Has anyone run any scenarios on ROI and the timing of these miners? I think we'll be alright, but the latest difficulty jump got me thinking.

It's interesting that a Sunday was chosen as a deadline, and July 1 is a holiday in several countries.

Just like anything else, its all about timing and a starting point.  I have about 6 boards ordered and I'm hoping Avalon is working on the Next Generation chips. I Suggest if Avalon comes out with new Chips in the future, or New Units, we should assemble another Group buy. But the beauty of this is that we have already flushed out many of the fine details with Steamboat, including Hosting, etc. which will make this process much quicker if there is another product from Avalon.

Just posting this so that its on the record.

I'm in batch 2, and still awaiting payment info for assembly.

I have received test email, but no further emails.

I know payment deadline is 30June, and I have BTC ready to pay.

You need to email steamboat and he will give you the address directly.

I was in the same boat and did not receive the notification email. He replied within a few hours with the address.

I saw that the difficulty just spiked. Is it possible that Avalon will delay their chips as well, seeing as they delayed Batch #3 and are offering a refund? Won't it be extremely hard now to recoup my initial investment if I were to drop a couple grand on some ASIC chips? Every day it seems to get harder and harder to make money with it. Is it better to just buy Bitcoins and hold instead of dropping them on an ASIC?
I'm beginning to think we all may be lucky to just meet roi.  I would be interested in an estimate difficulty by the time batch 1-2 ship.  Any news from avalon on chip readiness?  Right now we should all be concerned.  I think I'll be reinvesting my earnings into asicminer shares and drop mining completely unless I can continually reinvest affordably to maintain profits.

I am actually scared to buy ASIC chips because I will need to drop several grand just to make it worthwhile. However, by the time the chips have arrived (if they are not delayed by Avalon), the difficulty will have gone up dramatically based on projections and the increase in network hashrate and I won't make my money back. The difficulty will go up so high that I will start losing money on electricity for running so many ASIC miners 24/7. ASICMiner was doing something 11 days ago and they dropped their hashrate. Now, ASICMiner's hashrate has gone up and is higher than it was before. They are climbing again and will continue to climb. This is actually not bad if you were to buy into ASICMiner shares. They pay quite well actually, better than the stock market. The only way to run with the big dogs now is to ride on their backs.

Is the assembly choice & payment deadline the start of June 30 or the end of June 30 (e.g. 23:59:59)?

In other words, how much time is left to order assembly?

Moot point to me now, order placed.

Think. Positive. Thoughts.
I went ahead and placed my order for fully assembled and tested units. Hopefully steamboat will answer the overclocking question soon enough.

I have 18 chips in Batch 3 (I believe) that I will like to transfer at cost to someone who is interested.

I would be interested in doing if Steamboat will be approving.

Interested in buying some of these. Can someone help me out. I see a June 30 deadline and 715 chips left and the wallet address shows over 5000 chips ordered. Is batch 5 still available at a June 30 deadline, or is batch 6 being ordered with a different deadline?

The June 30th deadline is for funding board assembly for those who have already purchased chips.( batch 1-5)  The group buy is still open for Batch 6 chips to be purchased.

Thank you. Batch 6 it is then.

Batch 5 has been ordered, so new orders are from Batch 6 (and it's possible that we reached the 5000 chip mark since the last time steamboat updated the thread subject). I believe steamboat said a few pages back that the June 30th deadline didn't apply to Batch 6 since it hasn't been ordered yet.

I'd like to be in on this group buy, and I want to buy 5 assembled boards.  I've seen posts from others indicating that they have placed orders (and gotten order numbers) for assembled boards but I don't see how to do that.  I've emailed and PM'ed Steamboat with no response.  Suggestions?

Page one of this thread has all the information needed to purchase the chips and specify , chips only, DIY kit, assembled and tested board etc..
The people who are ordering assembled boards now, are the "batch 1+" chip purchasers. The ordering site is a private URL only for those who have chips in the order pipeline.

If you want to get on the next available "batch" you need to purchase chips first and then wait for your turn to get them assembled into boards if thats what you need.  I am just speculating, maybe September timeframe for those buying chips today.

Any speculation on when avalon will ship batches 1-2 to steamboat?  Trying to plan an ETA for budgeting purposes.  Also will molex to 6 pin PCI-Express adapters be good for the K16's?  Also is there pins to short on the fully assembled boards to power on, or is there a switch?
Thanks
