I got 14 blocks in the first 20 seconds (I was up and running very quickly, from block 20 something) then nothing at all afterwards bevause of the bleeding KGW, should be turned off for the first couple of hundred blocks really, some of us have sat here for quite a while waiting for launch without any real benefit for doing so.

Are nodes still valid?
Yeah the nodes and conf are still valid as is the solo mining guide.
