On the positive side, isn't it going to be awesome when we find this block, and the next , and the next, etc is < 100%

We'll think we hit the lottery or some such

Luck aside

But that is all we have. We can't throw lady luck aside.

If luck doesn't help us hit the curveball, I say FY Joebu...I do it myself.

Well those last few blocks that we did hit were very small...so this is evening it out.   Luck aside, the next block should be much "better" than this one.

Sure seems to be concerted effort in some mainstream media to disparage BTC...interesting...

C'mon, blocks...gotta pay my hosting bill on the Ice Planet...  Kiss

I've had to slap down a few Wall Street Commentators re: Crypto.

Oddly enough, Toby Smith, Jonathan Hoenig and Charlie Gasparino remain my friends...

of course Wall Street Media is against crypto... it's taking their business model, and running off into the wild west of legality land.  Ponzi is as Ponzi does and if you can get away with it so be it.  They hate us.  we get to do what they do, without all the regs.

That said. This block is rough.  I suggest burnt offerings at the 420 hour for luck!

Done...and maybe a couple before the hour...love that license...  Kiss

Yes, Username and it'll add to his account.  Worker name can be whatever you like, say "Username.whatagreatfriendIgot"
Thanks!

ramp question, is it centered around username, or worker name?

I'm trying to help a friend out who's miners are down, and if I move some of mine over to his username will that keep his ramp up?  I don't know and haven't heard from him what his worker name is so I figured I'd check and see what the ramp is centered around?

Didn't we used to sacrifice anime characters when blocks got long?  Maybe we need to go back to that...

So we missed an entire difficulty level... The entire time network difficulty was 2603B (from Jan 22 to Feb 6) we did not find a block... Has that ever happened before?

I hate to say it, but we might be getting too small...  I can accept variance, but at what point is it too high?

The answer is "what ever fits into your comfort level", pure and simple.  I'm fine with it.

Been here for years, variance will be high with 50Ph, but I see the issue as lost fees, for a while we had crazy high transaction fees (3-9 BTC Fees) so not finding blocks during those times hurts overall rewards. In the end its always 100% but missing bocks at those crazy high fee times hurts...

Just saying....

Well we have gone from 32PH to 52PH in that time as well, which should help some.

Perhaps a better question is (aside from when the pool was brand new) has variability ever been this high?  By my reckoning, a 100% block would take 2.8 days right now - not sure if that's the best way to measure variability, but it seems to work.

The trouble with high variability is that when we starting mining this block, network difficulty was at 2,227B - it has now gone up past 2,603B and is now at 2,874B and we still haven't found a block - I don't know how the math works on that, but it's got to mess with your profitability - intuition tells me that for everything to work out properly, we have to at least be finding some blocks at every difficulty level...

Is there any indication that variability will improve?  Are we doing anything to attract miners?

Is this the longest time ever that we can't hit a block, so long Sad

Time? Nope - the first block ever found on the pool was pretty slow coz the pool was tiny.
It was also lucky (less than 100%)

However, Diff% is what matters for rewards, and this one is 542% at the moment.

The 2 largest are there on the Web site Blocks page at the end of October - the largest being 928.788%

Now for that CDF related number Smiley
0.99557285335217  542.000%  1 in 225.9
i.e. we expect to average, over time, 1 in 225.9 blocks to be over 542%

Usually it was like that, if a bunch of blocks found in a short period of time like it was the last month, after that we didn’t find blocks for a long time.  But 420 hours is getting kind of ridiculous to tell you the truth.  Did the difficulty jump another 20% or so?  I haven’t been keeping up with it lately.  Huh

Help with fan speed on Antminer S9

I have 4 S9's that run smooth and you hardly ever hear the fans on any of them speed up or slow down.. (some with auot freq, some without)

I have another used S9 miner I am installing, everything is great, except the fan speeds up and slows down every 15 to 20 seconds, slow, fast, slow, fast..

Any thoughts or ideas on why this is happening and what I can do?

There was a post on bitcoin forum about editing the fan speed thru HTML and I tried that...set the fan speed to 70% (according to the kernel) and it is still doing it...

Really, really annoying...  There has to be a workaround somehow...  How can some do it and some not?

Looking for any thoughts or ideas that might help...

Thank You!

Mine On Dude!!

Try to change the controller for a new one, that should solve it.  Smiley

So are all the controller boards for S9's the same?  I see several listed on Ebay...

Is there any difference in the 13.5 board than any others or are they all the same?

Thanks

GH

They seem to be little different on some of my S9’s but if you purchase them on Aliexpress they are for all models, starting from 11.89TH and up to 14Th.  Here is a link for you my friend of a seller that I’ve personally purchased from several of these, twice.  All received within a week shipped by DHL, trusted seller. All worked perfect for me and I still have a couple left just in case for future problems.  Smiley. So I suggest you buy at least one extra so if something goes wrong with another miner you don’t have to wait a week next time.  Good investment since you don’t want for your workers to just sit for a week.

Although I’ve payed like $95 but that was several months ago, now they are like $125, still a good deal I think. Considering that the cheapest price for the unit is like $2300.  And you’ll have it running smoothly after.

Mine on buddy!  Wink
