One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.

Dont know if its actually cheap but this one involves with those numbers.
Dont know if this one is accurate because services cost and PF's would be entirely be depending on a certain country.

Individual Cost of Gambling Rehab
Sessions: $165

Family Cost of Gambling Rehab
Sessions: $345

Even More Affordable Option | Group Therapy
Sessions: $50

With those numbers above then i dont see that it would really be that cheap or low cost. This is why some gambling addicts would really be just that
simply be keeping that addiction for themselves and wont really be tending to tell someone. Self will should be enough and then if it doesnt work then family help would be
next in line but if not then therapy would be your option.

Being open to your family, friends or someone close to you is the cheapest way to resolve gambling addiction. You are only gambling because you don’t have other things to do on your free time that why you get the entertainment you are missing on social to gambling.

Even though talking about your gambling addiction to your family may be the cheapest way to discuss and overcome the gambling addiction but it is the most difficult thing to do at the same time. You may tell any doctor, or any unknown person that you are having problems due to gambling addictions, but it will be so difficult to tell to your family, especially in cases when the parents and family members dislike gambling and they have already prohibited you from gambling.

You need to have a lot of courage to speak and tell about this habit of yours to your families. We never know what could be their reactions when they come to know about this fact.  Huh

From some content I have been going through the other therapy for gamblers with no income that are being addicted is first distant yourselves from gambling, setting a limitation to yourself helps to reduce gambling addiction especially when it comes of those who doesn't have money to gamble all time setting a limitation to your funds helps to reduce gambling addiction whenever you exhausted the allocation funds for the day weeks or month as the case may be then you are free for the main time and it would help you to think of something much better than gambling maybe, as worker create out channels to always distributes your income whenever you are being paid at work you send and distribute your funds by then you won't have enough funds to gamble and it will reduce your gambling addictions.

probably it's true this an effective (low cost) solution. but I think that anyone MUST avoid to reach a situation like this.
there is enough time to avoid this point of a gambler career. I would recommend (always) to have a "limit" on betting (play an amount of money that you can literally trash). and for people that use crypto for their gambling activity... we have a great advance with cold wallet, multi signature and so on...

Having someone to look for you and remind you is better alternative on therapy since the therapist usually just want you to share and talk to your problem as way of solution. Most of gambling addicted friends stop gambling after being socialized frequently in a form of bonding especially with beer. Also being busy on job and having a good salary is other alternative to solve your gambling addiction cheaply and profitable at the same time.

i have never tried it, but from several people's recommendations, there are 2 organizations that provide support for the recovery of gambling addicts but at a low cost, especially for gambling addicts, i suggest you try joining this community.

there are many ways to overcome addiction at a lower cost and more effectively and it all depends on the level of addiction.

as I would say, like when someone is addicted to online gambling and when they want to recover from their addiction, they do the initial stages of closing access to the internet, which means not accessing the internet through anything and staying away from news or anything related to gambling and then venting into other activities that are more useful to divert. mind not to think about gambling and if you have the courage to hide yourself not to leave the house, that is also an effective way.

but remember everyone has stages in how addiction occurs. I mean offline or online addiction occurs and it depends on which country he lives in because some countries do not allow gambling businesses so healing yourself from addiction is a little easier if you are in a country that prohibits gambling.

"Support groups" are the alternative to therapy where you can meet the person and get experience from them who get rid of addictions.

Also, every government has free toll-free support line to deal such cases so you can seek help from them as well if you can't afford to pay for expensive therapies but the first stage of overcoming the addiction is trying to find the solution so whoever is working on it probably will overcome their addiction with no help from experts unless they are severely addicted to gambling.

And in my opinion, who can finance their long gambling actions surely can afford the treatment as well.

How did this unemployed person got addicted to gambling in the first place?

Cross Addiction can be one therapy. This thread came up yesterday which seems a good alternative to battle addiction which is to divert the addiction to another addictive game. Somehow it could be a solution for a while in order for the addict to divert its attention to somewhere else. He could be battling this addiction soon but at least this will be another topic. PS4 is not so bad though. Somehow addicted to PS4 games is acceptable.
