I agree on those rumors that eth will dump right after the merge because many people are also going to sell for profits but that dip won't last long because there will always be buyers right after it. For me I think I won't sell till the merge and forking is done so that I can get some free fork coins which I can sell together with my eth for a better profit.

Exactly. Instead of selling all ethereum waiting for redemption is very risky. We should keep Ethereum since this merge will definitely create ETHW and the previous ethereum fork in 2016 has also created ETC after ethereum forked, we will get it for free with 1:1 ratio. It is possible that ETHW will not be able to reach the high price of ETH but I believe it will bring significant profits to those holding ETH.

Selling ETH is too risky as it is unlikely that it will be dumped afterward, it will most likely bounce and be at a higher price than it is now. It's all speculation, nothing is certain it will happen.

Keep or sell ethereum before the merge?

I've made some researches and found plenty of rumors saying that ethereum will dump after the merge and why's that? (short term)

I don't believe in rumours. I will be staking instead of mining. I will receive 4-15% per annum on the node.  Roll Eyes

Running a node is not easy and expensive. And staking on exchanges is unreliable.  Grin But maybe that's why it will be profitable. The harder it is to enter, the more profit

do you have any doubts about it? if you have doubts about this then you should just let go of some of what you have, at least half of what you have will give you an advantage if in the future you have market potential to support it better.
but for Ethereum holders, don't hesitate to hold eth for a long time, because the potential of ethereum has stages every year in my opinion, even every year ethereum becomes superior

Depends on you. If you are into longer terms then you better keep your eth because I think it's expected to grow more in the future now that it's on its new version but if you are in for shorter terms only then you better sold your eth now if you bought lower because I think eth is already rising.

Indeed, right mentally prepared in whatever situation will give a good insight into what you should do,

It's something that investors or traders need to understand before investing. The ETH market might experience
downfall if there are many traders that will sell and panic during the transition, while if all the solid supporters of ETH
project will continue to hold and allow the merger to pass and will not do or will not move their holdings. The value will
possibly pump or will maintain the current position. It's always depends on how you analyze and understand the project
that you are supporting.
I am pretty sure that the act of going from pow to pos could maybe have a bit of a turmoil that is true but we are not sure about it, I remember very clearly about 1.5 years ago or so, when there was a certain amount of ETH required to go to phase 0, we had a situation where people bought ethereum by bulk and put it in somewhere and increased the price.

I am not entirely sure but it could be December 2020 if I am not wrong. That means, if the same happens then the price could go up as well. On top of that, we are also talking about the future, so maybe it will go down or up during this short period, but it will definitely go up in the long run as well, there is no doubt about that.

I don't really know if the merge will dump or pump Ethereum, so I think it will be better you sell half of your Ethereum and hold half, incase if the coin dump then you can buy back with the money you sold the half and I case if the coin pump then you won't be missing the pump completely you are having half of your money in the coin atleast you will also benefit. Lot's of people are just predicting but nobody is sure about what will happen so I think shouldn't listen to the people that asked you to sell and you should listen to the people that asked you to hold, just make it 50/50.

I think the price of Ethereum will break 2k when the merge happens.  So if selling your Ethereum is on your mind just wait until maybe a few days have passed after September 15.
But just know other people will behaving the same strategy as you so you must be quick or considering setting a sales point on a exchange or what you use to do your trading.

The price is expected to drop to extreme levels after the update and even a little before it. This will continue for an unknown period of time until all nodes are up to date.
Price is always related to supply and demand, and demand is expected to decrease as the mining algorithm changes.
Currently, without the merge, the price of Ethereum is not commensurate with its real value due to the problems that is supposed to be overcome after the update. The price is supposed to recover before the end of the current year.

why do you believe so much about these rumors?, I think there will be many positive sides if the merger is carried out as intended in the rumors. despite the various rumors being reported for Ethereum, I personally will not give up the ethereum that I still hold on to. it's up to what rumors hit ethereum.

I think keeping is better than selling, especially since the price of ethereum is currently very cheap, I'm sure eth will skyrocket again so it's the best decision if we want to be patient and wait for the merge process to complete.

The merger is good for ethereum, so it won't cause ethereum to go down. We don't know how much OP bought but if he is a long term investor it should be kept. If he sells out at the current price and after the merge ends, eth is not dumped as expected but continues to increase in price, then he will no longer have a chance to own ethereum at a low price, he will buy it at a higher price and then the profit will decrease somewhat.

We need to be clear into something the merge won't affect your holding or give you losses unless you are in a panic and selling them when the price drops. I suggest you OP clear out your mind and never make this rumor influence your minds but rather be focused on what you aim for. Seeing Ethereum price to dump is literally possible and we don't have to worry about that because that was temporary.
No risk no gain, think about it OP.

Keep it. I'm sure The Merge will have plenty of late-to-the-party investors. They FOMO will push the price of ETH to be very high. Binance and other CEXs already plan to stop the deposit/withdraw ETH which I think is another thing to contribute to the high price of ETH around The Merge. Since the ETH supply to exchange will be cut from the wallet, this is the spelling for a pump. How much? I can't tell. The risk of it being dumped post Merge is also there.

Do your best for your decision or you should look for information that you really believe in, because if you have doubts about this, you will miss out on this best moment. In my opinion Ethereum is the best coin I have ever seen, for something like this you better keep it because I believe once the merger starts 2.0 Ethereum the cost will be very cheap and everyone will definitely hunt for Etherum after that the price will definitely go up. Of course this is just my opinion, all your decisions will be decisive and it is the best thing you can take for your future investment.

We should keep Ethereum till the merge because it will create more hype and have a chance to make a huge pump.

The world is waiting for the Ethereum merge, which we make the price skyrocket, after the merge has been done, and is good to buy and hold, because Ethereum is number two Alt-coin in the cryptocurrency market capitalization.

If there is any doubt about the Ethereum merge, it is better to invest in another platform. In a competitive business everyone wants to stay ahead.

In your opinion, which coin should we invest in which can be safer than bitcoin and ethereum. Whether the consolidation has an impact on the ethereum price, we won't know, but overall it will be short-term and that shouldn't be too important. Once bitcoin has not moved any ethereum activity will be negligible so no need to panic.

I think after the merge of Ethereum it will go up and will make a new ATH. So before taking any decision you should research by own and decide what you want to do or you can sell a small amount before the merge. It's all about depends on you.
It's too good to be true. Don't you think bitcoin will always be sitting at the bottom to see that happened? I meant yeah you can predict it to happen but ethereum can't leave from impact created by bitcoin. Ethereum was doing a big update but i shall remind you that if that will give short term impact.
The fact that if people must also aware if ethereum will not reach new ATH if bitcoin will not reach new ATH first. Bitcoin first and then ethereum.
I never see ethereum could decouple from bitcoin even when there was a huge update like burn or merge
Cryptocurrencies are generally based on Bitcoin. If Bitcoin is able to go on a bull run then Ether will be in second position with it. ATH is not expected in a bearish market. Where burning News will not have any impact. People's demand for cryptocurrency is increasing so holding is most important. If there is any doubt about the Ethereum merge, it is better to invest in another platform. In a competitive business everyone wants to stay ahead.

For now the predictions were not in the favour of ethereum to go steep rise once after the merge. For different reasons the merge is predicted to bring some down market and further make positive move. So, rather than thinking of selling it is good to hold the ethereum for long term. Even if the merge is effective, we can't experience the best growth instantly. It follows the market trend, so when bitcoin turns bullish we ethereum too will grow.

Everyone is free to make predictions about what will happen to Ethereum after the merge, certainly no one can give a guarantee that their predictions
are accurate. This means that there are still many possibilities that can happen, so we don't worry too much about what happens to Ethereum.
Better to just focus on accumulating more Ethereum, because no matter what happens to Ethereum, eventually in the long term Ethereum will go up too.
So like you said instead of thinking of selling our Ethereum, why don't we hold it until the price goes up. Ethereum is the best altcoin and in any
case investing in Ethereum in the long term will always be profitable.
