I just don't understand why Barcelona still keep Sergio Busquets in the starting eleven or in their squad, because for now I think Busquets should be replaced and we know, Pjanic has joined Barcelona and of course it is the right choice for Barcelona. Regarding Messi whether he will stay or not, I personally don't really care about it because Barcelona are a big team that shouldn't depend on just one player.

As expected Messi is staying put... at least for this season: https://www.goal.com/en/news/messis-barcelona-heartbreak-revealed-from-his-sons-tears-to/1mpozogbymuza1fep1f6vv3oz2

Seems to be playing the pity card and blaming it all on the hardships his family will face and that he doesn't want to have to take Barca to court, which would have just complicated the whole move. I think it would have been sad for him to leave in such an acrimonious way but I kinda hope he does leave at the end of the season as I would like to see how he fares at another club, especially one in the Premier League. If he states his intention to leave this season then at least there won't be any bad blood and this season can be seen as his 'victory lap'. The question is will he be leaving or will we have to go through all this business again?

This season, Real Madrid and Barcelona will not only be competing for the championship. Sevilla and Atletico Madrid may also join them. I will especially watch Sevilla. If the players have enough strength, they can compete for the championship.
Atletico usually isn't far away from Barca and Real in recent seasons. So, I'm sure that they are going to fight for title this season. Sevilla is good team, but I'm not sure that thay can play stable all season long without dropping points to bottom table teams.
Only in one case can Sevilla or Atletico Madrid win the championship. If they concentrate on the La Liga games. Atletico Madrid has a goal of the Champions League, and Sevilla will not survive in the championship and in the Champions League.

Barcagate, will it help Barcelona fans to have opportunity to watch Messi in Nou Camp, in Barca kit again? Some thing might happen:
- Bartomeu left Barca and get troubles with police investigation, Messi stays and sign a new contract with Barca.
- Bartomeu gets troubles but Messi will only play his last season in Nou Camp, then leave to Man City
- Same for Bartomeu but Messi will leave Barca, and only have training session in Arghentina, no club till 2021 - 2022 season.

I won't hope the last scenario will happen because it will be bad for football fans and Messi.

Just like last season, i will back Real Madrid to take this season's La Liga title too. Barcelona will be looking to rebuild and i don't expect them to make an immediate comeback this season. Sevilla and Atlético Madrid are no longer so much of a threat like they used to be a couple of seasons back but who knows, this season could be up for lots of twists.

As much as I'd like to disagree with you, I won't. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have become a shadow of their former selves. Recent performances have been subpar. I still remember how man city knocked out real Madrid and Barcelona got humiliated by Bayern. This is the chance for teams like Athletico and Sevilla to take up the mantle and possibly win the league.  Sevilla in particular have been doing good lately,  hopefully they would up their game in the 2020/2021 season.

Well, even as a Barca fan, I cannot disagree. Just looking at both Real and our performances last season, and the disgraceful ways we both exited CL, I have got to say, this is the time to rejoice for anyone else who wants a crack at it. Good luck to Atletico, I always liked them, except they have to change the way they play, same as Sevilla, so you don't just become Europa boys.

@kassex I don’t think that Real Madrid will surrender the title that they had won last season so soon, because if you observed then you’ll notice that they performed exceptionally well once the season had resumed post the covid break. @nelson4luv defeat in champions league is one thing, and loosing in the La Liga is totally different, therefore you should not underestimate Real Madrid’s chances of winning the La Liga once again.

God, save BTC!
And I would like to see Atletico Madrid win! Their level is not worse than that of Real or Barca!

By the way, I had no doubt that the rumors about the departure of Messi is just an advertising campaign...

If in this new season Atletico and Sevilla able to show some good display of game then hopefully we will able to have some good and entertaining games because now these both teams have quality to challenge big giants which is very healthy for La Liga Barcelona crisis also can help these two teams to have some better things in new season.

I agree Atletico can be a serious threat for Barcelona and Real Madrid to fight for the title this season. From the quality of the players,
Atletico have several star players who can make Atletico win La Liga, despite the percentage of chances still under Barcelona and Real Madrid.
But for Sevilla I am not sure they can compete for the title this season. With Sevilla's inconsistent play and quality players are still standards
difficult to imagine Sevilla can compete with big team like Barcelona and Real madrid.

This messi saga is indeed shaking the world with millions tweet has been made since that fax ( although i suspect that there's a plot twist that the one who sent fax are mateo messi , yeah that savage kid who messi himself called him softly as ' a little son of a bitch ' lol )

Everything is already decided.
It is just a piece of Marketing all this situation and the teams that asking for Messi. I guess that he has already decided where he will go and the agreement is already settled by both sides.
Now I am also feeling its all Marketing piece as just few hours ago new announcement from Barcelona President that Messi is going to stay here all matters settled now we are going for new contract its really big drama hopefully now heading for end in next few days.

I doubt he'd get in trouble but he's probably not saying anything because nothing is confirmed on either side so he's best to keep quiet until something is finalised. Messi has informed them he wants to leave and Barca are saying it's not valid and they may or may not be right. It's a grey area with covii delays, but either way they won't want him to go and especially not for free. Messi will have no problem finding another club but he might also just be using this as a bargaining chip to try get his own way and get people out of the club he doesn't like along with a meatier pay packet which Barca will probably all too happy to pay to sort the drama out quickly. I read today that the clause in his contract was that he can leave at any time as long as he gives 20 days notice before the start of the season, which may make it valid as he faxed in his notice on the 25th and the La Liga starts on the 13th. It looks like Messi's father is doing the bargaining right now in Barcelona so I'm sure we'll hear news soon. I still think he's likely to stay. To get a deal of this magnitude wrapped up within two weeks seems a stretch and it would be far easier for him to stay and work on a deal with City to leave at the end of this season. Maybe he could even go out on a high note and win something with Barca this season but my money's not on them right now.
Aaand yupp i think more than 50% media now reported that messi would likely to stay at Barcelona especially with recent Bartomeu and Jorge Messi have met which become a strong signal as pretty clear previously Bartomeu says will reject any meeting requests with any of messi's agent , well here we go .

Wonder what they discuss?  That's the reason why paparazzi and reporters continuously following Messi's dad lol , can't imagine if i were Messi's dad, must be frustrating.

They will get ride of them soon or later, so better to do it early while trying to build a new and good squad. Some players like dembele and griezman have to follow them and find another team imo...
For Messi, it is still not clear, there was a meeting yesterday between his father and the president which ended without any result. Messi seems to stick with leaving Barca while Barca would profit from the huge fee in the contract...and of course no team seems to be able to pay that fee. Messi didn't join training right now and he may get sanctioned in the next days.

He's either going to leave for free or stay. I very much doubt any club can afford or even want to pay his ludicrous by out clause, especially when they could just wait a year or so and get him for free. It would be in Messi's best interest to go for free anyway as he can then go wherever he likes and get the best deal possible for himself which wouldn't be the case if he had to be bought as it would basically mean Barca will ship him off to anywhere to whoever pays the most. It's a similar situation with Gareth Bale. He's not going to go anywhere unless they match his Real contract which isn't going to happen as he's on a shitload so it's best that he just runs his contact down then leaves to whatever club he wants as a free agent. He's unlikely to get even half of what he's on now so it makes sense for him to just sit on the bench earning £600,000 a week or whatever he's on.

It seems that Barcelona has finally made a good business decision  Grin
The departures of Ivan Rakitic, Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal will save the Catalan club some 40 million euros in wages per season.

Given the very poor state of finances in Barcelona, a very good thing for them  Cheesy

A good business decision maybe, but it looks like half their first team is potentially going to leave, possibly including Messi. At least that would probably save them 100 million. Still no real update on his situation with Messi's father only saying that it's a difficult situation but also that he hasn't spoken to Pep which is a bit worrying regarding his potnetial move to City:

Quote
As Jorge made his way, on foot, down an underground car park ramp, he was polite enough to entertain some questions. Staying at Barcelona will be "difficult" - in fact, he said it would be "difficult" three times. Then he added: "No. I have not spoken to Pep."

I'm sure he'll stay and all this is just a stunt by Messi to show he's willing to walk away if he doesn't get the terms he wants.

They made some big transfers and some of those are for unknown reasons (Dembele and Griezman). Coutinho's failure in Nou Camp is a big secret but I honestly admit that I can not understand why Bartomeu accepted to pay too much money for Dembele. Griezman can be understood but as an neutral observer, he does not belong to the traditional tactics of Barcelona. Dembele is sensitive to injuries and he is unprofessional as well. At least some hope with Griezman and Coutinho with the new coach, new tactics from Koeman.

How did the transfer fund flow from those big transfer? Did Bartomeu or board members have shady benefits from it? Maybe time will tell.
