The only superstition I regard as logical is not to walk under a ladder...because you could
get injured.

I'm aware of the stigma attached to #13 but its just generated by human speculation
and in terms of the famous last supper - fiction.

I would love to know has anyone here won on #13 or not won on #13 because you avoided it?

IMO its just a number in between 12 and 14. Isnt the number 9 considered bad
luck in Japan?

Some of the superstitious concepts that you explain will certainly develop and will be different in each country, but about the number 13 which is the unlucky number to choose has become a common thing and even not only in gambling, in all business sectors the number 13 is avoided a lot because of the superstitious concept that underlies it.

Superstitions like this will indeed affect everyone's mentality, and those who believe too much will be carried away in their subconscious that every failure and profit in gambling is due to these superstitious rituals or not.

In my country Indonesia there are several superstitious concepts that are always believed when to buy a lottery number and here it is called ( TOGEL ), they ask for numbers from invisible creatures in the hope of getting lottery numbers that will come out later and also the numbers they choose also based on dreams and signs of nature that they experience.

There are even several books explaining every dream and event that happens so that it produces a lottery number that they will then buy in the hope that it will come out when the lottery number is announced.
This kind of superstitious practice has existed since ancient times, but now there are many people who do not believe in it.

I don't believe on a native things that such thing can influence gambling or attract luck for you to win gambling I don't concur on those things because I know that such thing might not work effectively as you may think and if it does it will have a negative impact is not that it will give you exactly result of what you want them must be a side effect on it so basically I know that the gambling is a total luck when you have the opportunity it is when it work for you a superstitious belief cannot bring any positive impact for you to win gambling with a fetish belief

We can say, some people still have their own beliefs when it comes to gambling. Even if we say, they are not in any way connected to our games, some people will really find a way how to make a connection out of it.
but it's not proper I understood exactly what is your point of view but with it such steps people follow I think that is not a good one or a proper step and gambling we should not think of a fetish life or superstitious life of a way to manipulate the gambling if it is something that do happen I think by now many people would have been a billionaire through gambling they would have consulted different kinds of oracle in order to manipulate gambling and the win a huge amount of money through gambling since all those things cannot work as we may think, that is why gambling always been luck, I can't believe that things can make you to win gambling, because we have different nature doctors that's interested in money making, if it's possible to manipulate gambling why didn't  them make money through gambling manipulation

b]#2 Whistling: [/b]Whistling while playing said to invite bad luck. This belief originates from sailors whistling which they thought to invite stronger winds and storm.

I have never heard of this superstitions before.

#3 Never count money/chips at the table: This is more of an etiquette and a way to protect yourselves but for some people they believe that doing this exudes pride which will invite bad luck and karma. Keep your money and count it when you get home.

This is from person to person though, I think it's important to count your chips at the table. So that you will now if you are already up and winning and might be thinking of going home or if you are down. Maybe you can also add those who are putting chips on their pocket while still playing. But then again, there are certain games that you really have to put your chips and not put in everything on the table, like roulette.

#4 Color Red: The color red is deemed lucky in many cultures. The color is believed to bring prosperity and wealth. Wearing red when you gamble is said to make you lucky. I also noticed that many casinos’ motif is red. Coincidence?

This one, yeah, I think it's well known in the gambling world, that's why when you go to a land base casinos, you will see a lot of people wearing red because of this belief.

#5: Front Entrance: They say that you shouldn’t pass through the casino through their front entrance as you may encounter a player who has lost and may therefore pass on their bad luck to you. Now, this one is borderline silly because what if a losing player leaves the casino through some other entrance and not the front one?

Anyway, Let me know if you do follow some superstitions even if it is just for fun. Or which ones you think are extremely ridiculous.

There could be casinos that have multiple entrance, but in any case you will still encounter a lot of player exiting who have lost already. So it's inevitable that you will cross path with them. But not sure if they can pass that bad luck to you.

Even if we say, they are not in any way connected to our games, some people will really find a way how to make a connection out of it. Very few gambling games rely on skills, most are luck-based games. So it is only the people who are making up those beliefs and it is up to them if they will rely on it or not.

Of the 5 superstitions you mentioned, I will only highlight two, namely the prohibition of whistling and counting money/chips on the table. Regarding whistling, when someone whistles it can indicate that someone is feeling comfortable and happy, and in gambling when someone whistles it can indicate that the person is holding a good card, and if other people know this signal then the person will immediately lower the amount of their bet or withdraw from the round. And of course this is a loss, because the person will get a smaller win.

As for the prohibition of counting money/chips on the table, this is a rule that seems to be made up. Because if we don't know the amount of money or chips we have, then it will be quite difficult to measure whether we are actually winning or losing. And this can make us uncontrollable or lose control when placing bets, continuing to play without knowing our financial situation. and this only allows us to experience many losses.

We often say that following superstitions would not cost us anything but for some, it may cause them mental distress and anxiety. Anyway, it is still pretty interesting to learn about superstitions and their origins no matter what your purpose is. Either just to laugh at how ridiculous it is or to meticulously follow them when you gamble, I don’t know but I would love to discuss!

It is quite ridiculous how some superstition are being believe by some gamblers. Why would someone think that when I share my bets with others that I am going to give away my luck to the individual that I just shared my bet with. I would not say I do not believe in superstition but there are some of them that are just not worth believing and sharing my bets is one of them. Nothing is going to happen when I share or not decide to share my bet. The worst that can happen is that we both lose money when the bet was a wrong one and when it was a right call, we both make money. There are so many superstition in my head but I can not list them all but let us not discriminate against those that believe in superstition but we can help them grow pass it.

In reality, such superstitions sound rather absurd. Although good-luck and bad-luck superstitions are prevalent in most cultures and believed by many, the fact remains that there is no palpable scientific proof that specific numbers, colors of clothing, or rules e.g. not counting money on the table can influence the outcome of the game. All these are purely the principles based on tradition and habits that have carried on for many years without any real grounds.

If you really think about it, gambling is more about probability and strategy than “fate” or “luck” and that comes from such little things like the doorway or the color of clothing. So, these superstitions can be said to be just for fun, for the heck of it, or as a way for someone to feel more “prepared,” but nothing more.

There's absolutely something about superstition that really matters alot in life and possibly in game of lucks and what makes it effective is the fact that people see things from different perspective and opinions, your perspective can really work to making you win a game and for me it might work to make me lose entirely that's how superstition works for different category of person's.

All the superstitions mentioned in the OP are new to me. I have watched people lose money from believing in superstitions and some gambling predictions from their dreams and from people with some supernatural powers. I do not believe in such, they are not real whether in gambling or not. But i will not deny the fact that Superstition has helped some people gamble with confidence which ofcourse influenced their win. For instance, when a gambler is told wearing colour red will give him good luck, he becomes very optimistic about his games and this can help him make better decisions. If he wins, he was just lucky and not because wearing red influenced his win. Many gamblers have worn red to the casino and still lost good amount of money.

The OP made interesting observations, of course, it was interesting to read. I even remembered when I made my first bets and after a big loss I took one talisman that brings money, but it did not help me and I threw it to the other end of the room, lol. It's funny to remember it now. However, I do not believe that the number 13 is unlucky, I have often encountered it not only in gambling, but in life and it seems to me that it brought me luck more often than had the opposite effect. I have already forgotten that you can't whistle, because I haven't whistled for 10 years, haha, but I am ready to believe this and I'd rather not whistle when it is possible not to do so.

One known belief, "beginners luck".
This is what we get often from the newbies that started to gamble. They're up for themselves being lucky because even them, they know that they could have been luckier than the rest of us. But this is just a one-time pass for the most and then when a newbie gets used to gambling, that's how the fate changes and there is no more beginners luck that can be said of. Because they're no longer a newbie, and they are going to bring up themselves playing all along understanding the concept and other strategies and maybe other superstitions too.

#2 Whistling
#3 Never count money/chips at the table
#4 Color Red
#5: Front Entrance
Superstitious believe has been in existence for long time ago and most people still believe in it. While others don't. Some things happened coincedntaly and people believe it because when they express themselves it happens often an on and people sees or believe it to be true. But nevertheless to me it's just a mindset that decieves people to believe in anormaly. What can you say about the #2 whistling while in the sea attracting storm? It doesn't have any connection. All I can say is that what you believe is what works for you. If we talk about  #4 wearing red clothes to attract good luck, what about those that often wear red cloth to gamble and they keep on losing? And also the number #5 front entrance being a source of bad luck? Then what if it's online gambling where non of this happen what can we say? Because all you listed conceding gambling superstition is base on physical casino not online casino.

I am honestly new to these superstition things or at least in my country people are not aware of this or not in practice here for sure. Usually here whistling is being said like not a good habit to develop. It means we should not whistle in front of elder people as it may seem like unrespectful to them. Other than that, I have never heard like whistling as a bad omen. We have a belief like counting will lead to decreasing. It means if we focus on counting then we will lose our concentration on actual business (here gambling). It means, here it is there but with a practical reasoning, I guess.

Discussing the gamblers' belief on superstitions is not a new topic here but this time I got a chance to learn what other country gamblers are following to maximize their chances of being lucky. Not sure, this may subconsciously may become a practice to myself as well. Yeah, I strongly believe this is how superstitions are spreading.

I am superstitious in that I don’t like to discuss my superstitions. I think if you do, you might as well walk underneath a ladder inside your house while holding a broken mirror and saying Beatlejuice over and over again. It’s best to just pretend that superstitions aren’t real to avoid being locked up in a looney bin.

Interesting points you have made OP, I did enjoyed reading every of the outlined superstitions and was just trying to think around the realities within this superstition and the "unlucky 13" really did caught my attention, I have not really paid attention to it before and I love making my picks on my tickets end at odd numbers and 13 is an odd number so it got me wondering if I should stop at 11 and not extend to 13 but then I don't really believe in superstitions and wouldn't want to believe it will take a toll on me either, there are also others who I believe don't take superstition seriously but anyways I learnt something new even if it doesn't really align with my beliefs.

Even outside of gambling, there are a lot of superstitious believe that is making a lot of things worse and I don’t think believing in superstitious things can make you to win or to lose in any game. It’s just based on luck and nothing else. Superstition is something that cannot be completely disregarded by some people but when it does happen as it’s in a superstitious way, I will only see it as another coincidence and not what people think it is.

I am also from a place where superstition is taken very seriously and people till date still believe in that and are careful when doing somethings just to avoid been caught up with that notion of it. Then I imagine what if and what if in many case studies relating to that and I just came to a conclusion for it to be a coincidence in the past and when it happened more often, they term it as something else and not believing in it happening naturally.

Anyway, Let me know if you do follow some superstitions even if it is just for fun. Or which ones you think are extremely ridiculous.
I don't follow any superstitions and I feel bad for the ones who does follow such useless things. I believe all of the mentioned superstitions are useless and have no relation with reality. The ones who trust those superstitions might get losses because of their own subconscious mind and nothing else.
