I modified driver-klondike.c in my cgminer source, changing KLN_KILLWORK_TEMP to 67.5.  So far they're doing fine like that.  I have them sitting in front of a boxfan.

How did you do this Huh You runing Ubuntu or Windows

Doesn't it compile on both platforms, and maybe even on mac too?

Aren't all the compilers etc etc required free open source software?

(Or free anyway, if you are forced to use some proprietary compiler on Windows?)

No idea............I just created a config(which if I change anything it don't work) & use a bat file..................I'm soooo lost  Roll Eyes

anyone experiencing fluctuating hash rates with these F16's?  Not sure what could be the issue but im mining on Eligius and my 7 miners are fluctuating from 33-45Gh/s, I'd like to keep them more stable at a hash rate of 40-45.  Could it be a power or cooling issue, do they run more stable at lower hash rates?  Or could updating firmware fix this?

These guys are very temperature sensitive, and CGMiner triggers a thermal shutdown at 53.5C and restarts at 45C.

What temps are you running at ? I suspect you're cycling, which might explain the fluctuation.

FWIW: I've had mine running solid for a few days now and they've settled quite nicely. One box fan blowing down on two wire racks housing these guys, with another floor fan blowing across them to keep 'em ventilated.

can anyone answer my questions here:

What are the springs and the white washers for?

What is a valid cgminer .conf file for these k16's and what does the parameters mean?

Is anybody running K16's using USB hubs?

For some reason, mine will only be recognized when plugged directly into the computer, but not when plugged into my Anker hub, which works fine for block erupters. Weird...

Thanks.

weird, im using some cheap staples brand usb hub and everything works, anker is a better brand, I use linux, maybe its a windows or hub issue?

Does anyone have K16's running with a killawatt meeter? Pics or it didn't happen! We are looking for Mhz you are running the K16s at + GHs + watts at the wall (from the killawatt meeter).
If you are chaining K16(s) off your computer PSU(power supply unit), then just take a reading with/without the K16(s) running (unplugged preferably) - this should get us in the ball park. Yes I know cgminer will load up the computer CPU resulting in more wattage draw, but it shouldn't be by much.

 What's the hash-rate of your coffee-maker ?

up and running on 3.7.2 cgminer, using cgminer-nogpu.exe no other options works fine.  Avg 4.2GH/s

For Windows: Once you have them powered up and plugged in, use the Zadig util to install the WINUSB driver. Do as w33mhz correctly stated above and when you are running on your pool go into cgminer config options and [W]rite to config file. Now the pool settings are saved in a cgminer.conf file in your cgminer file folder. Open the cgminer.conf file as a text document and add your options. For example i added "klondike-options" : "300", and each chip of mine is now running at 300hmz. If you get a json fatal error message when restarting cgminer after adding an option then you forgot a comma or made some other formatting mistake. I pushed them to 350mhz for a few minutes and had to stop. It took me a few reboots and reloading of drivers to get them hashing again. 300mhz is a safe stable overclock before critical overheat. Once you have done all this i recommend running cgminer in the background so you dont have to have the window in your taskbar 24/7 and adding a shortcut to the noWindow.vbs in your startup folder. As you can see i plan to forget about these things running for a looooooong time.

Could you show us a copy of your config file please, minus pool info of course  Wink

Also did you replace the no GPU exe Huh

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Whats the hash rate on that coffee maker?  Grin

But seriously, I didn't think the were gonna pull 60 watts! wow

Here, elect. cost $3.36 per month per K16. Great! Grin   If only the coffee maker could, I'd have a house full of them.  LOL

Bkkcoins should've gone with the 25Amp buck reg. He's not hitting the efficiency peak because they're getting maxed. They hit peak efficiency at between 6.4 and 8 Amps, now they're operating at or above spec (16 Amps and beyond), bad choice of buck reg there.

Here ya go guys, I have a certified digital elect. usage monitor I use on my rigs when benchmarking for world records. As you can see I hooked it up to my old server (Q9550) and it showing 474-472 watts, two 7790's, 6 BE's and 3 K16's @ 360MHz Grin

Unplugged the PCI-E connects (running from a corsair 1000 watt PSU) to shut down the K16's and now we have 292-290 watts.

Results:
474 - 292 = 182 / 3 = 60.666667watts

The K16s are NOT showing in device manager, correct.  I ran zadig several times, and rebooted several times.  No luck.
Does the computer show the "new device found - installing drivers" dialog when it is correct?

Do you have the fan connector hooked up to the header on the K16 ? If so, try unplugging and replugging in the fan connector (I know it sounds crazy; trust me on this one...)

Yes, you should see a "Installing new devices" dialogue pop-up in your toolbar when Windows recognizes the K16's

BRILLIANT!!!

Unplugging the fans, then plugging them back in allowed the klondike to initialize.  Showed up in zadig, installed the drivers, restarted.  Now they are hashing happily.  Thanks all.

As an aside for windows users, make sure you run cgminer as administrator.
