It is true that the cost of one meeting with a professional psychiatrist is quite expensive, so someone who is addicted to gambling and does not have the money to meet with a professional must look for a non-profit organization that usually provides psychiatric services to treat their addiction. Or if they don't find that, they can ask for help from those closest to them, such as their parents or wife, to help them control their urge to gamble.
In some areas, there are no qualified psychiatrists who are specialists in gambling addiction. You need to even travel to another city to locate the few that exist in some countries. In some of these locations, people suffering from gambling addiction are just helpless. However, a good alternative could be to locate an online counselor or specialist. Several gambling addiction therapists can offer even free services to individuals. But as others have highlighted,  the process of being free from gambling addiction starts from the willingness of the individual to adjust his gambling habit. Except there is a desire to change, counseling might not do much.

One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.
This is a very difficult question to answer even though some of the examples you mentioned make no sense such as how an unemployed person can become addicted to gambling while he has no income which means he will not have money to gamble.
In fact, when a gambler realizes that he is addicted, he may not need help from a therapist to recover from the addiction because people who don't realize that they are addicted make it very impossible to go to a professional to get therapy, or he can look for free services because I am quite sure there are free services like that from social foundations that care and therapists are not just for gambling addiction but other addictions that can also be dangerous for the lives of people who experience them.

They could look for a professional psychiatrist provided by the government so that the costs are not too high. It can reduce expenses in seeking advice from professional psychiatrists because the government has allocated funds to hospitals or rehabilitation centers around us so that they can help people who need it. But if psychiatric services are not available at all, they can ask people with experience in treating addiction cases or start creating a program for gambling addicts using data they can search on the internet.

Therapy for a gambling addict is very expensive. No one can get rid of gambling addiction through solution therapy and this therapy requires a lot of money. Moreover, I have some free solutions from my personal side that I can apply to gambling addicts. For example, a person who has become addicted to gambling should stay away from mobile phones at all times. Most of the time he has to engage in some work. Also, if a person with gambling addiction is good at sports, he should be careful about sports and spend more time with friends or family members. Whatever religion he is, he should follow the path of religion. If these things are followed by a gambling addict, I think he can get out of gambling addiction very easily.

I agree that psychotherapy can be very expensive (and not very effective).
The most cost effective solution to battle gambling addictions is to QUIT gambling completely. I know it sounds impossible for an addict, but there's no solution, that has a lower cost than this one. Every gambling addict must realize the repercussions of his behavior and the fact that things will only get worse for him, if he keeps wasting money on gambling. Talking with friends and family and addressing the problem seems way better than paying for therapy. I know that this seems embarrassing, but facing the shame of your existential failure is inevitable and it is the first step towards your recovery.

Yes, the therapy will only be a waste if you do not help yourself. Decide on the spot where you want to stop gambling, make up your mind for your goal, and focus on it. There should be no more alteration to happen until you make it happen.

Therapy helps but will not work in 100% of cases. I know of some people who quit cold turkey without therapy but the way was not cheap either. After a gambling binge that ruined his finances leaving him in debt there came a time when he hit rock bottom and as far as I know he has never gambled again. Normally to make it on your own you have to have hit rock bottom. And to get out of them if you have had serious problems you have to be clear that you can never bet again, not even a single bet.
That's why helping yourself and taking it seriously is a must so the therapy will not be put to waste. Make it clear to yourself, think of it multiple times, what you really want, and what your responsibilities are. There's no easy way to escape from the gambling addiction, it's hard indeed at the beginning but it is worth it if taken seriously until you finish the therapy.

Chances to make it happen if you stop betting again. All the hard work will not produce the expected outcome and the money spent on the therapy will be wasted as there's no refund on it. You will only lose money without any improvement.

There are so many economist ways to help you in leaving from your addiction. Try to stay away from anything that can connect you to gambling and fill your free time used for gambling with other activities. This will help you so much to stay away from it.
Consistency is key to beating addiction, even though therapy isn't mandatory due to its cost.. You did theraphy but you are still gambling that will make your theraphy useless.

As long as the personal can be diciplina and the addiction can be removed.
Aside from that, talking to someone and having a deep conversation regarding your situation will be a big help. It's better if it is someone who can really listen and give you advice and not just say, stop gambling easy as that. And of course, try to also help yourself by keeping yourself busy all the time. This way, the chances of thinking about gambling will lessen.

Self-discipline is all I could think of. It's just our brain that makes us addicts and it's not really our body. Just imagine the alcoholics, beer, brandy, vodka or any hardcore alcohols doesn't really taste good, they are mostly bitter and yet they want to drink it all day. It's our brain telling us that we need that drink because we are stressed out or it became our habit to drink.
I think self-rehabilitation will work but again discipline is what it takes to make it work. Therapists will give us positive point of views but at the end of the day it's all up to you if you will follow what he suggested or keep on gambling after a therapy, so we are just wasting money in the process.

Thinking about the situation like this alone can make a gambler become his own therapist because looking at the money which they need to pay to someone who will educate and guide them how to stop spending the same or larger amount that they are paying for such information it’s already a lesson learned the hard way for an addict.

Beside all this therapist they have been known for their good works and most of the time a higher percentage of their clients are always happy with the result they get at the end of the day but not all actually gets their desire result, which this can also make me wonder as it might also wonder those addicts that what if this don’t work for me and I really don’t need a therapist in other to reduce my gambling limit.

The therapy is not the complete solution for the gambling addict.
Therapy is one of the solution and the effectiveness lyes on the self acceptance of being addicted. Not many have the mind to accept they're addicted. For such people it is really hard to get out of addiction. Proper awareness from the government or the gambling platforms itself needs to be the right way to make people spend with limitations and stay away from addiction. When a gambling platform broadcast its add on Television, at the end it states about the financial risk in one or two seconds. Maybe same as the advertisement, if awareness is provided people will think twice before spending and the same could keep them on the safer side than getting addicted badly and looking for therapist.

The therapy is not the complete solution for the gambling addict, because not all the gamblers will ready to take the therapy. They will consider the therapy as the insult to portrait their mental health. So the gambler mostly not accept this way of therapy for the gambling addiction. The gambler should not use the large amount to the gambling at any point. So the gambler will have good money to play the game in the future.

So they won’t get addicted to the gambling sites because of the free money. The gambling should be considered as the entertainment then the earn platform.

What about  gamblers with gambling budget of $100 looking for jackpot they can use to turn around their life. I'm not sure how effective th therapist are to their patients but I will pas. Not like they are going to give money to remove gambling from the eye of the gambler. The majority of them play to make money, how how is therapist going to change mindset of a man that needs money badly.

Maybe gambler that is totally lost it will do, those kind of players need help because having someone completely lost is like trying to revive a mad person to sane person. It is hard job thing to do and I can recommend them for that if they really work and not for some ordinary gambler that is looking two double his last card just to secure food and what he want on the table.

Before reaching this stage, gamblers who feel they are classified as addicted gamblers, there is still an opportunity to slowly overcome their addiction by reducing the habit of spending $500 to avoid spending $500.

The solution should lie in government support programs.
In countries where gambling is regulated, gambling is responsible for giving governments a lot of money that is collected through taxes... where is this money spent?

In my opinion, the income obtained from casino taxes should be used mainly for investment in education, financial education... teaching children about the correct use of money. Secondly, to treat people who are addicted, as certainly someone who is not treated will become ill or will start stealing to satisfy their addictions and both could cost countries much more money than treatment for gaming addiction. unlucky.

A sip of coffee could do that and that's what you need to think of when you're trying to get that hands off gambling. Instead of funding your gambling account, you think that you're urging for a coffee.

That's totally low cost and effective but another chance of you that you may become a coffee lover and addicted to it.

But what's better? Get into coffee and try one because before I don't think that I'll love coffees but once you try it, you'll never go back.

Of course, because sometimes there are gamblers who want to recover but they are not fully open about what bad things they have done in gambling to people who want to help them recover, some experts who might help treat them will first see how big their addiction level is, and of course it is seen from how they do it and also by whether the way they do it is still reasonable or it is out of control. Well I understand as you said that they will at least feel embarrassed if they have to be honest about everything, but there is no other way, and I think if they really want to recover from their addiction then surely the embarrassment will not be too big a problem for them.

If indeed the student can be completely honest with his parents then surely the parents will act quickly and seek help according to what is needed, one of which might be to see a doctor or psychological specialist to cure his mindset. Rice has become porridge, there is no reason to be afraid of being angry, none other than for his own recovery.
To overcome this shame, they can tell it to people who are very close to them so that they can feel free to express what they feel to that person. That way, they will know what to do immediately so that, if necessary, they can visit several experts to ask for help to cure their gambling addiction. What is important is that there is openness from the gambling addict to admit the problem so that other people do not guess at the problem. Also people can help find temporary solutions that gambling addicts can do so that they can at least reduce their gambling activities while looking for other solutions.

Gambling addiction therapy is a good solution and is a step that we can take to overcome the addiction to gambling, but not everyone can do this because again we are talking about very expensive prices. However, if someone really intends to give up their addiction to gambling, then cost is not the main problem. Because in reality they always have money to be able to gamble, who knows where the money comes from and who knows how someone can get the money, but a gambling addict will try and in any way he can find money so he can gamble.
So, in order to let go of the addiction to gambling, what we have to do is to straighten out our intentions first so that the process and results can produce perfect results according to what we want, namely letting go of the addiction to gambling.

"Support groups" are the alternative to therapy where you can meet the person and get experience from them who get rid of addictions.
Yes support groups work perfectly well. To add if you are a member of a religious organisation I know that some of these organisations usually organised free support groups for members who are struggling with several addictions. They would help you with both physical support spiritual support and even all the support that you will need. This is also very helpful as I have found.
Religious organizations really care about their members and they will help solve any problem including gambling addiction problems, although they are not consultants who specifically treat gambling patients but they will explain the prohibition of gambling from a religious perspective because every religion does not allow gambling.

If you want to get out of gambling addiction and want to improve your religious side, then you don't need expensive therapy to get rid of gambling addiction and you just need to be an active member of a religious organization rather than taking expensive therapy from consultants and they may not necessarily be able to recover you from gambling addiction Serious. Making sure you frequently attend religious organization events and consulting with religious figures will help get rid of gambling addiction.
