Real Madrid weren't that convincing last season and their team haven't improved that much to match that of Barcelona irrespective of them buying hazard (although he's good, he doesn't have much goals in him. Mostly a play maker).
We were (and still are) in the rebuilding phase after Ronaldo's departure, so it's gonna take some time before the team finds their style.

+1 for your detailed explanation. I stopped giving La Liga attention after Samuel Eto'o/Ronaldinho era ended, thought Ronaldo will make me fall in love with the league again but that wasn't the case. Even Messi impressive stats wasn't attractive to me as most of the league matches are just boring unlike the premier league. Most times I only watch El Clásico just to watch Ronaldo display.

Hazard is the only reason for my recent interest in the league and it's just to watch him perform. I'll be routing for Real Madrid so I wish all their fans the best although it'll be a tough battle like I said earlier, Barcelona have invested so much to not win the league. Wish Real Madrid the best though for Hazard. #HalaMadrid

Nah, I don't think it's about form, it's about Messi, once he's back on the pitch, they'll go back to the old Barca we all know. Without Messi, this team in form or out of form is average mainly because Valverde is a mediocre manager.

This is an underlying problem that the club management has to tackle. A club that has spent the amount of money Barcelona has on sign-ins over the past two or three seasons shouldn't be dependent on just one player (no matter how great that player is).
There are quality players, but not enough quality in the technical crew to manage them.

I agree with you. Why does a team as big as Barcelona that has a lot of funds still depend on one person? Isn't there still 10 people in the team if there isn't one of these players. What is the point of buying expensive and great players if you still hope for Messi.

They have done it before on a budget limited squad under Simeone, why not now after spending?

Yeah, they should be able to do it as long as they're consistent.

Bilbao also has a good run recently. I'd love to see this for the rest of the season, must be a good season if the competition keeps going on like this.

You pretty much nailed it @Tomahawk9

Atletico Madrid have everything to challenge for the title and champions league. It doesn't matter whether Barcelona and Real Madrid will be at their best or not. The thing is you can't write off ATM especially this season when they finally decided to spend losts of money, something they usually don't do.

I thought I was out of sMerits, you've got my last one!

Atletico have never been a one man team, not even during Aguero or Diego Forlan's era. They'll competitive to their own capacity all through the season. Expecting them to win the league just this early is asking too much of them.

And for Valverde, It's just the Barca Board totally at fault, I knew he's never going to be great coach for Barcelona, A coach that has a mentality of finishing in the top 4 or 6 position, Unfortunately all his thinking and approach is still within that range.

Does Atletico Madrid have the team to compete for the title, can they be consistent?
I can answer this. Yes, Atletico does have a squad to compete not just for the league title but also the league cup and Champions League. IMO they have one of the best squads in Europe. And also, yes, they can be consistent, they're not like Barcelona or RM where depend completely on one single player to lead them, they're more about teamwork.

When last did Atletico compete head to head with the top two clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title?
Last year, they finished 2nd just 7 pts behind Barca. Also, in 2016, they finished 3rd and just 3pts behind Barcelona. Overall, they've been in the top 3/top 2 over the last few seasons (and they didn't have the squad they have today which like I said it's pretty strong).

Barcelona haven't found their form yet

Barcelona are 8th position on the table, but you should know it's only 5 points behind 1st placed Atletico and 3 points behind 2nd place Athletic Bilbao, all these could be easily covered in 2 and 1 game(s) respectively, so for now, nothing has actually been guaranteed.

Does Atletico Madrid have the team to compete for the title, can they be consistent? When last did Atletico compete head to head with the top two clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title? The La Liga season is still very fresh and also Barcelona haven't found their form yet, they did invest far too much into the team this season to lose.

Mostly a play maker). The season will end in this manner Barcelona, Atletico then Real Madrid that's my prediction.

After Griezmann left, I believe that it is very difficult for Atletico to win the title.
I don't think they would be consistent till the end of the season. They are competitive (especially Joao Felix is a new star) but I believe that they don't have the leader who can lead them to victories when they have bad games.

Yes, unless in 1 or 2 games they keep losing and the others keep on winning. See what happens to Liverpool last year. Even if the differences in just one match, it decided how they end the season.

Five points must be considered a massive gap if anybody wants to win the title. Feeling confident because the difference is only '5' will cost them if they're not careful.

5 points will never be a massive gap in any league after just 3 games played If it's an underdog topping the table. I'm sure Barcelona and Barcelona will be aware of the points gap, and won't take it for granted all I was saying is that it's way too early for the title to be decided just based on those points gap.

And you should also know Liverpool led with about 7 points if not more after 18 games has been played, yet still didn't win the league.

They have already taken advantage of Barcelona's and Real Madrid's slip ups and all they have to do it maintain the momentum.

Yup. Barca and Madrid are out of their best form now. This season is probably one of the best chance for another team to win the league.

The club that utilizes the situation is Atletico Madrid. They casually lead while the Spanish league with 9 points. Real Madrid and Barcelona did not even make it into the top 4.
Well we all understand this is only temporary, but if this is the situation, surely Atletico Madrid or other clubs will get the title this season.

If any other team different from Barcelona or Real Madrid will win the title, it's going to be Atletico Madrid but it's going to be dependent on not just Atletico Madrid playing incredibly well all season, Real Madrid and Barcelona will have to be terrible all season too.

Imagine how Griezmann will feel if his previous team win the league after he left. Maybe not as bad as Coutinho but it sucks to face that reality.

Hah!  Def Coutinho has it worse.  He's not even a preferred starter at Barca.  At LFC, he was rated really high and was a fan favorite.  He would've been a hero...  No, a legend.  An immortal.

He blew it.

It is everyone's player to play on Barcelona or Real Madrid the most legendary clubs around the world, so he chose this path.
Indeed, he would have been a hero in Liverpool but by the time an offer from those clubs come, they don't think that they won't have any place in the starting line-up...

Probably Barcelona will win this competition this year. Wondering how De Jong will play this season.

De Jong is a great talent indeed - just watched him yesterday vs Germany, impressive kid.

And I hope everyone can compete again, which makes the Spanish League interesting again to be discussed.
I also want to not only be atl Madrid who are a tough competitor of Barcelona and Real Marid, there must be other teams who also put up a fight in the Spanish league.
Better stick to the Premier league if that's what you are hoping to happen in La Liga. Unless some of these smaller team gets crazy rich owners, don't expect them to challenge the top teams for the title. Just take a look at what happened to Man City.

La Liga is also competitive (yet not so much as they Premier League) but it is.
There are 3-4 teams that can challenge the title. The problem is that Real and Barcelona has a great popularity internaitionally so all the key players want to joing those two teams. Hence, this leads to a competitive advantage to them.

^  For Atletico to win La Liga it would need to over perform and need Real and Barca to under perform for a good part of the season...  Kinda like what happened to Leicester at the EPL?  Cheesy  Extreme situation with Leicester tho but you know what I mean.
Atletico Madrid have won the La Liga 10 times so far with the most recent on being in 2014 which is not bad at all... For Leicester, it was a one time thing and the EPL's top teams where way so poor that season, In fact if Arsenal had been serious, they would have won the title easily that season. Under Diego Simeone, ATM are very capable of winning it again if they show consistency.
