5Nd / ramp up/down related question:

so i had 10 S9s running in this empty house i bought earlier this year. a couple of days in, the neighbor complained about the noise and called the cops, they entered the house...
-long story short, i had to shut off the machines, but managed to move 5 machines to another temporary location, which i need to take offline soon as well, until i find a new permanent space, especially since i have 10 more machines on their way, for a total of 20.

i'm reluctant to take them offline now, at least until we find our next block.

question is, if i do shut them down right now, will the work from the past 4 days be 'lost and wasted'? if so, will be gradual and how?

thanks for your thoughts and advice!

I'm in BTC XTC
Your ramp down will be about the same as the ramp up (varies with total pool hashrate), so until the full time has elapsed with your miners off you'll still have shares in the 5Nd range that will be paid when a block is hit.  When, not if!!
Mine on (when you can)!  Cool

I like big BITS and I cannot lie.
Did the block dance work?

... must've been the hash dance instead ...

That's my fault, everyone. I take full responsibility for the goof up. Ok, lets get back on track. BLOCK dance, folks.

Finally got my S9s from October ordering, so let's fire them up and find some blocks. I want to get my name on that acclaim board.

@ Kano

I stumbled across this post about the Russian Canaan distributor already advertising the sale of the A8. Seems like a typo to me, but seeing as you saw the prototype do you have any thoughts; if you can elaborate.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2445506.100

The picture is clearly the 741, and the power consumption are identical to the 741.

Also side note, I did have to leave the pool unfortunately I needed a steadier payout, but was grateful for the the 5ND, even though it was going to be a long ramp up for me to reach the full level, when you guys hit a few blocks I got a nice payout at around the 4TH level. Super grateful for the pool, and if I can get to a point where I can wait it out I will come back.

Also Please feel free to keep my dust payments, they aren't much but consider them a donation. I feel it only makes sense considering I got paid after leaving the pool, thanks to your 5ND set up.

Congrats on attracting more hashrate.

On the Kano Pool Website I show the pool working on 498188 at 29 minutes. That block was found by BTCC a few minutes ago and already has a confirmation. It is NOT my connection to the Internet. Kano can you please look into this?

Yes welcome Lightsword indeed!!!!  I did the hash power dance for the hash gods and thence there to be hashes!!!!!  it's pretty much the exact amount of power I wanted to gain back into the pool which is def kinda weird, these dances work.  Oh, and just got in my new power cables and breakout board so I can power my E9+ back up.  Another 9 Th's to the community.  Today was a good day.  Does anyone know if the miner alias on here called Canaan is Canaan like the company and this I where they do their mining?

Yeah, seems like it. Their miners come preconfigured w/ kanopool and their 'canaan' username Tongue

I've deleted the '3000 watts' post - pity I wasn't on when he posted it ...

Now we have 6 posts about how '3000 watts' is too high ... well yeah it is too high but it's also not based on the actual hardware either.

I saw the A8 prototype in September ... Tongue

If anyone wants to make random guess posts without any facts, please do them elsewhere.

3k was a guess, and it won't be far off.
Yes it is far off.

All you did was multiply the A7 by 3 - which is wrong.

sweet, then everyone will be pleasantly surprised!

Well if it's far off, then I'm all in on those.  Would love to get three of those to go with my three s9's.

Noob question.

Will adding another s9 get to my 5nd faster?

It will for your miners that are already mining, however the new s9 will have to go the entire 5nd to get up to speed.

Thanks. So the miner i have now it will shorten the time but the new miner will have to go the full distance? Or once the old miner gets to 5nd it wil help the new miner?

The new miner will shorten the old miner's 5nd (because the total overall is higher now that you added more TH), but the new miner still has to go all the way.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info. and I do like the warranty!

Any specs released other then 20 TH/s

probably 3000 watts

Damn 3000w.... you just pulling my leg? Hey, is that Canaan testing their units in our pool? or just someone who named themselves that.... alot of TH/s

We need to start a betting pool on when the block hits...

Many of those are most certainly testing units...or units they have for their own purposes.  The hash rate goes up and down quite a bit.

As for the 3000 watts, that may be a deal killer though.  Right now you can get 13.5 at 1200 or so from the s9's.  Something to keep an eye on.

My thoughts as well. 3000w is to is a bunch for 1 unit. Would have to reconfig electrical
That's pretty cool they test here

I'd much rather see a 16-17 TH device with similar or better specs than the s9...more efficient power!!!

I was making a guess. Did you see the power source on that prototype?
