it is always better to keep some in bitcoin. because if prices keep dropping you can use your bitcoin to buy cheaper altcoins. and by the way ethereum is a good and very strong coin to invest. so 50% bitcoin 50% ethereum sounds good.
if I personally will prioritize Bitcoin because the price is more expensive so I will use my money on Bitcoin by 75% and on Ethereum 255 because in my opinion 25% is already big enough if you see the price of Ethereum which is quite far from Bitcoin.

Hi,
I've got a small bit of money to invest with. I trade these days. But it'd give me peace of mind knowing I'm also holding a bit.

I'm thinking of going with Ethereum. maybe 50% ETH / 50% BTC
Are there any of the top10 altcoins that are currently a better buy than ETH?
YOu are talking about investing into alts. Do you really know what doest altcoin really mean? Alternative cryptocurrency - everything instead of Bitcoin.  Grin

I think ETH is a good coin to buy because the block reward of the miners has been reduced to 2 ETH (before was 3 ETH)
Other than ETH, lets take a look at LTC. Litecoin price has increasing since few months ago, it may still going up.
ethereum and litecoin have a market we can see pretty strong. ethereum are down but community support is very large, many people hold these coins. especially if ico continue to exist and many, perhaps ethereum will keep their price in the market.
I get your point that ethereum will continue to keep its price if ICO continues since most ICO wallets are ethereum base and many of the ICO participant will end up storing their token on the ECR 20 token wallet, but everything that has advantages also has its own disadvantage too because when there are too many ICOs in the market, it makes it difficult for investors to really know the genuine ones that will hold long on the ECR20 wallet before the coin on it gets dumped, and when there is too many pump and dump from these ICOs, it will automatically be affecting the stability of ethereum and make it unsafe for investment but payment alone.

I think all altcoins are very potential especially coins whose position is in the top 10 in the coinmarketcap. Everything depends on you whether you are ready with all the risks of each of these altcoins.
Agreed and one more suggestion on the same, if the planned investment is large scale then it is good to go with high priced altcoins similar to ethereum, bitcoin cash, Litecoin and so on. By the time if the invest amount is low it is good to go with low priced coins like ada, steller, eos and so on for profiting in long run.

In my own opinion going for more of BTC is a good call, then you can still hold some ETH. Also, since you want to invest in other altcoins, I think XLM is a good call, as the project keeps showing good signs of serious and efficient team.
You know the problem with some people is that they want to become millionaires overnight. This is just not possible. Couple of weeks ago when Bitcoin was down and it was a great opportunity to invest in Bitcoin, they did not. Now a rise in the price of Bitcoin to 4k dollar is interesting them to invest.

Hence, I think this should be made clear to the overnight name makers that the very rational way to do things is to invest when others are fearful.

Before investing in altcoins, i recommend to you investing in already established altcoins in at least top 100, before investing you must watch how much volume that altcoin have, and from which exchanges that volume comes. We have news that most of volume is not real, so be careful. Most of altcoins are high risk and high reward things, so allways have some risk management implementend into your investment.

I think you don't have any bad intentions here, but I want to give you a warning. Regardless of whoever advises, please note that he is not advising you because he thinks of you. Yes, there is also the freedom to state ideas, but there are hundreds of people who make a title for advice. If you prefer to do research instead of creating a title, you can be sure that it will be more useful to you because it is quite important to have detailed information about the area and investment tool you want to invest. On the other hand, the investment to be made on the recommendations carries the same risk as controlling the gas leak with the lighter. For example, a user can only recommend 3 shitcoin recommendations for the purpose of recommending you to comment and cause damage. That is why research is always your first target. After you do research, you can reach your own decision and experience. As a result of my advice, I recommend that you invest in quality projects that are the most known and most used in the market.

seen in the current market price developments also starting to become good, I think you can invest in altcoins for you to use in trading, so you will also make money in a short time.

I think ethereum is still unbeatable by other coin / altcoins and currently the development of ethereum is also good, which I see, with a certain amount of certainty I am sure ethereum will continue to improve the quality of the company so that people will use it again so that events in 2017 will not happen.

ETH and BTC are the most important cryptocurrencies that to be stored in every wallet. Then, you can diversify your money among others. In my opinion best to diversify your money according to risks.

Now investing in ETH or BTC, the risks they bring are even smaller. Investing in altcoin, the price fluctuations are very large.

You had a good choice in choosing eth and bitcoin as an investment. But if you'd still want to invest other altcoins than eth, xrp and bnb are a good catch. Just buy them in a dip price and also you should basically search it by your own if they are worth to invest or not.

If you do not know where to invest, then it is better to invest in the most reliable and proven coins, which at the moment are Bitcoin and Ethereum. If you do not want to risk, then do as you intended.

There is still good altcoins out there that you can invest in but it needs serious monitoring  so you have to know when to sell and hold or even flip. But you should be thinking of holding the king(Btc) and Queen (Eth)

I suggest it's better not to buy another altcoin. just invest in ethereum and bitcoin, this is more profitable and safer. Remember now the market still hasn't shown an uptrend so it's better to secure your money, before trying to find a profit.

Hey this is the best advice I feel, you should not invest in cheap alts I would advise you to put majority money in bitcoins, and small amounts you can buy Ethereum and Xrp. If you’re not aware let me guide you alts have a tendency to crash down very quickly, and once they crash they take very long to recover. However bitcoins even if they crash they have a tendency to rise back faster, and give handsome returns in the future.

These coins are very unsteady and should be duly monitored. Therefore if you must invest in these coins I suggest you learn how to read charts to enable you trade profitably at short intervals

I am trying to invest money into crypto currencies right now, because the prices are awesome at the moment. In my opinion the best choice is to invest in top 20 cryptos and split your deposit among these coins in equal parts.
