I don't remember what the value was exactly, but say you paid $130 for everything and BTC was $100 at the time, you paid 1.3 BTC, right? Now that BTC is $220, you can expect 0.59 BTC back for your $130.

In BTC, that is what is called losing value.

True. I supposed the prices were denominated in $.

I'm just hoping SB saying "You will not be punished for our lack of timely response in this matter" is accurate.

I can agree with you there.

I just hope to god SB tax declared it as valueless, or very low value, similar to the refund value or something... (ie paperweight of educational value only) or I have to pay another 200 bucks in VAT on import... that's gonna suck balls... I may consider just refusing to collect the shipment and let it return to Steamboat if that is the case...

It arrives tomorrow, so we'll see...

It was? I was sure I paid in BTC for everything. But it's been a while so I might be wrong.

Yes you paid in BTC, but it was priced in dollars.

Paying in dollars was not an option, and last year btc was priced in dollars, as it is today. So that has absolutely nothing to do with it.
We all paid for the whole thing in BTC only. Where you got that BTC to begin with is another story.

Exactly.

I don't recall the exact numbers, but let's say that assembly was $50, denominated in BTC at the time (let's say it was $100/BTC for the sake of argument) = 0.5 BTC

If we got that 0.5 BTC back, that's now worth ~$110 so we get back more in $ than we paid.

Only the chips were in BTC, the assembly was converted to dollars.  So we'll get much less back than we put in.

We paid in BTC, not dollars. So we should actually get more back than we paid, in theory.

Assembly refunds:

Many of you are still waiting for information regarding the assembly refund process. We understand the wait is aggravating, and appreciate your patience in this matter. Our resources are finite, and the work load for this project has increased substantially due to reasons outside our control. We will be publishing more information when we are able, and can assure you the solution will be as fair as possible. You will not be punished for our lack of timely response in this matter.

Effectively, we will, because the price of BTC keeps going up and we paid in dollars. So even if we wanted to just reinvest in BTC, we're losing money.

Too busy, seriously SB...?

"Ummm, yah, remember all that money you guys gave me to finance this project? Yah, I'm too busy to look into refunds for products and services that you're not receiving. Ya'll can just wait until we get around to it, so in the meantime, f--k off."

Your words are saying one thing, and your actions are saying something completely different.

Received my tracking, kind of excited. Don't know why, they're pretty useless now.

I guess I'll keep one or two as a reminder about preordering anything LOL.

If I get the units shipped in their current state, that means
1.  No chaining units. I2C not working.  So, can I use a USB hub and just plug every unit in via usb and that works fine?

2.  No bootloader.   So that means that I cannot easily download new firmware, I have to use a special pickit controller?  So, say a firmware with a bootloader got created, I would have to solder a header onto the board for a PICkit controller, then use the controller to download the firmware to each board?

I'm fact checking here.  Anyone who can verify, please go for it.

To your first point: Correct,no chaining as of now,& yes a hub works just fine  Cool

Second point:You'll need a Pickit3,its the red one,no soldering, the "pads" on are back by the USB port. You will need a POGO adapter.

Ok, I  just ordered one of these. Not clear if it comes with the so called POGO adapter (it looks like it might...?? maybe??). Need confirmation on this.

So, if I sent an e-mail to Steamboat, will the K16s come blank so I would have to flash them? I paid for the complete assembly and testing and the deluxe kit thing...

I'd really like to have these hashing, it's been such a dream for so long, I think I'm still hallucinating...

You won't need to flash the units, unless your a tinkerer & want to upload future updated firmware  Wink  You'll be good to go when you get them  Wink

As of now they mine just fine  Cool

Seriously; why is anyone still using Eclipse after seeing how Inaba/BFL Josh has treated the BTC community..?

I recommend Bitminter og Eligius. Great pools with good and friendly support!

Doesn't some of the hardware or software ship with the Eclipse info entered by default?  Some people probably just buy the stuff, turn it on, and never change anything.  heh..

Ok, I've been reading all day about different mining pools, DGM vs PPS etc.  I am not as experienced as you guys and would like to know what to look for in a mining pool, which pay the most and if DGM or PPS is better for our miners.  Right now im running on EclipseMC PPS with Eligius as a backup, any suggestions would be awesome since our group totally got screwed by YIFU.  I'm trying to maximize the amount I can possible earn with these.  Any suggestions?

EMC mining in DGM was good for me for awhile then Josh couldn't keep his servers running for whatever reason.I went to Eligius & its more steady,ALOT better  Grin

One of my K16's had thermal paste all over the bottom in between all the chips and circuits, doesnt hash at all says unknown work and 0,0 hash/s.  All other miners are perfect, just someone went a lil crazy with the thermal paste lol, hoping steamboat will replace this for me.

Edit: tried my best to clean it with a q-tip, nothing, gonna set this aside and hope steamboat keeps his word which I think he will, real decent guy imho

I don't think the thermal paste is the cause of the problem.

Have you tried any other clockspeeds besides 350MHz?
Thanks for asking, yes 300,325 as well, wonder how I can troubleshoot this
