Bitcoin is very strong at the moment. There is no doubt about that. But if there is no innovation, it will be replaced by other coins. Litecoin will not be more successful than bitcoin if it is just a mimic of bitcoin.

What is better?  Which one do you guys recommend more?
I would recommend bitcoin for various reasons

1. It is easy to get small amounts of bitcoin vie faucets, there aren't many litecoin faucets around

2. More people accept bitcoin as payment so you will have more opportunities to spend bitcoin

3. Bitcoin on a whole stands on itself while litecoin is dependent on bitcoin prices in many cases

It depends for what you are planning to use: buying stuffs, trading then you have to choose bitcoin, while (solo)mining fits better with Litecoin.

But in general Bitcoin is way better try it first then you can try other altcoins like Litecoin.

Litecoin for sure has one thing that Bitcoin does not have and that is faster confirmation times when transactions are made. If Litecoin, could have better development, then it would sure become #2 in marketcap, after Bitcoin.  Grin
its fast probably because people who's using it are lower than bitcoin, so, this coin traffic isn't too crowded like bitcoin

I would definitely choose Bitcoin over litecoin, any day. Bitcoin is much more popular and the price is now steadily rising. Bitcoin is better for profit and in daily use, i haven't even seen 1 store that accepts litecoin. It is unknown and not used very much. Definitely Bitcoin is better.

why dont own both? Litecoin is pretty much like a leverage. it has gone up 25% in the last days.

Litecoin also owns the second largest network and community. that has value too.

the only good thing that i may see, is in the case of an attack or fatal flaw with bitcoin in the future, you cna always rely on a second attempt with litecoin

but i would prefer something that offer a feature which is needed, like monero

Fast confirmation is not a big advantage. The total confirmation time matters. For a transaction to be reliable, it will take 1 hour to confirm. For 2.5 min block time, it means 24 blocks.

Bitcoin is the mother of all other coins.
So this will be for the most us the coin with prioritization.
Litecoin is for some also nice to have.
I believe when Bitcoin goes crazy, Litecoin will follow it.
Some might argue here but it's not bad to have both in portfolio if you can afford it.

Bitcoin is growing quicker than what we expected, and in the future it will remain as one of the most successful cryptos out there, aside from Litecoin. Still, Litecoin is one of the oldest alts out there and thus I think it will survive too, but I sometimes I think that it needs more development and features for it to survive.  Grin

Bitcoin is more used and exchangeable than Litecoin nowadays. The litecoin's price is increasing too but it's still not known nor used everywhere like Bitcoin, you can't easily and speedly exchange for fiat like Bitcoin, so i think working to earn and hold btc is the best choice

Nothing beats the original. Bitcoin of course!

No true. If litecoin keeps on innovating and offers new feature suitable for today's world, it will beat bitcoin. However, litecoin plays safe here, just wants to be a clone of bitcoin, it will not be as successful.

the same innovations can come early on bitcoin, it's a clone war where bitcoin is the first, i don't see litecoin winning at all, it can't offer something that bitcoin can not have

The conception that somehow everytime Bitcoin goes up Litecoin will follow is a dangerous one. I think at some point this may stop happening and the people that has been racking up a ton of cheap Litecoin waiting for that pump might be left out of the market. We still don't know if any other crypto besides Bitcoin is really needed and the alt thing was just a pointless fad.

My totally irrelevent, non expert opinion is that all of the alts are set to be failures & only bitcoin will succeed.

Those innovations need lot of funding from investors so I don't think any thing will happen in near future so I just stick to bitcoins only as of now.

I don't think it as a system needs much in the way of innovation. It does what it says on the tin. What it would really need is the people who've worked so hard to make Bitcoin used far and wide to want to slot LTC in as well. It wouldn't take much effort on their part but I can't see much enthusiasm on the horizon.
