UPDATE1. I've been upgrading the kobocoinj to upgrade the mobile wallets. It's now been compiled and I'm trying to get the new wallet compiled but my PC keeps crashing (see pt.2)
2. I've been migrating all the android code to gradle (the instructions make it look easier than it is). I'm also changing my development platform from Ubuntu to Windows which is a learning curve in itself. My Ubuntu machine is too old and keeps crashing when compiling code. I need a DAO type crowdsale to raise development funds!
3. I've not been personally able to correctly clone the bitcore JS libraries yet. There's still X15 issues to work out. I had the same issues getting the kobocoinj built. The challenge will be resolved.
4. Same X15 issues with the electrum server. The server is up and running and syncing but UberPay are having issues with the X15 protocol. This will also be resolved.
5. With pts 2 and 3 I'm seeking help from external developers to cut down the development time, but the expertise is very thin on the ground. Very few cryptos have JS libs, and the people who can help are busy on projects at this time. I've already created a Nodejs X15 hashing module based on the X15 module used successfully in kobocoinj (
https://www.npmjs.com/package/x15-hash) so it's just a matter of time.
Some positive news:
We are now part of ROKOS Flavours V6 - Magic Flavours! Just awaiting the final official release Once it's officially released I'll get in onto a Pi and post a few screenshots and also tweet it out so people are aware that you can now get kobo's on an affordable Raspberry Pi. Looking forward to that
Progress continues on the groundThe right people are beginning to be aware of Kobocoin's existence.
Here's a tweet from Andrew Alli:https://twitter.com/afalli/status/728632919019884544Andrew Alli is the top of the tree in banking on the continent. He's the CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation (
http://www.africafc.org) Here's more info on Andrew and the AFC:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_Finance_Corporationhttp://www.africafc.org/Who-We-Are/Management.aspxhttp://annmorgan.me/onewebmedia/Andrew%20Alli.pdfhttp://www.africangifted.org/about-us-2/people/andrew-alli/I'm not pretending that he's about to invest or anything even near that. AFC only invest in major regional infrastructure projects (check their website), but
we're gaining visibility with the right people in the right places. When people like the esteemed Mr Alli talk, the most influential people on the continent listen. Even a small mention from Andrew shows that people are taking notice.
As ever it's not easy juggling crypto development with a demanding full time job that demands a lot of time, attention, and travel. Even so, all development challenges will all be overcome in the near future. Over the next few days I'll prepare a proper update on the Federated Blockchains initiative. I'll also be tweeting info about the FB project and ROKOS Flavours. I also need to update the website and remove links to the online wallet now Coinwalletco is offline. Finding time for it all is the biggest barrier.
