It is my understanding that the Avalon ASIC order transactions are available here: https://blockchain.info/address/1FGAftzSTztFSB8LMwsrdCKTyqGY6zr3sU. Can you sign a message that would verify that one of those wallet addresses is yours?

That is correct. That page shows the wallet holding all the purchases.

I was given the unique payment address of 1P97q7hwgaowsD6wpXRWyrcU1Y5jLV3iym.

Sent my btc for a freaking asic! Bet it gets here before a bfl product Cheesy

That is pretty funny actually.

Just 2 questions:

1) What are your plans for PCB design and estimated costs to finished product?

2) Do you have a link or at least a preliminary pinout diagram of the chip?

Thankx.

I'm trying to learn more about this stuff.

1. I will release final numbers for PCB fab and assembly once I have them. The current designs are between 10-20 chips per board.

2. No

so whats the deal with the price increase?  and will I have to cover any future price increases if I order today?

I would like to close out this batch and order another. This batch has already been purchased and is processing. Risk decreases for those purchasing from batch one at a later date, and increases for me. The price increase reflects this.

Once purchased, the rate is locked in, and will not be changed. Any purchases made after the cutoff will be charged the updated rate.

So I'm guessing I should secure some chips right?  With 10btc in total for both assembly and chips should I spend 5btc on chips?  Or 3-4?

Hey guys I'm willing to hop on board,  totally new to asic mining, I'm a computer tech by trade but soldering a ton of chips doesn't seem fun to me.  Anyone have a breakdown of costs between chips and costs for a complete unit?  I live in the states and if anyone can provide me with some steps I should take I'll order some chips.  How much would it cost for a 50+ghs diy asic all said and done, or what will 10btc get me?  Thanks

That's the million dollar question. There are several spinoff projects in the works designing Avalon based pcbs. I am working with dev's to produce finished product miners, but I don't have numbers I'm willing to share yet. Burnin, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/work-in-progess-burnins-avalon-chip-to-mining-board-service-179769 , says he can do it for ~130 a board, 20 chips per board, +/- 10%. There are others quoting ~$135 for a 16 chip version.

Purchasing chips now reserves your spot in line once the miners are available. Generally speaking, PCB fab and assembly is expected to cost as much or less than the chips themselves, but I cannot guarantee anything. Those that purchase now will have a greater likelihood of receiving their miners before the majority of the chips come online, which increases their profit, but they do so with the knowledge that there are currently no finished open source designs available for manufacture.

Preliminary density is between 10-16 chips per board, depending on which design we go with.

Any idea when this will be decided? I'm waiting to pull the trigger, not knowing what I should plan for.

I will know more this week. I have offered a solution to another member that I will open to the public:

For those wishing to purchase complete rigs, I will buy/sell enough chips to complete their order depending on the amount of chips used per board. IE if you purchased 100 chips to make 10 boards using 10 chips, and we use a design with 16 chips per board, I will buy the remaining 4 chips, or sell an additional 12, to round out your order.

This does not mean if you purchase 100 chips for 10 boards I will sell you an additional 60 chips to equal 10 boards.

I am in the process of replying to emails and orders, I will update the thread once complete.

updated chips available in batch 1.

I should have more solid numbers on board fab and assembly prices early next week.

Hey steamboat,

Any status on your funded development efforts?  Any preliminary plans for density?  I'm thinking about ordering some more chips and am curious about how your plans compare to burnin?  Will your board assembly take place in the USA?

Thanks,

-Jay

Hey Jay,

Yes, we are moving along quite nicely with board dev. I am not willing to give any initial numbers yet. Preliminary density is between 10-16 chips per board, depending on which design we go with. Board assembly is being sourced oversees and in the US, depending on lead time. Assembly will be taking place in the US as time is of the essence once the chips arrive.
