Honestly Atletico Madrid is de facto leader of the league right now. I am aware that they are not at the top position at the moment but they are tied together to Barcelona with 38 points with one less game, meaning even if they get a tie, they would be equal games and more points and go above Barcelona. They haven't been doing well since 2021 after Messi left but it's better that way. They have depend on one guy to lift the club for many years but now, it's seems the battle is been carried by group of people working connected to bring more honour to the club without the interference of the past players. IMO, the first is their defensive line that uses a high offside trap. So far it has been effective if we look at the accumulation of matches, but in several matches the opposing team was able to read the tactics implemented by Flick. As long as Barca scores a lot of goals, it doesn't matter if they concede 1 or 2 goals in return by the opposing team, but the problem is when their front line is unable to score goals.
