Bad start for my favorite club Real Madrid. I saw Real having the ball but they didn't score. As for Benzema, he's too deep to have the ball, I see he's not at his best performance.
Talking about Benzema, he isn't a bad striker, he is good. But yes, he doesn't really a striker with predator instinct. And not really good at the positioning. As a fan, I have expected a long time ago to see another top striker replacing his position in Real Madrid. I think Real Madrid needs a striker like Lewandowski, Kane, Aubameyang, or Agüero who can battle a lot with opposite defenders in the front line.

Real Madrid is fully depended on Benzema. They haven't any alternative. We know a player doesn't stay in form all year round, an alternative scorer is needed. Benzema was in great form last season, and so I think won the title only for his performance. I look forward to seeing what Real Madrid will do if Benzema loses his form in this season.

Real Madrid doesn't have a good striker. Zidane doesn't trust Jovic or Mariano. He doesn't give them a chance. That's his mistake in my opinion. If he gave a chance like Benzema, believe me, Jovic and Mariano would have scored more goals than Benzema. Perhaps that this kind of love for Benzema also repels other strikers from moving to Real Madrid.
There is nothing to take away from real Madrid mask man Karim Benzema last season he was a focal point to real Madrid winning the Spanish league, his goals speaks in deafening volume only few strikers lewandowski, immobile vardy where as good or better, so zidane didn't have much of a choice in strikering selection. And no Bale this season for real Madrid, Benzema experience is what they can Bank on.

Furthermore, regarding Covid-19 Martin Odegaard when the first test was tested positive but the second test was negative. I hope Martin Odegaard performs and can play well against Real Betis this week.

It's incredible what Barca board is doing. Free transfer of Suarez to Atletico is something hardly understable. They just improved squad of direct competitors. Yeah, he is already old, slow and fat, but still high level player. I'm sure that he will make lot of troubles for Barca this season.
I could not believe it myself. I understand that his best years are behind him and that his wage is a problem for the club due to corona crises and loss of revenue but I am sure some solution could have been found. It seems like he really cares about Barca and I guess they could have talk about wage reduction and contract extension with him ending the career there. I don't know how much is club policy and how much is Koeman trying to show he is the boss.

Regarding Suarez as a striker, no matter the years he is still top player. Those volley shots of his are incredible and there is no other player in the world that hits them that good. He will be great in Atletico and this could be the year when both Real and Atletico finish before Barca. Sevilla could find them selves near the top as well.

All that being said, can't wait for the first Barca game to see what we can expect from them. As always a lot will depend on Messi and we need to see if he will play on his best after all those transfer problems and loosing his best friend in the squad (Suarez).

3rd best scorer in Barcelona history. There was ups and downs in these 6 years, but Suarez definitely came into history of Barca. And MSN trio (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) was probably best attacking triio I ever saw.
I watched emotional Suarez farewell and it's obvious how difficult for him to leave Barca.
Guys, have you checked "La Liga standings" right now? In the first and second place, no big teams are there. I am a bit surprised by this result even if it is still matchday2 and some big teams still didn't play yet (Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla). But I never imagine before that Real Madrid, Valencia, and Villareal started this season with unsatisfying results. Now, Granada and Real Betis are leading the table! Amazing starts done by these two clubs.
I don't see nothing strange because just 2 rounds were played, while big teams haven't played yet or had just 1 game. Real Betis improved their squad and have great manager Pellegrini, so, they can fight for UEFA spots. While Granada were already solid last season. And forget about Valencia - they have turned into mediacore team with current management. Smiley

Barcelona coach Koeman is slowly beginning to realize how difficult his job in Barcelona will be.
He has problems with the players and the Barcelona management has not stood behind him and doesn't support him.
Do you also have the feeling that he has already been sacrificed and that he is only a transitional solution to Barcelona?
Without the support of the player and the club management what he can actually do?
We will most likely watch another failed Barcelona season while the relentless struggle of board members for power at the club continues.

Koeman: wazzup people, U Messi U have no more privileges, U Suarez U R fired, U (another player) U R out...
Koeman: U no love meh?
Too lazy to make a meme but it is normal for Barca players, oldies or not, to not like him since he is a direct threat for all of them. If he succeed then he will be a champ, if he fails he will be humiliated and made responsible for all the catastrophic management and damage done to Barca. So yeah awkward situation  Lips sealed

Declining careers and still the highest and the third-highest goalscorers of Laliga last season!!
It was awful decision from Barca board to accept Atletico Madrid bid for Suarez. Barca has potentially given edge to its direct competitor. Suarez still has good couple of seasons left in him and being Barca fan, I would be lot happier to see him on Barca bench making some impactful substitution across the season rather than being the front man of Simeone's team.
The reason Barcelona management want to let Suarez off may be because the coach doesnt want him to be in the Barca squad anymore due to age. Although he is one of the top goal scorers he is no longer young and unhappy when he fails to repay the coach and management's trust that can make the team uncompetitive. I believe that Suarez is not at this point yet, but the team will need some adjustment and refreshment going forward.

I don't think due to age Barcelona want to release Suarez. Because if the reason is only his age, then why they didn't release Messi? I think Koeman don't like Suarez. And he wants some lively young players is his team. He has long-term plans. But I don't think Barcelona will be able to play well this season. Because it takes some time for new players to adapt to the team.

Nothing to surprise here. Granada had firing start to the season last year as well. The team even beat FCB at home in the start of the previous season and was the table topper for few matchdays. But now comes the real challenge, an away game against Atletico Madrid. I am pretty sure Granada will lose some points in this one.

While, Real Betis has to face reigning Champions at home. Madrid will win this one ease and go. Third seated Villareal will face Barcelona at Camp Nou and expected to lose 3 points as well.

So after Matchday three, although top three will most probably remain same but all three are expected to lose this weekend.

Suarez had great teamwork with Messi, hence his high performance. But lately, the decline in Messi's game surprisingly coincided with the decline in Suarez. In Juventus he would have been able to revive his career. There are still lower speeds. And in Atletico Madrid, it is unlikely ...

Well I think the Juventus story is over and Suarez will not 99.99% be there this year. There is claim he cheated the test for Italian language in order to accelerate getting the citizenship, so...
After Morata moved to Juve, Suarez way to ATM is cleared and the deal will be signed anytime soon, then we will see how he will accommodate with Simeone tactics Wink
Atletico Madrid was the only option for continuing Suarez's career at the top level. After Juventus, of course. And if it were not for the exam and the accusations of cheating, Suarez would have gone there. Morata was loaned because it did not work out with Suarez. will play for a couple of years.

Until now, koeman cleaning strategy made Vidal to join Inter Milan and soon Suarez to join Atletico Madrid (discussion about Morata moving to Juve too in a loan deal)! source 1, source 2
I would like to see Suarez in ATM and would enjoy watching him beating Barca and make Koeman regret maybe kicking one of the top players and scorer of his team in a humiliating way...
I do not think that Suarez at the moment can represent a real danger. He rested on his laurels for too long, and is unlikely to get back in shape. And Morata will sit on the bench and sometimes come on as a substitute.

Never underestimate Suarez. He has plenty of experience, and usually is a real attacker. Always at the good position. He made many important goals. Besides that, what can be worse than putting an attacker instead of Griezmann? He was not even good enough for Barcelona B the last season. No idea what happened to that guy. He lost all his magic.

La Liga standings
1. Granada

3. Villareal

5. Valencia

I wonder what the position of these teams will be in 3 months? Real Betis and Celta Vigo will be at 13 or 14, but I doubt they will end up below positions 7. Granada, Villareal and Valencia at least have a chance of being between positions 5 to 12.

Note:
- Real Madrid : 1 draw (1 match)

we are the champions of last season, this year we will let Barcelona win at least so that they can recover psychologically after the defeat against Bayern in the champions league.  Grin

and speaking in Barcelona:

FC Barcelona - Villarreal CF

I want to watch this game. after 10 minutes I will place my bet.

I agree with you . The club Barcelona has been very abusive with Suarez . Suarez has tried his best to improve Barcelona. He gave us many good and enjoyable matchs . He is still in great form . We don't know why Koeman wants to dropped him from the team . Hope Suarez will played well in his new team .
Not only that, I think Suarez has also changed his character in the field in every match, because I only know that Suarez in the past had traits that might be bad but at Barcelona he can change that all into a better person. That way, Suarez deserves to stay at Barcelona and whether there is a new plan to make a new strategy later, Koeman should be able to keep Suarez at Barcelona because the existing player will make his new strategy easy to implement.

Yes. I think Liverpool also take credit for that. That was the last time Suarez had shown his bad past, and they really made him into a guy who fought hard and stopped biting haha, so by the time he came to us he was a changed person.

He was a good servant, and even if Koeman doesn't like him, no need to tell him he is not needed. Respect the servant for what he did for us. I'm happy for him, may he do well in Atletico.

Here is a video (twitter) showing Suarez (crying when) leaving Camp Nou, maybe for the last time? It is rarely for me to support someone this way but a minimum recognition and respect are a must imo. I respect him for not choosing easy money, golf and mocking his team Undecided

Oh boys, no offence but for me at least, I can't compare Suarez to Griezmann right now. Suarez is way better, I believe he still has many potentials and can recover from his injury and play like he used to do before. For Griezmann, he is a little bit better than average players that found himself in a used to be a good team. He isn't Messi and won't be, he isn't Benzema, he isn't even lazy Bale, Tongue

I also still believe in Suarez's abilities, and Suarez is a productive striker at Barcelona. So I think it's a bad decision to get rid of Suarez
from Barcelona. But Koeman's decision was irreversible, and from the start Koeman didn't need Suarez at Barcelona. So even though
Suarez stayed at Barcelona his career might be ruined, because Suarez will rarely be played by Koeman. Indeed, Suarez should move
from Barcelona.

Sorry guys I'm with snipie and Shasha here. Not just because Suarez was part of the super trio that won us so many titles, but because just watching him even at any age and at any condition, injured or not, he gives it all every game. Griezmann less so and yes I think he is good but he hasn't truly impressed me with his attitude. Suarez is hungry forever, and tenacious, and I think as a club we have treated him so poorly I'm ashamed of it.
