We could let the pawn unprotected for this moment. I think if we don't do this he could play Nxe4 and then he destroys our position.

The problem I mentioned last move still applies. Rad1 does not stop it:

22.Rad1 Rxd3
23.Rxd3 c4 (forking our queen and rook which will be captured next move)

I still vote for 22. Ne5

Rad1 2 votes (Hueristic, dre1982)
Ne5 1 vote (xmrpromotions)

you're right. Then Qd1.   Grin

What does Qd1 stop? After he takes our rook on d3 we will have traded 1 pair of rooks and lost our d3 pawn for nothing. We will probably lose more material shortly after that due to our weak pawns and position of his pieces.

Knight to c3 please

His next move is pawn to c4 to directly threaten our Queen.

i vote Ne5
i don't like how our bishop is immobile
Ne5 strengths our position on the center of the board (by supporting d3 and e4)
as well as allowing the bishop some mobility. two birds with one stone

we do not need to worry about the rooks just yet

I think this is the best of the worst choices. I certainly don't see a better move and it's long past time those rooks get into action.

I can't follow what you're saying at all. We play e5 after Black recaptures, forking the knight and recapturing piece. There is only one way for Black to save both pieces, and it significantly worsens his position.

Right, that is why I'm saying Bf4 is not a good move. Although I see no reason why we would ever move Bxd6 in response to Bd6

Um, what about the reason you just quoted?

What about Nf4? That defends the d3 pawn.
You also threaten to play Nxe6 at an appropriate time.
If he tries to drive the pawn away through e5, you can play Ng6

Nf4 looks okay to me to as an alternative way to defend d3. All 3 moves above actually seem like decent options. I still slightly prefer Bf4

Didn't we just move that piece from f4? I think that's when I lost interest. Gonna sit back again as this is hurting my one braincell thats left. Smiley

Bf4 will allow Bd6.
But Black would never make such a bad move. 22. Bxd6 Qxd6 (22... Rxd6 loses material to e5) 23. e5 Qd5 (the only way to save both forked pieces) and the f6 knight is forced to retreat next move.

I'm to stupid for this, I can't understand what your tying to say in the bolded. This notation stuff is new to me just from this thread.

I'm saying
Bf4 will allow Bd6

Now your saying E5 right? Then Black will Bxe5 right? Then if Nxe5 then Qxe5. So e5 would be a stupid move after Bd6 right?

He is saying

21. Bf4 Bd6
22. Bxd6 Qxd6
23. e5 Qd5

Right, that is why I'm saying Bf4 is not a good move. Although I see no reason why we would ever move Bxd6 in response to Bd6

22. e5 Bxf3
23. Bxf3 Bxe5

That is also my point why Bf4 is a bad move and that he would respond with Bd6.

or

21. Bf4 Bd6
22. e5 Bxf3
23. exd6 Qb7

exd6? No then it would be
23. bxf3 Our bishop taking his bishop. We would exchange a knight for a bishop and would come out ahead on that exchange correct?
