Yes, that what the main problem and made me not fully believe the rumor. However, sometimes if president really wants messi, so he will do anything to make it happens. of course bring him back would be good for marketing, this is can be a one of laporta strategy to gain more income. But, its not guarantee anything, their merchandise sale will be good or not. And Messi's performance will be good as before, since he need to adapt with xavi's strategy and new player.

Grooming player to become best is good but club can't depend on that , buying of player is important to strengthen the team , doing this can make the club to win trophies which can also generate money for the club. Aside the funds to bargain for Messi, Messi's contract extends till 2023 when his two years contract will expire. If Messi was available in the transfer market Xavi won't hesitate to go for him. For now i think Xavi is conserving his comments and decisions on Messi's transfer back to Barça until his contract with PSG expires then they can open a bargain to get

Actually I would prefer to see them (Barcelona) not return Messi to his home (If these rumors are real). I prefer to see them create the atmosphere of their own performance without any intrigue from the players that boost their achievements. Even though Messi is back, there is no guarantee for them that it will take them like a young Messi. I'm really annoyed to see the club still relying on one player.

This rumor has been around since the transfer window opened even when Xavi was just appointed as Barcelona coach at the time and then it disappeared and now it's re-emerged, for me personally returning Messi to Barcelona for now will not be possible. Just imagine, with the many star players with expensive salaries in the Barcelona squad, it will certainly have an impact on financial fairplay.
