Hmmm, so google playstore team are not removing those fake apps? Finally, that's good to hear, I guess we can only keep fishing the out ourselves and report to the team, I believe they can't do this themselves since they can't even tell the difference

If this fake Mycelium wallet been reported or listed already? If not, then kindly add it @Rikafip, thanks for this thread. Archived here.
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myceliumwallet.smart
There is already one fake Mycelium wallet on the list, but the one you discovered is different so I added it to the list and reported.

Two more fake wallets have been identified being available on Google Play.

Fake Atomic wallet
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.myatomwall.starcoomter

Fake Jaxx Liberty wallet
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.linkstore.ss.jaxx

14 fake wallets have been removed by Google in the last couple of days, so at least there is some good news. Their reaction could still be faster though as in a couple of weeks (which is their average response times) chances are good that someone will download the app, enter seed phrase and loose all the money. Please report three newly added fake wallets; it will only take a minute of your time and it might save someone.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
<...>
According to their Developer Distribution Agreement:

Quote
8.3 Google does not undertake an obligation to monitor the Products or their content. If Google becomes aware and determines in its sole discretion that a Product or any portion thereof (a) violates any applicable law; (b) violates this Agreement, applicable policies, or other terms of service, as may be updated by Google from time to time; (c) violates terms of distribution agreements with device manufacturers and Authorized Providers; or (d) creates potential liability for, or may have an adverse impact on, Google or Authorized Providers (for example, if a Product has an adverse economic, reputational or security-related impact); then Google may reject, remove, suspend, limit the visibility of a Product on Google Play, or reclassify the Product from Google Play or from Devices. Google reserves the right to suspend and/or bar any Product and/or Developer from Google Play or from Devices as described in this Section. If Your Product contains elements that could cause serious harm to user devices or data, Google reserves the right to disable the Product or remove it from Devices on which it has been installed. If Your Product is rejected, removed, or suspended from Google Play or from Devices pursuant to this Section 8.3, then Google may withhold payments due to Developer.
https://play.google.com/intl/ALL_uk/about/developer-distribution-agreement.html

And their Content Policy:
Quote
We don’t allow apps that mislead users by impersonating someone else (e.g. another developer,  company, entity) or another app.  Don’t imply that your app is related to or authorized by someone that it isn’t.  Be careful not to use app icons, descriptions, titles, or in-app elements that could mislead users about your app’s relationship to someone else or another app.
https://play.google.com/intl/en-GB/about/developer-content-policy/

It seems that they rely pretty much on the above wording to shield themselves from responsibility of product impersonation such as wallet malware clones, and leave it largely to the community to detect and report these cases. Of course, this seems insufficient, and one could imagine a few more procedures that can be set into motion to mitigate these sort of events from happening so easily.

How it is even possible that they allowed to be in a store?

Since SafePal is prevalent in social media like Twitter because of its airdrop and free giveaways. Someone also created a fake SafePal wallet on Google Play Store, so watch out for Fake Applications and Scam Telegram Groups. However, its phony application is already removed on PlayStore, but we still need to be careful with this kind of scheme.

Another fake Mew wallet has been added to the list

@Rikafip, I would also like to report a fake MEW on Google Play.
The wrong spelling was the flag that this is fake.

Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speidkslz.elpatrosmpablosxw
Archive: https://archive.is/6H7lh

Two more fake Exodus wallets appeared on Google Play, so now there are at least 20 fake wallets available. Some of them are there for more than a month now, and still no signs that they will be removed anytime soon.

Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.myexod2.coom]
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.exdswallc.coom

Please spare few minutes of your time and report those fake wallets and remember to download apps only using developer's website!

You may want to add this to your list:

Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.kodular.yassine_benajem99.MyEtherWallet
and
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.kodular.yassine_benajem99.Trust_Wallet

Thank you for reporting, fake wallets have been added to the list.

One more fake wallet appeared on Google Play, this time its fake TRX wallet. Wallet has been uploaded 2 weeks ago and it already has more than 1,000 downloads. Hopefully no one entered their seed phrase, as that would mean they lost everything they had.

Fake TRX wallet
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eng.devods.tronwallet

Real TRX wallet
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=trx.org.freewallet.app

Thank you Rikafip, understood: much safer for now, but not infallible. I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry: I'll be cautious the next time I need to install a new wallet on my device.
The easy ways to install any wallets and to prevent you are installing fake wallet by visiting their website. All companies will give a link to download their official apps from their website, so you will be safe to install. When I'm not sure to install any apps, I always open the sites, just need to spent a minutes to make sure we are using real apps

The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators - ENG>SPA
As a total newbie in this topic (I use a couple mobile wallets since ages and I haven't researched the field since then), first of all, thanks for the warning, I hope you help many beginners who read this first; but as an iPhone user, are there fake wallets too in Apple's App Store?
While making this list, out of curiosity I also checked iOS App store as I wanted to see situation there, and I found only one case of a suspicious app that could be a fake wallet, but I wasn't 100% sure. I will occasionally check iOS and might update this list with those apps as well, if needed.

I think that it is not impossible but it is harder for iOS as they keep higher standards for the Apps to get accepted; but this is just a subjective opinion, I would like to hear it from someone who knows more than me on the topic (as i stated, I am still a newbie Roll Eyes).
That's true, chances of fake wallet appearing on iOS are significantly lower than on Google Play, but it can still happen of course. No system is infallible and mistakes are bound to happen, but with Google it can't be call an exception or anomaly when they have at least 13 fake wallets at the moment. Worst of all, it usually takes them couple of weeks to remove those fake apps.

Keep up with the good work Smiley let us know how we can help, maybe opening reports for those apps, or maybe you have different, better ideas instead. The more we are, the better, I hope.

Edit: it seems that we have had good luck with fast removals this time.

Most of the links I have clicked have been deleted, so you can adjust the status in the table.
If you try to access the fake wallets link via android mobile phone you will see that they are still there. For some reason few links are not working when accessing through PC.

Unfortunately, continuing to update such lists means that we fight in the dark and thus scammers are one step ahead of us, it is better to teach beginners how to download the wallet from a trusted site (verify the authenticity of the signature,) report scam wallets, and thus we have added more strengths.
That's why I mentioned in the first post that wallets should be downloaded primarily via developers website. But the fact is that majority of people are not doing that, so those that can see the list can help and report the apps and spread the awareness. The more of us report, better the chances that Google will remove them in the reasonable timeframe, or at least I like to think that. Fighting scammers will always be a whack-a-mole game, that's how it is.

The bright side is that most of these fake wallets contain less than 10 downloads.
From what I could see, all but 2 have over 100, while 2 Jaxx wallets have more than 5,000 downloads. And basically all of them have fake reviews.

Yeah, there is so many fake crypto application that we can see in Google play store, I am hoping that they will do something about this thing because there are so many newbies in the world of crypto that may become a victim from this kind of scams. Always be careful about downloading any apps even those not related to the crypto wallet because installing a fake application may lead your money at risk

Don't know why google let this kind of apps listed on them maybe they didn't do any verification before they add an apps to their store and its really dangerous for newbies if they pick the wrong app since they might lose everything they have. That's why I suggest everybody to report since maybe this one could help them erase the fake apps.

And we should not really download a apps everywhere since there's many incident of phising attack happens and its a huge mess for us if we became a victim of this kind of antics again.

Personally, I use iPhone and in AppStore there are not so many fake and shitty apps. I have never faced with a problem like that and I hope nobody loses their money because of these kind of scams.
It's true that iOS is generally safer, but I still wouldn't recommend getting something as sensitive as crypto wallet from App Store. Getting them directly from developers website is certainly a better option, just make sure that you are not entering a phishing website as that can happen too. People usually don't care much about their own safety until it's too late.

But there are more fake wallet on google playstore. You should add it on this topic. I think following topic will help you.
[Warning] List of fake wallets/apps on Google Play.
All those reported fake wallets are already removed from Google Play, that's why they weren't included as I see no point adding them retroactively and cluttering the list if apps were removed months or maybe a year ago. I only included reports of the apps that were still available while making this topic. In case i missed some report and app is still available, pleasen mention it here and it will be updated asap.

Hopefully, this will be seen to all though B&H again is a small section. Is it allowed to post the same topic and content to another board or section?
