If gambling is what an individual chooses to do why will they hide it, I think it depends on the person involved, is not ideal to secretly do things that make you happy unless you have checked thoroughly and find it to be a bad habit, if I may say I don't see gambling as a bad stuff, is just that gambling is addictive and one needs to have control over themselves in other to indulge in this kind of activity, different people with diverse reasoning and understanding, some set of persons see gambling as a bad thing but if you dash them money made from it, they will take, I just see this as hypocrisy, the only thing I will say is that if one decide to gamble just gamble with care and less concentration to avoid addiction that may lead to going extra mind to get money to satisfy your urge, but don't hide it, as far as you know that you are not doing it the wrong way.

Yes, we should keep it to ourselves, especially if it will cause other new problems between us and the people around us. As long as we can control ourselves while gambling, we will not experience the problems other people face because we will always remember that gambling is only with the money we can afford. So hiding our gambling habits will not give us problems, and we can gamble in peace without thinking about what other people who know about our gambling activities will say. And it is true that if we want to talk about our gambling activities so far, we must be able to choose people we trust so that it won't cause problems.

that's right. not everyone can be a gambler. In many people's point of view, gamblers are bad and disgusting and should be avoided. but if we are mature enough to respond to it, we shouldn't have to pay attention to it. it's enough that we don't gamble in front of them, that's a good thing we can do.

Yes , we should be careful because not all people are like us. Also, it is still a stigma that people who gambles are all addict and tend to have a bad life because we are playing gambling, that most common here in asia. Yes you are right that mate some regions in the world forbidden cause of there doctrines but there are many many people disobey their doctrines and keep playing or gamble even if it's prohibited. there's no need to shock as we all know that nowadys most area in the world have internet and there are many gambling sites in the internet so we can not deny the fact that there are many people will play and play anytime anywhere.

It's not really necessary to make to the world known that you are gambling. Sometimes it's much better to only let a few trusted ones to know your gambling habits so that only the selected ones that has direct involvement of your life will make criticisms to your routine without being so harsh to you nor being so at ease with your ways. Because sometimes, there are people who just want to meddle with your business and not really help you out. They judge not out of concern, rather to insult or to control you. So still, be careful who you trust and who you share with.

Anyone that is gambling and is hiding their gambling habit is really not proud of what they are doing although I don’t blame most of the people who are getting involved in such activities because their are lot of people who are just there and can’t really stand out to defend their own decision they so much care about what people will think of them and what people will also say which makes them to hide their passion from the eyes of the general public.

Sometimes too one of the reason why most people hide their gambling habit is as a result of them not wanting people to think that that’s where they spend all their money or in a situation where the person is not doing financially well, people might think that gambling is the reason why they can’t survive or save out something out of their income and for them to save their self those explanations they just have to hide it from them and their gambling under ground.

This is why a balance must be reached, on one hand it makes no sense at all to share that information with anyone, even with our family members, but at the same time if things get out of hand and we are unable to control ourselves then there is not going to be anyone there for us to help us when we need it, so people need to be honest with themselves and seriously consider if they can really control their gambling or not, and depending on that answer they could share the fact they gamble with their family or not.

so keeping your secrets and making everything look fine is also a good thing.
because some people might judge you as a bad person when they find out you gamble, even though maybe you can control yourself and not get carried away by your emotions.

Yeah, and if I remember it right, there's also a young gambler who ended his life because of debts that he can't repay, he ended his life since he can not do anything about his loan as he keep his gambling dominate him to the point that he losses everything including the money that not suppose for gambling and being out of control he continue up to the point that he no longer have money to use and ask for loans. Going deeper with addiction and keep it inside you also have that kind of bad side effects.

Though it's still on how you handle things and how a gambler will protect his privacy and have that decent amount of self-will to control whatever he's doing and continue enjoying discreetly.

That's right, as long as we can still control ourselves from gambling then we can hide it and nothing will change. However, if we cannot control our finances, we will often run out of money and people will usually start to suspect us. Of course people will think we spend money to gamble

In my country there is quite a lot of news about people who lost a lot of money and had a lot of debt and sold their parents' land to cover the debt. Cases like this mostly occur in the younger generation, some are even still students. It is very important to gamble responsibly because there are many risks in gambling

It is for the best to not talk about any topic that is money related, where I live it is very common to get asked all kind of stuff regarding how much money I make and I have always thought that is simply tasteless, the only persons besides myself which should care about how much I make is my family, no one else needs to know that information, so it stands to reason that I also do not like to answer any questions which are related to how much money I spend on gambling.

I don't like to discuss gambling matters openly. The main reason for this is that gambling is not legal in my country.  And you can be criminally prosecuted for gambling here.  So I refrain myself from discussing these things in public places.

Also, I would never discuss gambling with a stranger . And even if we discuss, I will not tell him how much money I have gained or lost in gambling . Because this is my personal matter.

If I know the person I'm talking to is a gambler. Then maybe I'll talk to him openly. However, I will try to avoid personal matters. Because even if you have a lot of money,  you would never tell a stranger about it . It can lead to various accidents. So I try to avoid these things for my own safety.

Well, when you meet some one let's say in a bus or in an open space and you both got discussing, how do you tell if the person has little money, or that such person will easily get addicted to gambling?.

I personally do not totally think it's wrong to discuss with strangers about gambling, as long as the discussing is just casual, that is, not revealing ones personal details or go too deep into sharing personal experiences, but all this is if the stranger in question is also a gambler.

I somewhat agree with you, we should refrain ourselves from discussing gambling with acquaintances or friends. It has a few downsides, first you tell someone about your gambling experience who doesn't have enough money. If you tell him about the big profits from gambling,  he may become very interested in gambling, and may gamble even if he borrows money. And if he is somehow defeated, the ill effects will be felt on him and his family.

Secondly, my interactions have exposed me to numerous individuals who swiftly succumbed to the allure of gambling, subsequently relinquishing substantial monetary assets. I won't say gambling is bad, however getting addicted to it is very bad. This is why we should be careful, and not talking about gambling to people who have little money, or who are likely to become addicted to gambling.

It would be better to tell about experiences but remain anonymous, as in this forum we dont know each other but we can tell each other about gambling and I always think that telling stories about gambling to people we know will have a bad impact in the long run.
