That's a good news, but without Lightning Network it doesn't make any sense. Waiting 2 hours for transaction to be confirmed and what's more - paying HUGE fee? No thanks. I'm waiting for LN and I hope I will pay with bitcoins on a daily basis Smiley

This can not make sense practically until the problem of high transaction fees and delayed bitcoin confirmation is solved.  IMO

Seems pretty impractical to me, I mean the fees make it cost like twice as much as it's worth unless you're buying KFC for like 50 people xD

And wait for the confirmation before you get your food?. No that isn't going to happen, the current Bitcoin transaction time and transaction fee couldn't afford Bitcoin for a small payment. I believe the fees are higher than the food. Except KFC offer another cryptocurrency that has been proved to sustain the micro-transactions.

or, LN has been activated on the bitcoin network.

twitter quote:

KFC Canada presents The #Bitcoin Bucket. Sure, we don’t know exactly what Bitcoins are, or how they work, but that shouldn’t come between you and some finger lickin’ good chicken. https://www.facebook.com/KFCCanada/videos/1758453490840478/?business_id=10153271315728619

ok PR move, but what a stupid statement in the tweet. "umm, yeah, we don't know what this currency is all about, but wtf we'll accept payment using this currency anyway. derp."

I propose to pay for food with XVG, DGB or something similar, but with BTC is literally a unnecessary waste of money.

KFC as in Kentucky Fried Chicken?! OMG!!! This is my favorite fast food chain when it comes to fried chicken. Is it a legit news that they will be accepting Bitcoin as payment? I hope so! I will always buy fried chicken and will pay using Bitcoin if it is true. It will be a hassle free transaction if that will happen. Excited for this.

Well we just have to wait and see first. For as long as it is not yet being implemented because there's never an assurance for as long as we cannot see it happening yet becauase there are still some issues like high transaction fees which is why the steam one of the known online seller of games have already resigned in accepting bitcoin as mode of payment because of this. Which is why we need to see first.

It's still a good thing. Even when overstock was accepting btc it was less than one percent of sales but for btc to grow it's good to see more businesses accepting it. It's also good advertisement for KFC here we are talking about it. KFC has excellent cole slaw

The only problem in here is when the kfc and the person that will buy for example a chicken has a different bitcoin wallet. Because as we all know, bitcoin has confirmation when you are sending some bitcoins to other wallet. Lucky for us in the Philippines, when you're using coins.ph it has 0 confirmation. So, if I have different wallet from the kfc I'll wait 'til the confirmation and I'll eat a cold chicken Cheesy.

Wow so I can buy a chicken burger using my gizmo QR-Code for $4.99 and I only need to
pay $30 in transaction fees to miners to make this happen.

Boy this is finger licking good or should i say "I'm loving it"  Cheesy

Cannot wait for Lightning cus all I needs ta do is set up a channel to there hub (Bank)
and buy a burger each night for a month and I can spread the $30 miner fees plus the hubs
fee over the month and this means that my burger only cost $6.20 each night and just think
I get some of them free KFC token they are giving out and might win a cuddly toy.

Tell you guys when this makes front page new they are going to be begging to buy Bitcoins  Roll Eyes

Seeing as their business is based on an on demand model I see it a little difficult to implement based on the fees and confirmation time.
No confirmations/high network congestion = payments that can be double spent.
I'm not sure if they've really thought this through properly.

This is a good news because there a lot of people who patronizes KFC all over the world. This could be a big boost not just to KFC but also to the cryptocurrency world.

I hear what you're saying... but this acceptance of Bitcoin in the mainstream with the likes of KFC can only be a good thing yes?

I'm not gonna pay for fried chicken with bitcoin, period, unless I'm starving and have no fiat in my ppcket, bank, or hidden under the mattress.  I'm not exactly the definition of a hodler, but it strikes me as a big waste to buy something with bitcoin that's going to end up in the septic tank.  Makes sense, right?

The other thing is that it's totally impractical, with the outrageous fees and confirmation times. That's going to be some seriously cold chicken after 1 confirmation--and I can pay with fiat for free.

so you think the use of BTC should remain online?
