I'm not gonna pay for fried chicken with bitcoin, period, unless I'm starving and have no fiat in my ppcket, bank, or hidden under the mattress.  I'm not exactly the definition of a hodler, but it strikes me as a big waste to buy something with bitcoin that's going to end up in the septic tank.  Makes sense, right?

The other thing is that it's totally impractical, with the outrageous fees and confirmation times. That's going to be some seriously cold chicken after 1 confirmation--and I can pay with fiat for free.
yes I agree with you with that little thing I will not use bitcoin as payment media, I will use it if there is a situation that I should do

Now, it is time for modern technology. Many outlet of food and beverages receive bitcoin for the payment. Not only outlet of food and beverages, some hotels, some dealer, and many others receive bitcoin for the payment Smiley

I think it would be better if KFC waiting for ICOs project like TenX, Crypterium or PundiX to be available in Canada and partnered with them. Those project offers user to buy stuff using cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, ethereum etc so the merchants will receive fiat money even if payment is made in cryptocurrency by real time conversion with low fees.

It's a good adoption and advertisement for bitcoin but for those bitcoin holders they won't spend too much fee just to buy that bucket.

If I'm in dire situation and I'm craving for their chicken or hunger is striking me bad then I might be forced to sell off or pay them with some of the bitcoins that I'm holding.

But it's just on Canada, do they have plans on expanding this to their other branches all over the world? The manager of KFC Canada seems to be a crypto supporter.
I agree with your points. It is good to see more and more stores accepting bitcoin as an alternative source of payment, but the bitcoin network fees is a big obstacle indeed. I have faith in the developers of bitcoin and I believe that they will integrate new features like the lightning network etc in the near future in order to combat this problem and reduce the transaction fees.

I am not sure if the KFC branches in my country are willing to accept bitcoin as a source of payment yet, but based on what I have heard about them, I think they might support this move. Am optimistic about this move.

At least it is good for bitcoin popularity=) of course it seems strange to pay with BTC considering current bitcoin fees. Fee price will be more than chicken price=)

it only applies in the country of Canada, what about other countries?
a good start BTC can be a food payment tool
In my country KFC has not received payment using Bitcoin, maybe with this news, KFC in my country will receive a fee using Bitcoin. this is great for promoting Bitcoin to become more famous

I keep on seeing stories like this and they seem little more than a gimmic. In reality the cost of the transaction fees alone would problably be way more than you actual items purchased.
Why not make life easy for yourself and get hold of a working Crypto Debit card where you can spend your crypto coins if you want to without all the hassle?

Centra is positioning itself as the leader of the pack due to restrictions placed on TenX  (again!) and Monaco with no product yet.

I have already purchased from ebay using Bitcoin, from a pizza store using Ripple, and a round of drinks at a night club.

Are you guys not familiar with the pizza story.? I guess the guy did suicide already but probably not his mistake. No one knew it could grow this much and also it was a big thing at that moment.

I would not buy some for food right now as there is still space for pumps.

LOL, wasting your high fee'd Bitcoin for a friend chicken is not a good idea. I would rather starve than eating there with my precious Bitcoins.

nope, I'm not going to buy 1 bucket of chickens with bitcoin, the bitcoin transaction fees are insane and how long to confirm it, 1 hour? waiting 1 hour for the chickens. I'm okay with dogecoin low fees, why don't they create a token sample name like KFCtoken. Grin

Only KFC in Canada, many countries have not accepted the BTC.
As in my country, Vietnam bans trading with BTC since 2018.
Can not understand...
I think ... because the government is afraid of uncontrollable money.

This is a good news, I believe even if we are not really going to use Bitcoin to buy those stuff, it is always great to have big company to accept Bitcoin.  This does not only boost the market but also boost the awareness for Bitcoin.  Imagine millions of people and customers getting to know Bitcoin being accepted in KFC.  This proves legitimacy and established the beliefe that Bitcoin is really an alternative to fiat currency.
