I think it is good for some reason, like today the market price is low it is good to choose long term investment. If you hold you altcoin and wait for the market to recover it can be much profitable.
Probably in crypto-currencies it is difficult to choose a long-term investment, the market is changing very rapidly. Choose the best coins by capitalization, but always be aware of news on your deposits.

I invest only for the long term, a year or more. I think Long-term investment generally offers the potential for higher returns and is still considered a better investment option.The longer you invest, the more likely you will be able to weather low market periods.However, you must keep in mind the risks and disadvantages as well.

for long term investments, you must set your mind to never back out of the investment anywhere before the target time or else you will never have profit or even worst loose what you invest.
