Been watching Kobocoin for quite a long time now. There seems to be long game potential here, but I just have no idea how popular cryptocurrency possibly is in Africa...

Well, Kobo offers all of the same benefits as MPESA, but without the cost. MPESA is huge in Africa.

I can't understand why this coin has such a low market cap, it's only $56,000, less than many miserable shitcoins without purpose. The dev is public and has been working at this for nearly two years with very little recognition for his efforts. The wallet is great, simple to use and quick. It's fully functional on Android, Mac, PC and Linux... where's the problem?

It seems to me that this has the potential of explosive growth with just a little good news, hopefully the talk at the Houses of Parliament can provide that little spark.

Anyway, I'm hanging in.

Francois and Felix have kindly accepted our invitation for them to speak at our annual presentation in the Houses of Parliament on November 11th, 2016 and will be happy to demonstrate their tech afterwards

Is this right, dev? Are you going?

Edit:

It's being pushed on twitter too.

Yes, I will be going, and speaking, and using LEGO to demonstrate the blockchain. I'm still pushing Kobocoin to the world outside of the crypto industry. Over the last few months the interest in blockchain has really fallen off (I think the Ethereum/DAO/BitFinex incidents didn't help) but I still believe that KOBO as a currency has a place in the African mobile fintech arena.

Another point is that Kobocoin is seen as green tech because we're PoS which is great. Evergreencoin has been pushing that they're green because they're X15 and PoS, well KOBO has been that since Feb 2015! Here's the link to the article:
http://www.thegreenorganisation.info/whats-green-about-the-blockchain

No matter how slow things are with interest in blockchain I will keep pushing and keep KOBO alive for when people start to see the benefits of a completely independent cryptocurrency. Like a good wine we are maturing with time Smiley

I'm hoping the House of Parliament event will give our cause a further push in the right direction. Who knows who'll be listening!

And don't forget that we're in the top 3 blockchain entrants in the African Fintech 100 awards.

Where can I go to buy kobocoin? I looked at bittrex but there's no kobocoin there. Weird.

yobit.net: Withdrawal for such currency is temporary off.  Huh

+1
isn't it long enough already ?

I would not trust YoBit at all, I am the dev for another coin and I have tried to get them to update the code but they just do not communicate so stay away from YoBit. I never get any response from them.

+100, but unfortunately i have some kobo stuck there

I've finally been able to get in touch with someone on Yobit. I'm hopeful that this will be resolved soon. I'm on the case but tickets only get resolved if you can get them on the trollbox.

Trying to install the Windows wallet from the OP, i get the following error:

Any suggestion? I am using Windows 8 64bit.

Thanks! Smiley

If it is the very 1st time you opened it, then just open it a 2nd time and it should work normally.
(Known quirk on many coins, after they create the blockchain files, it works on the 2nd attempt)

If it still fails Use My Snapshot for the fastest update.

KOBO is on the new list as it was on the old list.

Would be nice to have a formal KOBO rep stop by the TALK ever so often to keep us up-to-date Wink

But we will require a person of knowledge and standing to provide formal nomination and periodic communication in order to remain listed.
