ASIC hardware was overpriced from the get go. More competition, rising difficulty and (now) lower exchange rate are bringing the price down, because there's less buyers buying blindly whatever they can grab because they think they can print money for free. To a certain extent this was foreseeable.

Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but the best option would have been to design in Germany and produce in China.

He has lost a lot of money with the Avalon delivery delay and the Cryptx bitburner bitfury deal.
After the Bitfury boards, he has developed and manufactured A1 boards with the same design in early 2014.

But after the miner prices are decreased in may, june  - there was no way to selling these boards with any profit, the german production costs for PCB are too expensive.
We have bought 50 A1 boards in april from Burnin Mining and as the former boards they are great.
For example, the Coincraft Desk has a power efficiency of 1 Watt / GH/s, the bitburner A1 board using 0,825 Watt / GH/s at the same hashing power.
Our boards are mining since April, and no one fails...

In september we have started our green colocation project in Iceland (english translation will follow within the next few days):

Within this project he has moved all his own A1 boards together with our boards to Iceland and they are still mining now.
(Look at the "green energy" picture, you can see the boards working in a rack.)

He had some ideas, for example developing new boards with Spondoolies chips, but at the moment there is no way to do this for a profitable market price.
Companies like Bitmaintech has own ASIC's and much lower PCB costs in China and nobody is willing to pay more money for "Made in Germany" like Burnin Mining boards.
Only the possible ROI is important.

I think after being burnt twice (Avalon for one, Cryptx for two  ), his interest has probably moved elsewhere or he only deals on a corporation level.

Just imagine what he could do with some newer generation chips...

I'm just popping in here to say these Burnin's Avalon boards are the best Asics I've ever had in terms of reliability. The cooling on them is great along with a great interface that is rock stable using Cgminer. I bought something like 36 boards and while my shipment came damaged from the shipping carrier and I had to fix almost half the boards as some parts were ripped off. It's unfortunate what happened and I believe Avalon is what caused this whole thing. Burnin's design was great and he had everything lined up until Avalon dropped the ball on delivering the chips. Financially speaking, Burning got burned on this whole thing and the amount of time he dedicated to this endeavor unfortunately wasn't rewarding.

You can even replace it with a cheaper radial one instead of SMD (easier to solder too).

Anyone know a part number the silver cap next to the Phoenix power connection (C522)? Says 470 EFP 2JI1 on it?

I had a total of 0 emails/messages from people wanting to collaborate so I haven't made much progress yet, been a bit busy lately.

From what I've seen so far, it sounds like it is relatively inexpensive to take a dispute like this through the German civil court system. Local court if total under 5,000 euro, otherwise district.

I'm thankful Avalon did finally ship the chips (many months late) so I got my miner. Lost months of income off of it, but at least it works great.

So sad, that this disaster happened. I was responsible for the BitBurner Waterblocks. But I wasn't able too to get contact with Burnin afterwards. I have no clue what happened to him. Pls excuse my English.

What is burnins problem is that he offered a refund (50% now, or 70% later) then only refunded some. Many, including myself, would still have sent chips to burnin had the refund not been offered.

Definitely! How did the call to the lawyer go?
I'm not attempting or offering to do everything myself, just trying to get some organisation happening. We're going to have to gather and verify all the details before the actual legal action can get started.

My understanding was the refunds were only partial and based on the amount of sales that completed since there were no funds left over to do further refunds with? Keep in mind burnin ordered large quantities of parts and supplies that he could not return in order to full all of these orders, many of which were never completed because people didn't send chips to him to complete their order. Which also isn't burnin's problem, it was the buyer's responsibility to get the chips delivered to him for assembly.
