I don't think it's Madrid's game that made them lose their confidence. They just couldn't keep up the form till the end of the season which is a very difficult thing to do. I was always doubtful they could do it from beginning to end.
We underestimate how much these big clubs put in to always remain at the top.

I don't believe they lost their confidence after the Madrid loss because they have been beaten by Madrid before, but they still went on to win their other fixtures in the league and remain at the top.
Before the Madrid game, their performance has already started declining. They lost to Mallorca in the Copa del Rey and drew to Real Sociedad.
They have a poor defense too. They need to use the next window to strengthen their squad so they'll be able to compete in Europe if they manage to make it.
