In other news one of my S7 seems to have dropped down to 2.69TH for some reason. The other one is fine on the same pool so its not the network or pool.

Prompt support on the speed drop, what did they get you to do?

Rich

Me? Nothing.

They always just say its fine, 9/10 they reboot them I reckon, I've stopped asking now, once I let them know it seems to magically recover.

My other S7 was fine on the same pool so logically it could only be a problem with the second s7 or unique to the infra around it, no matter what anyone says. Smiley

avalon delayed the shipment of a6 to the end of this week, bitmain release new s7 now, seems like new s7's hashrate is not stable for single unit, so they want to sell according to real hash rate of miner, the price for large order exceeding 1P hash rate is 430$ per T h/s. so i will sell according to 470$ per T h/s(40$ for psu and other fee). you can reply with how much hashrate you want to buy, then i can decide how much i should order.
Ok
new s7, 470$ per T hash/s Smiley

$470 per T hash/s seems really expensive

The S7 at 4.8 t h/s would equate to 4.8x470 = $2256

Maybe I'm missing something here? Do we pay electricity cost?

Edit: Maybe 370$ since the new batch 5 at 4.86 at 1799 bitmain price is $370 per T h/s

@pcfli bit of a miscalculation there. you added $40 psu onto each 1th/s! guess it should be more like $40/4.8 ths = $8.33/ths

also, based on the original $1980 that would amount to 1980/4.8 or $412.50/ths so this new batch from bitmain is costing more.

Am I the only one with defective S7 till now?
I don't know if that correlates, but mine has degraded slightly in last days. Very strange.

Same here. I have two but last few days it degraded slightly

Li,
What is the status with S7 repair? Am I the only one with defective S7 till now? Do You know what was the defect? If it was because of small heatsinks falling other users are reporting, maybe You should think of positioning S7s in Your farm in a way that board with glued heatsinks will be at the horizontal top position.
Thank You in advance,

that is a decent idea.  I may do it with my two at home.

The avalon has 1 advantage for sure it runs off a rasp pi so if you only have 1 of them and the rasp pi dies you can have a spare on hand.

the s-7  can piggy back 9 blades on 1 controller.

so in order to have a spare you need 2 s-7's.  that is in favor of the avalon .

also the 4.1 could be under volted and downclocked from  .7 watts a gh to .46 watts a gh.

so maybe the avalon 6 could be made to do 3000 gh at 700 or 650 watts  this is not known.

Also none of the above affects lee as he was thinking of selling this as cloud product.

I am waiting for this, if it can improve it's efficience, then i'll love this miner...  Roll Eyes

Per the "avalon 6 vs S7" thread recent posts, they are a hair worse efficiency than the S7, 3.65 TH vs. 4.86/4.66 (depending on batch etc), per my calculations should soak about 1100 watts at the wall with a 90% power supply, and the only price posted to date is higher per TH than the S7.

Unless that price drops a lot, I plan to ignore them - my standard RoI estimate shows them barely managing RoI (they hit RoI in very late June 2015 per my estimate), if I don't include shipping or cost of power supply, at 3 cent/KWH electric - which I don't have access to yet.

That DOES assume they actually start shipping on November 10, and 3 days to actually get shipped (which is what I commonly see for overseas "overnight" delivery).

The S7 on that same calculation and same terms achieves RoI about a month sooner - *IF* you can get one ordered today (they've been "out of stock" most of the last couple weeks).

thanks. let's see if lee managed to get a volume discount with his 3phs order which would have a positive effect on roi

sorry, went to beijing to meet avalon and bitmain for 3 days and donot visit forum during this time
...

Hi pcfli,

what news do you have from Avalon?

Regards.

spiccioli

As a matter of fact, i have ordered 3P hashrate from avalon, they told me they will ship them to me on 31th Oct. but i think it is hard for them to keep the word, as their chip still on the way to factory until yesterday.
however, it is not easy to sell avalon miner to your guys because they use one raspberrypi to control 60 unit miner=60*3.5=210T. so i prefer to sell those avalon as cloud mining hashrate.

I would be interested in this.

BTW if you wanted to you could split them and add the raspberrypi as an extra cost.  But it would mean a lot more wires and switches.

I ran 3x   4.1's   on one rasp pi worked out well for me.

You would need to do 3 units or more   maybe 5 units or more.

So these Avalon units run at 3.5Ths? How much power do these puppies need? Are they better or comparable to the s7?
