I have a Silverstone Strider Essential Series ST60F-ES, it has 4 PCIE connectors, if each PCI connector has only 75W and each klondike uses 60W wont I be able to only use 1 per connector rather than split each connector?  I thought originally each Klondike would consume 32W, but steamboat says the F16 uses 60W.  Any advice on this? Will I be able to power 8 K16's with this power supply or only 4

One of those 4 connectors is a 6+2 pin, which is designed for 150W. Assuming they use the same gauge wiring on all the cables, it should be safe to pull 150W from each 6-pin's as well (both 6 and 8 pin connectors use only 3 positive wires). Though I suppose the PSU's internal connections could be poorly designed. The PSU can do a total of 500W on the single 12V rail, so I'd say you can probably run 8 K16's without problem.

Each PCIE 6pin cable can supply 150 watts,so you can connect 2 per cable.I am doing just fine with 2 per cable on a 450 watt PSU:

Stop using branwallets
That power supply can only put out 500W at 12V, so 8x60W will be cutting it close.  If the PCIE wires are too thin to carry all your power you can just take it off the molex connections too.

The 75W rating is exceptionally conservative. You are fine to put two Klondike per PCI power line. You should be able to do 8 with no problems on that power supply.

I'm not a windows user anymore but it looks like you need to install the winusb driver, I'd mine from linux personally since its more secure and has better uptime stability

Found it and it's running well now.
~4.5 Gh/s average (over 5 minutes) @ 300MHz. Will be tweaking it later tonight.

Received mine this morning, hooked it up and I am getting this:

The actual mining that is being done is with my 7970, can't get the Klondike working. What am I doing wrong?

Here's my config:
Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "stratum.btcguild.com:3333",
"user" : "cmorris14_1",
"pass" : "123"
}
],

"failover-only" : true,
"klondike-options" : "300,50"
}

Can someone catch me up on what's going on?  I lost track since the forum was hacked.  I was in Batch 5 and asked for a refund but never got one.  I don't think I'd want one now since I paid in BTC.  Is steamboat shipping or are we still waiting for a finalized version?

You prolly are after the refund cutoff.  2 batches were shipped and received from YIFU.  Miners are still being developed. (actually just the bootloader thingy)  If you want your units shipped as is (before bootloader completetion) then you have to send him an email.  Otherwise you can continue to wait for your units.

Personally, I already received my units as is and don't understand what future firmware could possibly due since mine are mining exactly as expected, if not better.

It's crazy actually holding this thing in my hand, after all the work SB put into it.  It's extremely well made, and the packaging was flawless.  Thank you guys so much, I know you all went out of your way to make this happen.

Now to go plug it in....

Hey Steamboat, just checking in to request an update on assembly refunds. Unlikely you will respond soon, but just pointing out that no one has forgotten.

Now that you have things going again, please spare a thought for those of us who placed our trust with you for the assembly.

I would either like a refund or if possible I am also open to using the parts with 55nm chips if this is possible

That thermal grease should be non-conductive, so no problem with that.

Hmm... okay, so no silver in it yeah?

I'm a bit lazy so I've not checked this myself, but are there thermal vias for the buck reg, or is the hot face up from the board, rather than down thru vias like the avalon chips?

Ok, measured the resistance of the compound, and it turns out to be non-conductive. Firing up them babies too then.

So I got good news for Steamboat. I went and collected the miners even if it takes a year to make back the VAT I had to fork out.

Anyway, back home I opened the miners and disover the... invoice... ok, more on that in a bit.

I also discovered a bit upseting thing, namely that two of the 5 miners had thermal goo coming out of thru holes or vias all over the PCB. These two units weren't
packaged in the pink styrofoam (pink styrofoam == non static generating) but regular white packing styro... this styro can make several Kilovolts during transportation... not good. (It may be antistatic too, but I've never seen it in white colour)

Back to the invoice again; Turns out the VAT I paid was for units costing 133 bucks a pop (that included testing) while the assembled but non tested units afaik was 95 bucks a pop.  So when I told SB to send my miners as is, he still put on the package the price with testing...

So now I got 3 miners hashing away (soon... setting up software) and 2 miners I don't dare plug into any electricals until I figure out if they'll even work... with all the goo mess and static discharges they may have been victim to.

What you guys think?

I too am disappointed by the lack of timely assembly/testing/hosting refund processing.

We paid in BTC, not dollars. So we should actually get more back than we paid, in theory.

I would have to agree. In my opinion, because bitcoin in itself has interest, as it constantly rises, our assembly refunds rightfully must be returned to us in the form of which we payed, in bitcoins (in denomination of cost based on the time history for which we payed for them when they were worth $80-$120 ea. per BTC).

Because for a ridiculous example, I payed $560 for Assembly in bitcoins, of which at the time they were worth ~$112 ea., be it that I sent ~5BTC for assembly, if by happenstance in the future a bitcoin increased to an extreme value (which it possibly may) such as $5,000+, that is $25,000 that I could have simply sat on--significantly more than being returned $560 assembly refund based on USD such as, I would get only .112BTC back in this extreme example, when initially it was 5 BTC i sent over (44 times that!)

Prices were quoted in usd.  If btc had gone down in value you would be complaining and wanting your refunds in usd.   The constructive, useful, interesting posts in this thread and only just enough to keep people here.  I'm desperate for the refunds to be paid out so the whining will stop.

This is bullshit!
I demanded my full refunds months ago, when the price of Bitcoin was nearly a third of what is it today.

So either pay up in BTC or using those rates.

Look, it's not bullshit. Steamboat said that Assembly prices were $USD, payable in bitcoin. You paid a USD amount in bitcoin and asking for an equal number of bitcoin (much greater $USD value, which SB paid for components/assembly/shipping costs-these are all paid in USD) is unfair to Steamboat. You knew the risks; Steamboat is human, just like all of us, and doing his best. Patience is a virtue (I'm looking at you cardcomm) and this will be sorted out eventually. I'm not pleased with how things turned out either, but it's an unfortunate reality and we were all informed and took the risks involved.

yamancool63 - Are you now? How special for me. As I've stated before, I'm only being impatient because of the embarrassingly long time that elapses betweens each of Steamboats "updates", and the fact that so many unanswered questions remain after each one. If he'd been keeping us in the loop in a friendly manner like he did at first, I'd be patient as hell.

Instead, he started doing "business updates" with long delays between. I don't take well that, and I believe I have the right to say so. I'll shut up once I get my assembly refund.

TomKeddie - Sorry for cluttering up "your" thread with group buy business. I, too can't wait for my refund so I can abandon this thread forever. Meanwhile, perhaps the technical discussion fit better in the original Klondike development thread. Or you could just start you're own thread and keep it all pristine.

I'll continue to voice my opinion here as politely as I can manage. If my comments have insulted anyone's delicate sensibilities, I invite you to use the ignore feature.
