Whats the reasoning behind a dozen people posting block every time the pool hits one? Makes any real information hard to find and devalues this entire thread a fair bit. It reminds me of people clapping when the plane lands, its just supposed to happen that way.

Something to note is that while there may be 1000's of block posts. If you ask a question  it will be answered. Whether it be behind the scenes of how the pool operates or a general question. The same people that call out block will also come to your aide.

Also have you ever heard "when in Rome"

Ever been a part of a community or any other social construct that thrives off everyone coming together and celebrating a common good?

That's kinda why.  We're human.  We have emotions.  We're social.

Not every thread on every forum has to be for information only.  Go to a wiki for that.

Interaction is beautiful.  That is how families and communities operate and thrive.

Either the Exodus wallet is limited or I'm not doing something right.....
Trying to consolidate but it won't let me send it to my own address it says. I only generates 2 addresses and won't let me create another or send to myself.

Fill me in here....

Use Electrum instead, as I suggested previously? It gives you a lot more control - it's not core, but it's pretty flexible.

",,,weathered..." I like that one. In my case, more like heavily rusted, but I'll take any level of respect I can finagle.

Notice the whiners have gone away?  They're happy with getting paid!
Be nice if we can get this long network block as well!

Why are people with common sense and calculating abilitys whiners?
You know the people that believe without any doubt what someone tells them is good? they are highly dangerous puppets...

Lets "whine" (i'd rather woul use the term "critical and asking"). ýa might learn something....
I hate it when people call others that ask interested questions "whiners". Tells me something about the name caller himself...

Not gonna set the stage for a debate, but, there are 2 different types of miners as of late:

1. The just recently fell down the rabbit hole miner. Knows very little about mining, wallets, and scares easily at the sight of a Bitcoin
price fluctuation. This miner happens to hop from pool to pool, when THEY feel like they are not getting the most out of their online
calculator daily payout. This miner can sometimes be boastful, and ask redundant questions, but disagree with any advice they haven't heard about from Google.

2. The more experienced weathered miners. These guys are very knowledgeable, but can get edgy when prodded by redundancy.  They don't scare easily at Bitcoin price fluctuations. They are in the game, and have been, for the long haul. These miners have LIVED the good and bad, the ups and downs, and generally stick to what they know works. Their experience is from learning from the members who
laid the foundation of the Bitcoin Mining Community, and some of them, are the ones who laid it.

With that, everyone can be willing to be helpful. However, not everyone who asks a question, will like the answer they receive. No matter how many times, or different ways they ask. Just because experienced people stick to their answers, doesn't mean they are puppets, it means, there is no other way to answer questions. Newer miners, sometimes, disagree with that in a redundant nature, thus creating friction with the weathered miners, and the debate begins.

Perhaps, when times get tuff, WE should reflect on the times that are good, and focus toward a positive outcome for EVERYONE.
There is a wonderfully knowledgeable community here, who are ALL in the same position--Mining Bitcoin!!! Goodluck EVERYONE!!!

Just to explain the ports Smiley

They're all the same node - so that wont help for a failover.

The extra ports are for people who have difficulty connecting to port 3333 due to being blocked on their network.
e.g. 80 or 443 should be open on most networks since thats Web and Web SSL.
and I always throw in 81 and 8080 so there's a couple more choices to try.

Use a different node for pool2
Use your closest node for pool1 and then the next closest one for pool2

Is the main "stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333"  node US based?  I've been using the New York node "stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333" but I'm closer to the West Coast.
Yes the main stratum node is on the west side of the US.
If you are in the middle or on the west side of the US then it's normally best to use the main stratum node.

Even though I don't have much hash power, I'm glad I found Kano. I've had questions and everyone has been incredibly helpful and for it being the internet - that's a pretty rare thing these days.  Thanks again to everyone who contributes and makes Kano a great community of miners.  Now lets get sit back and let the BTCocks rain down!

What's a good failover?

I currently have it in order:
:3333
:80
:81

but the :81 is showing dead.

I hate it when people call others that ask interested questions "whiners". Tells me something about the name caller himself...

They're not calling the question askers whiners...you put that on yourself.  They are talking about those who start saying things like "I'm going to leave if we don't crack this monster block soon" when it's only at something like 120-180%.  Those kind of posts can be very annoying to those who have been here for many years.

Carl, aka Sonny :)
It was suggested to me to fail over to different nodes; i.e., I run pool 0 NYA, pool 1 US, pool 2 NL, instead of ports on the same node.

Edit: It's not worth the trouble for me to fail over outside of Kano, especially since the likelihood of three nodes being down is almost nil.

MINE ON!!!

This is the way I like to do it also but my miners are on the west coast so it's US (STRATUM) 1st, NYA 2nd, and JP is the 3rd fastest for me.
