Wrong choice of buying. You buy an altcoin that's already pumped. Then the price drops suddenly. That's a bad move. Jumping on peak is very dangerous because we don't know how far the rally will go. Is it still gonna pump more or not? Also you panic too quickly. Sometimes the candle will fall hard and then pump really high. You must have patience.
This is why it is very important to choose the moment to start trading, it is better to enter when the market is not moving much that, than to enter the market when it is pumping or dumping hard, because this is precisely what it may happen, suddenly you see the price is getting a lot lower and then you panic and sell for a loss, it would have been better to just wait until the storm passed and then to start trading.
Please keep track of all your trades. This is a very hard and annoying task, but it can be done. I keep track of every trade, including transfer fees, trading fees, banking fees, whatever it is. You will learn to follow everything and be able to make it profitable.
Like quoted above, watch when the market is flat or in a loss area. All coins move and it's never a good idea to buy when they are rising unless it's booming and then it's hard to tell when it'll stop. I always buy top 50 coins when they are in the negative, wait a few days and see if they rise. Sometimes it works, sometimes I sit on the coin for a few more days.
