"Gambling in peace" - why not just ask not to bother you for couple of hours, because you will be busy and need concentration?
Think about secret habit in different way. If it is in secret, then no one will be able to help you if you have troubles. I remember someone was mentioning addiction, and now you say that hiding that you gamble is good. Isnt it a first to addiction?
They will not disturb us when we are in the room and say I am working on something and we can also ask them not to disturb us for a few hours.
Now imagine if you have good self-control but don't want anyone to know you are gambling. Does that constitute gambling addiction? We are all addicted to gambling by always returning to the casino and playing various gambling games. However, we refuse to be called gambling addicts because we can still control ourselves. We also don't use too much money for gambling.
We hide our gambling activities from other people because we don't want to hear negative feedback from them about what we do in gambling. That's because we feel we can still control ourselves well while gambling. But if it's different for you, that's okay.
Why wouldnt I want someone to find out that I am gambling. I have noticed that evaluation of gambling in topic "
never gamble in front of the kids". People consider gambling as something negative. When we hear gambling, first things we think are something illegal, crimital, addiction, loosing money. My vision is different, it is a way to spend time and have fun. I've tried to convince people, that gambling does not equal bad. But its is hard to do that. For me, gambling = fun. I get some relax while gambling. I dont have a single bad memory about gambling (I dont even feel bad for long time when I lose). It was always smiling, laughter and joking. So why would I hide it, be shamed of it, hide it from kids and etc, as if I am doing something bad.
For example, it is not socially accepted to say that you like to smoke marijuana to relax or that you drink beer every day after work. People don't like that kind of thing. It's the same with gambling addiction. People won't understand you even if you play casino games once a week just to have fun.
You are 100% right with that. But why should I follow society point of view and say that "yeah, it is bad", when I have fun from it once a week? I dont force anyone to gamble or drink or smoke. I am minding my own business, so I dont like when someone bothers me with "you know that gambling is bad, it get you addicted"? A lot of people dont realise what they say. They once heard and saw addicted person, and now everyone that has ever placed a bet is addicted. But that is wrong. Person who made few wine sips isnt an alcoholic, a guy who ran 10m isnt a sprinter, a guy who placed 1-2 bets once a while isnt addicted gambler.
