Kobocoin - Mobile Money for Africa
so many words, yet i can't figure out how it stakes,
dev, please explain is it normal for this coin to produce such tiny stakes:

http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/KOBO/tx.php?tx=381f7e7c1b1726dca6ee00a06e67b9a9087e8c4cc31c9e64010c0075cad1753b

Apologies for the delay. According to the explorer that address has received 1.2% from minting:
http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/KOBO/address.php?address=F9GAz8s2uP82VK2BDNoyCB7LCQfez7M83T

Have you been moving the coins around? The wallet can only stake when it is online and unlocked (thereby helping the network). If it's a normal use PC being switched on and off and occasionally staking, then the rewards will not be as great as a machine left online and unlocked 24x7.

Have a look at this tutorial
http://cryptorials.io/manual-coin-control-how-to-stake-more-with-neucoin-qt-wallet/

I have a wallet that hasn't been unlocked since last year so it won't have received even close to 1.2%, more like 0%

I'm not sure this helps your issue. PoS rewards aren't as straightforward as it might first seem.

I set my computer to not go to sleep. Mine stops staking once it goes in sleep mode.

The progress we've already made is spectacular, Tribesman you are doing a fantastic job.

According to http://www.countmycrypto.com/ Kobo is currently showing 200% growth from when I started using it, the best performance of my 3 supported coins.

- But I'm still HODL because I think this is only the start of our journey towards our goals - liberating Africa from the machinations of the central bank kleptocrats.

Any updates Tribesman?

No major update at this time. Everything is in hand. I've been talking to some people behind the scenes about the issues being experienced with adding services to the infrastructure. As I've said a few times before, expertise in this field is hard to come by and there's no tech support to call on for answers. I have to figure it out myself.

The mobile wallets now seem relatively stable. It's been syncing (and synced) for a few weeks now without me having to rebuild the blockchain on the hashing server. Looking after the infrastructure can be very demanding. A lot more demanding than I've let on up till now. At one point I was rebuilding the server every 3-4 days. It was driving me mad.

When there's some real progress with the ongoing projects I'll post it. I know it was constant forward motion for a few weeks. There are challenges now that need to be overcome so that the forward progress can continue.

X15 Javascript libs and X15 electrum hashing are the priority challenges stopping forward progress. Like earlier challenges they'll be overcome. It's killing me not delivering them by now but at least we're now IoT enabled and available on Raspberry Pi. Got to take the rough with the smooth. I could have gone for easier milestones, but these are proper milestones that cement our future. I wish I had more time and energy right now.

It's nice to see KOBO hit the front page of coinmarketcap for the first time ever (heavily manipulated!). Hopefully we'll find a permanent spot there soon.

As a currency Kobocoin is still making progress. I think we can now safely consider ourselves part of the crypto infrastructure. Kobo's future as a proper working currency is getting closer.

Aoologies everyone. I've not been 100% over the last few weeks. I'm recovering but kept myself away from any development. I needed some rest.

Hope you feel better soon tribesman Smiley

Kobocoin seems to be one of the few crypto projects with actual development going on - good job!

What is on the roadmap for the next weeks?

Thanks!

UPDATE

1. I've been upgrading the kobocoinj to upgrade the mobile wallets. It's now been compiled and I'm trying to get the new wallet compiled but my PC keeps crashing (see pt.2)

2. I've been migrating all the android code to gradle (the instructions make it look easier than it is). I'm also changing my development platform from Ubuntu to Windows which is a learning curve in itself. My Ubuntu machine is too old and keeps crashing when compiling code. I need a DAO type crowdsale to raise development funds!

3. I've not been personally able to correctly clone the bitcore JS libraries yet. There's still X15 issues to work out. I had the same issues getting the kobocoinj built. The challenge will be resolved.

4. Same X15 issues with the electrum server. The server is up and running and syncing but UberPay are having issues with the X15 protocol. This will also be resolved.

5. With pts 2 and 3 I'm seeking help from external developers to cut down the development time, but the expertise is very thin on the ground. Very few cryptos have JS libs, and the people who can help are busy on projects at this time. I've already created a Nodejs X15 hashing module based on the X15 module used successfully in kobocoinj (https://www.npmjs.com/package/x15-hash) so it's just a matter of time.

Some positive news:

We are now part of ROKOS Flavours V6 - Magic Flavours! Just awaiting the final official release
Smiley

Once it's officially released I'll get in onto a Pi and post a few screenshots and also tweet it out so people are aware that you can now get kobo's on an affordable Raspberry Pi. Looking forward to that Smiley

Progress continues on the ground

The right people are beginning to be aware of Kobocoin's existence. Here's a tweet from Andrew Alli:
https://twitter.com/afalli/status/728632919019884544

Andrew Alli is the top of the tree in banking on the continent. He's the CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation (http://www.africafc.org) Here's more info on Andrew and the AFC:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_Finance_Corporation
http://www.africafc.org/Who-We-Are/Management.aspx
http://annmorgan.me/onewebmedia/Andrew%20Alli.pdf
http://www.africangifted.org/about-us-2/people/andrew-alli/

I'm not pretending that he's about to invest or anything even near that. AFC only invest in major regional infrastructure projects (check their website), but we're gaining visibility with the right people in the right places. When people like the esteemed Mr Alli talk, the most influential people on the continent listen. Even a small mention from Andrew shows that people are taking notice.

As ever it's not easy juggling crypto development with a demanding full time job that demands a lot of time, attention, and travel. Even so, all development challenges will all be overcome in the near future. Over the next few days I'll prepare a proper update on the Federated Blockchains initiative. I'll also be tweeting info about the FB project and ROKOS Flavours. I also need to update the website and remove links to the online wallet now Coinwalletco is offline. Finding time for it all is the biggest barrier.

I think the best way to slip in digital currencies at this point in crypto is the use of a Trojan horse. ( not virus...) But a grand idea that fosters real world use.

Mpesa had real world use its side effect was that it began to be used as currency.

I have a great idea but no coding skills.

With M-Pesa it was the other way round. People were already using airtime as currency and Vodafone launched M-Pesa as an aid.

If you have an idea, look into what it takes to code it. I would never have believed that I would be building jlibs, android wallets, abe explorers etc. If you have a little bit of coding experience it's a massive leap, but if I can do it...

Also, whatever your idea is, try and keep it as simple as possible.

Sent you pm. Idea was for you.
