i can use this 'database' for create a REST api?
I'm not entirely sure what this means, but if you can use the data: that's what it's for!

I think what babo is looking for is a bare-bones API that returns OK or KO (no HTML etc) for a single user. Or perhaps he's creating one, not sure Smiley

True, but it's still better than overlooking the unbans entirely.
By the way, we should mark the day 09 May 2019 as important day to say one year anniversary of plagiarsim-finding bot next year. Furthermore, from 09 May 2020, there are so many permanent banned users whom got signature bans as alternative punishments will be fully back. There will be important day around 09 May 2020.
Yesterday, 400 users got banned. The day before, 300 users got banned.

If it is what you plan to do, next update with unbanned and reactive users might only be scrapped after next 60 days at least.

I have a better plan (added to my Todo): I'll use my recent scraper, and remove any user who creates a new post. That should work for most unbanned users.
You are right, I reckon it's a better thing to do and it should work just fine because I didn't even have a thought of all those who had the permanent ban lifted still having a 60-day ban on posting.

If it is what you plan to do, next update with unbanned and reactive users might only be scrapped after next 60 days at least. I don't remember all recent unbanned cases, but most of them (as I remember) get at least 60 days of bans, simultaneously with year-ban of signature. Anyway, it is very creative idea to scrap data and automatically find wanted unbanned and reactive users. However, due to it is done automatically, so you surely can do this daily or weekly  (if you have time to click on Run button of your codes)

Global Mods have a new trick:
Global mods were given the ability to ban signatures only yesterday. Do you think we can get through all the appeals in one day? Be patient.

lovesmayfamilis' ban is now a temporary ban:
I changed the ban to 60 days and a signature ban of a year.

I have no way of tracing unbans other than manually removing them. Please report them here, with a reference link.
I've removed lovesmayfamilis from the list, but his initial ban is less than week old, and still shows up in Modlog, so it'll be added again in the next update. I'll have to check this next week.

I was wondering the exact same thing "how to find out which account is banned"?

This is literally a waste of time to report banned members.

Especially if somebody is dedicated and spent hours searching for forum abusers.

One will never know how much time it costs until he will try to report only 2000 or 3000 posts in a short amount of time (month or two).

Thanks, @LoyceV for this thread is really helpful.

I can keep reporting archived profiles here if this may help keeping your list updated.
What do you mean with "archived" profiles? BPIP archives profiles for being inactive, not only when they're banned.

Then i was wrong about this !! Just thought that banned profiles are called archived. Thanks for clarifying this.

so to whom should I protest, I see you here know the procedure and can help my problems

Follow the instructions in your ban message. Also read the rules. You're breaking one of them right now.

According to bpip data, some users are already banned when recovered.
Judging by when they made their last post, they got banned recently, after their recovery. Most were recovered around the same time, so they might have been related.

Note that olcaytu2005 is banned on his request.
Modlog doesn't show this ban, so I'll add it manually.

As always, you made a great job listing all the banned users in one reference. Indeed, i didn't notice this thread before.

Am actually recording entries from the SecLog about ownership-changed and restored accounts. You can visit my thread here: All the Ownership-Changed and Restored accounts.
According to bpip data, some users are already banned when recovered.
So as they are old accounts, i don't expect them to be in your list.

Here a list of them:

bpip rus23kav  (Autobanned since 1/1/1970)  Huh
bpip FrankNoland  (Autobanned since 12/7/2018)
bpip AlexRus227  (Autobanned since 2/27/2019)
bpip wonderchaff  (Autobanned since 12/15/2018)
bpip californiaquail  (Autobanned since 1/1/1970)  Huh
bpip Irchus  (Autobanned since 9/28/2018)
bpip DreamStage  (Autobanned since 10/14/2018) Unbanned

I can keep reporting archived profiles here if this may help keeping your list updated.

Unbanned account?

Psalmy2cute
BPIP - - account active few hours ago
I don't think the account get unban, even you saw it was last actively hours ago.
Even permanent banned accounts can get active status like this when accounts' owners try to log in and check their ban situation with hope to see their accounts unbanned.

For the account you pointed out, I guess that the owner simple logged in to check ban status hours ago, nothing more.
Please pay your attention from signature of the account, that has not shown by now.

I'd have thought it's a no brainer.
What's the reasoning behind not implementing it?
theymos has previously said "No" to "A publicly displayed 'banned' rank under a person's username for permabanned accounts" in this post: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.44432901, but he did not elaborate his reasoning.

I tend to agree actually. For the same reason we don't show trust on every board, because otherwise you would be biased against posts made by users with red trust when their trust is perhaps not relevant to the topic being discussed, seeing a BANNED tag under their name would similarly prejudice everyone against those posts. Being banned doesn't automatically invalidate everything the user has posted, and there have been a couple of high profile cases in which a good users with many great and helpful posts were banned for plagiarism.

What I would be in favor of is displaying a BANNED tag to top reporters, much as it is displayed to mods. I know I have wasted plenty of time investigating suspected plagiarism, only to discover the user was already banned anyway. Perhaps once you get 5000 good reports, you get to see banned users.
