I intended for this update to be flashier, but here it is.
A Florida based assembly house has been secured for assembly. Final pricing is TBA once the Letter of Intent has been signed, but know it will be under $60 and 72 hour turnaround from delivery to me.
I'll be back in the office much later tonight to answer any questions you may have and record purchases.
Enjoy,
Steamboat
Uh ... so there's a good chance these'll online before Avalon batch 3s then?
Yes. The plan is as follows.
In the days prior to chip delivery, the PCB and parts will be delivered and loaded in preparation for the run.
Once the chips are delivered, I am transporting the chips personally to the fab shop in a safe and legal manner, which is located a couple hours away.
Assembly will begin the day the chips arrive, if they arrive early enough in the day, otherwise work will start the following business day.
The assembly shop can produce one board per 6 minutes. The slowdown will be board testing to ensure functionality. (A testing process has not yet been developed, and will cost extra per board. You may choose to opt out of board testing)
I have arranged for end-of-day pickup of all completed boards each day, which will then undergo shipping with no additions, kitting and shipping, final assembly and shipping, or hosting, depending on the option selected.
It is possible for those who ordered early in each batch will have completed boards in the mail 36 hours after chip delivery. I expect all packages to be shipped no more than 72 hours after delivery to the assembly house.
Great news! Is there a way to see the expected shipping date of the batch 3 chips?
Not that I know of. 5/23/2013 + 9-10 weeks.
With the $35 estimated cost of the PCB and components, the current total is $95. Please note this does not include the heat sink, screws, standoffs, fan/s, usb cable, or power supply. Pricing for these items will be coming in over the next few days.
