It's not even ASIC hostile. You seem to be under the impression that ASICs are somehow incompatible or inefficient with Scrypt.
It seems that you haven't read my post before commenting it. I'm talking only about ideology, not technic details. It's obvious that it's impossible to develop a real ASIC-proof algo, and this guy said more than enough about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing

Scrypt coins are asic-hostile systems due to ideological reasons. That's all that we can say.

Asic for ltc will be made if price go up and design/build asic can make some income

It's not even ASIC hostile. You seem to be under the impression that ASICs are somehow incompatible or inefficient with Scrypt. They are not. There is zero more limitations in designing an ASIC for scrypt as there is to any other hash, including SHA2, other than the financial incentive to do so.

'Currently no ASICs' would be correct if you really need to have something about ASICs in the one liner.

Sorry if it sounds pedantic, but I'm just disappointed in lies being spread about litecoin and being 'ASIC proof'.  As I mentioned its no more ASIC proof as it is GPU proof, and clearly no one would claim its GPU proof or GPU resistant. There are simply faster hashes and slower hashes. It will effect the number of hashes per second, but since mining is always based off the proprtion of hash power you have rather than the absolute number of hashes its completely irrelevant.

The term "ASIC-hostile" will be more correct. Because there are no ASIC-proof systems, only systems with ideological limitations. Smiley

Please remove asic proof from litecoin. It's not asic proof, one simply hasn't been developed yet.

please read thread, there was big discussion about what should be in the one-line ltc description.

as for now, all scrypt coins are asic-proof.

Uhh I see post #29 saying it isn't ASIC proof, then you reply it's "ASIC proof right now" if that's the "big" conversation you're talking about.

Regardless it's absolutely false, misleading, and shouldn't be in the description. Scrypt is no more or less resistant to ASIC's than any other hash out there, it's simply different. It's like saying Bitcoins are "ASIC Proof" before Avalons were shipped.

ASIC-proof implies there will never be / cannot be ASICs made for it.

I second FC... its release forum seems to have more publicity during its first day than most if not all the other altcoins have had after a few days, so it's probably safe to say it has the "fairest" distribution.

This is supposed to be a list of ALL Cryptocurrencies. So of course feathercoin should be added. The author is picking and choosing which coins to add based on how much he has of each I'm guessing. Someone should start a new thread with better information.

go on, do it.  maybe you should. didnt you think maye author isn't updating list EVERY HOUR?

That's just about the way I remember it too.

Yeah just like Bitcoin some people are mad they missed the opportunity to mine early coins but that is life. The Mincoin easy coins were mined by the public not the creators (I can attest to that myself).

There's 960K of Mincoins created right now and the other 9 million will take 10 years to produce. I have 12120 of them. If Mincoins are worth nothing it will be pretty easy to buy all of them wouldn't it? Even if we figure the creator got maybe 100K of those coins if they are worth 0.0001BTC that's only 10BTC. People need to stop crying rivers here over missing the boat, it happens to all of us. I missed out on the recent alt coins launching today am I going to call them a scam because I wasn't mining since hour 0?

Jeez.

I love this joke-coin. MILLIONS of coins premined first 3 days by founders and then BAM, 2 coins per block. I hope someone is posting drunk cause this coin is a worse joke then BTE.

I mined 10000 MinCoins 30 minutes after it's released and I'm not a founder. It was the first 3 days of *BLOCKS* not 3 days in real life. The diff was low and so many people started mining that it went really fast. It went from about 500KH mining it when I started to 14MH in 3 hours. If we assume the creator and a couple other people were mining before I joined then 500KH is nothing in comparison to the 14MH that piled on within 3 hours and mined most of the blocks.

I think some of you need to get your facts right about what a *PRE*mine is. It was announced here and on IRC same time as it began mining.

no, bytecoin had superb launch.
- earlier notice of a launch
- full description how it would work , no hidden 250x rewards
- all binaries available at start, most importantly a 70% user-base windows QT

Not strictly true about the launch imo. Notice was given in the newbs forum. First I heard about it in this subforum was after it launched.

I agree, newbs is not a right place. but still better than none, and at least relase was in the right place.

but you are right, it was  "superb" only when compared to other alts...  standarts ale simply low...

Mincoin is good.  I was able to mine it just fine.  I chose to mine it, then I chose to stop mining it.  There's no need for petty name calling of alt-coins.
