them in full. This guy leaked our IP addresses to the public, I pm him kindly and begged him to remove them but he refused. If we ever got DDoSed due to his post, we have no choices but point our domains to his pool.
That is a threat and a lie

...
We did not and will not DDoS anyone. And what I said earlier was that we HAVE TO redirect someone else’s attack, including those potential ones from Kano, to Kano’s pool IF that attack is a result of the provoked post of him. Because the attack is caused, directly or indirectly, by him.
... again that is a threat and a lie

What we have here is where Kano has brought the definitions of the words which are questioned. Yes, it has been questioned if macbook-air understands that the statements he has made more than once, and defends to this day.

I do not believe macbook-air has misunderstood, or, if he did  he has since understood exactly what has been said.

Kano went to quite a bit of trouble, and spent his time explaining that SPV mining is bad. There have also been previous posts by CK explaining why blocks with zero transactions are bad. These things are not bad only for kano, his pool, or only ck and kano, or only ckpool code. These things have previously and will continue to harm everyone involved with bitcoin.

Please allow me to be clear here. It has undeniably been proven that SPV mining caused the Fork of July. People can make it sound as complicated, make it sound like it wasn't so bad, or try to diminish the impact it had, but the facts remain and they are simple. Even macbook-air admitted this in the F2pool / Discus Fish pool thread that his pool played a part in the Fork of July because it was SPV mining. He goes on to say they have "fixed the code" but the fact is, they still choose to SPV mine.

For those who were not around or may not recall what happened in July I can offer this simple truth. Even if you do not trust what I say, or the proof Kano has offered you can see many threads quoting the bitcoin.org main website where in large red letters across the top of the page it explained you had to wait more confirmations than normal. It goes on in deeper detail to explain this was caused by SPV miners picking up a block which caused a fork of the blockchain. This cost people real bitcoins, real money, real time out of their lives. Those pools lost blocks they mined on that hard fork. That is the simple truth. Kano can spend a great amount of time outlining further and posing the technical aspects of how it continues to be bad to this day and will in the future but I pose this simple question regarding SPV mining.
Is bitcoin trust based? Do you need to trust me to exchange products for bitcoins?
SPV mining forces that pool to trust other pools block reports. It does not verify its own blocks.

Further to the zero transaction blocks, please consider that if pools continue to mine blocks which have zero transactions in them what happens to bitcoin? It doesn't scale correctly, hell depending on how many more pools decided to do this it wouldn't run. IT isn't even a matter of correctly or not, it flat breaks down.

As I said there are some very elaborate explanations regarding the why and how this couldn't happen and you can read through those and see how they apply to you, but to me, this is simple. Bitcoin is not trust based, it is trust-less. Bitcoin is about transactions in a block, not transactions without blocks.

All anyone needs to do is a little bit of reading to see what I've stated is accurate.

Regarding the recent incident was when macbook-air threatened kano.is the pool directly which impacts every miner here.
Kano quoted his exact statements. Macbook makes light of this and states we are all crazy liars and he did not do anything of the sort. He then goes back to say, (and I am going to summarize) I didn't threaten kano, I said if f2pool receives a denial of service attack because someone learns an IP address of F2pool through a post made by kano (kano revealed the IPs which were leaching information from his pool! and IP addresses are publicly available, not that hard to get for anyone with a computer or access to one) macbook-air said he would redirect the denial of service against kano.is

I never threatened to cause a denial of service I threatened to cause a denial of service! - -> my summary of macbook's post and read it via the link in my sig, or Kano's quote in this post.

If you don't think these chinese pools are in collusion that is ok, I can understand people may not believe such, but if you think for a second these pools do not have their own greed as the number one priority and will not harm the network, and take each and every miner down then you have not read what I have seen written by those very pool operators.

These guys have 60% of the network and will do what it takes to reach 100%.

Now, I started this post by saying I apologize to the  people who have read this same story 4, 5 or more times for making a post this large and quoting all of this material.

I do not apologize to anyone who has not. I want you to see and at least I know I tried this way, and the other various efforts I am making. I do not apologize for saying Chinese pools. I also use the term US pools. If you interpret that as racism, well that is your problem. The freakin pools are in china. They have stated they do this because they are in china. It has nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with what harms the network.

People need to stop making excuses, trying to find some minuscule reasons, stop trying to defend the actions of bad actors and stop worrying about being politically correct. When you see something bad, say what you see and why. IF my posts have somehow bothered a couple of miners here at kano.is it certainly is not my intent, but I will not apologize. Instead, I ask that you spend some time to look at what is going on.

There are bad people in the world. There are people who place themselves high above anyone else and would do anything in their power to get more money, bitcoin, or any kind of power. They exist and the proof is here in this forum, here in this thread and can easily be deduced by non-technical minded folks.

Do not allow these people to take what has been worked for so hard to build. Do not let The Washington Post, The New York Times and other publishers say they "told us so" because bitcoin is ruined by power hungry liars. This isn't a misunderstanding, it is code. Code typed in a machine which makes the same decisions time after time, and the people implementing it are after control and currency.

I hope you guys are having as great of a run here at Kano.IS as I have. It has been a fantastic year and I look forward to more of the same. Thank You Kano and CK for what you have done and the fight you continue to put up against the bad things in bitcoin.

kano, i left then i come back a day or later, do i have to start all over again for the 5N ?

or is there a time frame ?
Let's repeat all over again shall we? This time as simple as possible. While you are mining you are contributing shares and those shares will be paid for. While you are not mining you are not contributing shares. There is no penalising for going away, disconnects, switching pools, power failures or anything else, it's just that you're not contributing shares.

Summary: Do not play, touch or even look at the 5N thingy. Don't even think about it.

Hi guys,

Under "Rewards", what does "Your N Avg" mean ?

I ask because I only have 1 rig on the pool- averaging about 1.19 THS. However, my "N Avg" was only 581 GHS and 409 GHS for the last 2 blocks.
Your average hash rate over the "N Range" reward range.
So if you only mined for 1/2 of "N Range" then your average hash rate would be 1/2

Note also: that is a calculation not a cause Smiley
i.e. your shares determine your reward

Thx. Guess i need to check if this rig has some issues.

Ok I'll see if I can spin up a VM and get the proxy running. Since Kano posted the BTC Talk link to your solo thread, I thought I may have been stepping on his toes talking about software that only runs on your solo pool.

Almighty Kano please forgive me  Grin
Kano linked the ckpool/ckproxy software thread. He didn't link to the solo pool...

you are correct and I'm sorry. I'm still a noob and just wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking any rules.

have there been any payouts as of yet

Payouts are done manually.  They will come soon.  No worries, M8.
Yeah sorry this morning's payout has been delayed for a few reasons including all this chatter about monarchs Smiley
(Main cause of delay was an anomaly when I started doing it ... which took me half an hour to work out it was an encrypted drive on my desktop ran out of space Tongue)
Working on it now.
