One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" .
Unfortunately with therapy, usually it's not the person that needs it that requests for it which makes it a waste of time and money!!!

Fyi we have several success stories of people fighting gambling addiction without having to see a therapist, which tells me it starts with the user identifying it and then doing something about it... someone else doing it for you never yeilds positive results...besides the cause of the addiction needs to be identified if this is to be corrected... otherwise people still go back to these bad habits with time .

What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.
Get free help from people who have fought it and am certain they will be always be more than willing to help, also resources on most of our social media platforms is very much available  to teach a user how to go about addiction and just takes on to do the research...

As of timeframe to get it under control, it all depends on how willing the gambler is ready to put into the fight .

Addicted to gambling and want to stop. In essence, you have to have a sincere mindset and let go of what has happened to yourself first, before doing therapy. If I may add, try to traumatize yourself because of gambling, create a little guilt about what we did before so that the trauma can stick with us. When the feeling of wanting to gamble comes, this method will certainly work, even though it's not easy.

But most people who are addicted to gambling will stop completely if at one point they no longer have any assets and lose their loved ones.

Maybe the cheapest way to get rid of a gambling addiction is to leave your current residence and look for a new environment. In essence, you have to look for a new circle free from gambling so that we are no longer influenced by the surrounding environment. God willing, this will work.

Encourage those of you who want to get rid of gambling addiction, have good intentions, one day you will definitely recover.
The first step to easily tackle gambling addiction is for the addicted person to accept that he's addicted and really needs to stop his gambling additions and that also will make it very much easy for him to find lasting solution to his gambling additions. Most of the gambling addicts I know whom their close friends and family has tried to redeem from gambling addiction but failed are always traced the problem of not accepting that they're addicts and needs help to get out of their addiction.
Now after accepting that they're addicts, it's easy to talk them out of it by telling them of the dangers of gambling addiction and what they stand to lose if they continue to be addicts

Making ourselves feel the trauma of losing when gambling, I don't think the point is that it will necessarily make us get rid of our gambling habits, I think this will result in other bad things if we are deterred from gambling. Those who have lost all their money may not necessarily be able to get rid of their gambling habits if they themselves do not have the desire to leave the gambling they are playing.

I agree with the cheap method you mentioned, if we have tried a lot and have not succeeded in abandoning the gambling activities we are doing, it is better for us to look for a new environment and look for activities that make us unable to gamble.

The chance of trying it again once you have some money to use is still possible for that gambler who loses a lot of gambling.

No doubt that since they already experienced defeats, the first thing in mind is how to recover
and by trying some luck when money is available can be an option for them.

It's for sure that taking that extra mile to help yourself by acquiring professional to help might have
good positive effect if you are really willing to quit away from gambling.

Some people are so stubborn that they don't listen to advice and warning, it's better to leave them and let them make the mistakes, they will end up learning and quitting gambling in future, I know two separate brothers that mostly invest in gambling, I don't know how they come up with investing in gambling, how does investment related to gambling? Lack of understanding I guess, these brothers spent years on gambling thinking they will make life changing money, everyone around them warned them and they don't listen, but they learn, now they are struggling, looking for paying jobs to maintain themselves.

You can't be a reckless fellow and escape some stupid mistakes, life doesn't work this way, you need to proceed with caution in everything you plan to do, always prepare for the good and the bad side, if you believe in the wrong things you will get wrong results, gambling isn't something anyone should believe in, you place bet with the hope of getting lucky and the chances are very slim, so the only way not to get affected is to throw small amount of money at this.

If you win it's good, and do not forget to withdraw that amount out, you are gambling to win the house, it's not going to come easily as you except, therapy sucks at this point because not everyone comes from a country with good therapist, I haven't seen one since I was born, so it depends on the country you are living in, and moreover, how will an addict spend money to see a therapist?

Discipline is the best thing and I think it would be good to consider the harmful aspects of gambling to prevent addiction. If a person constantly loses more money but at the same time does not limit himself but continues and even increases the bet but there is no analysis and calculation behind it this is already a manifestation of gambling addiction. And what separates a player from an analyst is that he is not interested in winning he will always maintain discipline no matter how much he motivates himself. Some gamblers who do not have a problem at the moment but are suspected of becoming addicted in the future can take steps to control themselves. It is best to seek professional help and set limits on gambling apart from this determining the amount of money spent on gambling can also be a good step in this regard.

In our country, we have free consultation for those people but usually the schedule is tight so it is really difficult to seek for professional help. Let’s just to have a disciplined practice righyr at the beginning of trying gambling so we can prevent reaching this point.

What country is this because this program is very brilliant since a fee for professional cost a lot in our country and it’s very hard to find one since very few specialize on it here. Probably you are from country which gambling is rampant that’s why your government launch this kind of program.

Afaik, there’s services like this via online consultations. Session will be via zoom and other form of videochat. I’m not sure if this method is really helpful but sometimes talking to someone about your problem will help a lot. I don’t know what addicted person feels but I believe it can be solved by self discipline just like what you said.

It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. If the gambler can afford losing big money in gambling? then perhaps the person can afford this so called therapy? Yes, it's like going to the doctor for consultation, it's going to be expensive, but you have to think what it can bring to you. You will stop gambling for good and so it can safe you financially and mental stress as you will be free from it.
Moreover, for gambling addict who has lot of money they will choose to use that money to gamble rather than having to use it to pay for therapy and I am sure of this.
Some people say that person can recover by doing healing therapy but that is not guaranteed because the main thing is the gambler own intentions and efforts to recover and in addition to efforts to avoid all forms of gambling, whether advertising or broadcasting gambling sessions.

So for me, it's worth the money. But it is still up to the gamblers whether the individual wanted to go to this kind of medical and professional help. Or he himself that it as a personal challenge to quit, and it can be done.
There are only few gambling addicts who can truly recover and from all this it can be interpreted that the majority of gambling addicts have difficulty in recovering and will continue to do these activities until they are old and even until the end of their lives.
But there no harm in trying because I myself also experienced the same thing, wanting to recover and trying hard to do so but failed even though now I can be more limited and controlled in every gambling activity I do.

Self-discipline is all I could think of. It's just our brain that makes us addicts and it's not really our body. Just imagine the alcoholics, beer, brandy, vodka or any hardcore alcohols doesn't really taste good, they are mostly bitter and yet they want to drink it all day. It's our brain telling us that we need that drink because we are stressed out or it became our habit to drink.
I think self-rehabilitation will work but again discipline is what it takes to make it work. Therapists will give us positive point of views but at the end of the day it's all up to you if you will follow what he suggested or keep on gambling after a therapy, so we are just wasting money in the process.

That’s right discipline is always good but I think self diagnosing yourself especially if youre under addiction or deppression would be dangerous. We should be also be careful when giving advises to those people. Maybe what people do under addiction is take things little by little until they get theirselves back. In our country, we have free consultation for those people but usually the schedule is tight so it is really difficult to seek for professional help. Let’s just to have a disciplined practice righyr at the beginning of trying gambling so we can prevent reaching this point.

Help would come when the person is ready to work on  themselves and become a better gambler. Gambling can be very interesting when we are making good profits it but we might not understand what it means for someone to be very addictive to gambling when they are sure that they don't have a problem since they keep making good profits from the market. Gambling can be too risky when we are not so sure on the future threat it could lose on us if we don't know how to control ourselves from getting addiction. We need to work on ourselves as a gambler to prevent anything that would cost us loses and future addiction.
But we know that we cannot always make big profits from gambling, so we must be able to prevent gambling for longer rather than endure more losses. Only by controlling ourselves can we prevent experiencing gambling addiction so that we can still enjoy gambling as entertainment. We also won't chase a bigger win because we know it's better for us to get an existing win and stop gambling than to chase a win because that could cause us to lose. Playing gambling responsibly will protect us from losing a lot and also getting addicted to gambling so it is still worth doing.

Specially that addicted gamblers are really that in verge of denial as always on which they would really be telling other people that they arent addicted but truly they are really that on severe case already.
People would really be just making out those realization or acceptance of mistakes on the time that they wont really be able to pull some funds into their pockets then this is where self realization do kicks in.Regrets do always come at the end on which it would really be just that normal that people would really be that wont be stopping with their gambling activity on the time that they do still have money that they could spend on gambling. They wont really be that stopping until they would really be finding themselves getting wrecked.

The cheapest way to stop gambling is to stop on point whether you had tending to involved in other activities or not it would really vary on someones control and discipline into their
minds on which we know that it cant really be that so easy on doing so just because you are really that fighting against your addiction which its always been that a challenge
or not all would really be able to do so.
Gamblers who are addicted to gambling will not want to understand that they have a gambling addiction and will continue to deny it. They don't want to be called gambling addicts even though it has happened to them and they should be able to realize it by seeing what has happened to them so that people can immediately help them to cure their gambling addiction. It is true that regret always comes at the end but it is not too late to stop gambling, especially if they realize that they must be able to fight their gambling addiction to cure themselves.

Doing other activities can help gambling addicts reduce their gambling habits and stop them. But this must really be done with full awareness that he must stop gambling as soon as possible. If he realizes that changes have occurred to him due to frequent gambling and resulting in him experiencing a lot of losses, he will try to reduce his gambling activities.

If it is said to be difficult, it is indeed very difficult to be able to control or leave gambling, where apart from we have to have strong determination, we also have to be able to leave the environment that only brings us back to gambling.
Yes, stay away from the environment and block all advertisements that are too prominent about gambling because it will be useless if you are still in a gambling environment, let alone still accessing the internet, then seeing gambling advertisements everywhere, such as social media, and of course this will make the desire to gamble come back again, so it's best to leave work and activities. being connected to the internet as well as staying away from the gambling environment will be very helpful too.

The best way is to limit gambling and reduce gambling hours slowly. This will help to reduce the desire to gamble. If you do it slowly and consistently, it will definitely work in the end because I have tried it and it really succeeded in helping me reduce the desire to gamble, so from I only gamble on weekends and don't gamble too often so I'm not too addicted to gambling. gambling whenever I want

First thing first is that, an unemployed person should not engage him or herself in gambling, since one rule in gambling states that people should only gamble with as much funds as they can afford to lose, every penny is important to an unemployed person, so i see no reason why such persons should engage themselves in gambling to the extent of even getting addicted.

And secondly, talking about the low cost and effective solutions to gambling addiction, I would say that one way is for the addicted gambler to find some else doing that will keep him or her so busy that they will hardly remember to gamble, and by the time such a person finally have time to rest which could trigger the urge to gamble, the person would have become very tired that he or she will just doze and sleep off due to lack of physical and mental strength to gamble.

The above, i personally believe can be a free and very effective way any gambling addict can cure him or herself without having to spend so much on therapy or whatever.

Yeah, something like this makes sense.

If a person is busy doing something productive most of the day then it means they won't be able to spend their money and time gambling.

It is clearly a problem when people suddenly have too much time in their hands and get bored, because they might end up being attracted to gambling, where they can lose all their money.

So you are saying to move out of the place and since a person has no job, he just needs to leech his relatives while trying to avoid gambling addiction?  I think it is best to ask the local government for help.  Seek guidance if there is free treatment or rehabilitation for gambling addicts.  I think the government allocates funds for these kinds of victims and they have an establishement for rehabilitation for gambling addicts that offers free services to a minimum charges.
There are groups like that everywhere so there is not really any excuse for a person that is looking to leave their addictions behind to not get the help they need.

However the most difficult part is to convince those people they need help as one of the most common human reactions is to refuse to acknowledge any negative consequences because of their actions, and while understandable, this is a reaction that will do nothing but to delay receiving the help they desperately need.
Convincing someone to realize that they really need help is difficult because they have an ego that will not easily admit it. They may deny that they have a serious problem that must be resolved immediately. They also don't want to admit that it has made their lives experience difficulties that could be even greater. It is indeed difficult and requires hard work from people who try to convince them because after all, they will slowly see the reality so they are willing to accept it.

You are right about that, that the way to get rid of the addiction to gambling is to stop the activity and switch to doing more useful activities like what you mentioned. But sometimes this doesn't last long and especially if you don't have a strong desire to consistently do positive things. where maybe for the first week things will go according to what was planned, but in the future they will get more lazy and in the end they will end up sitting at the gambling table again.

And to overcome this, once again I agree with you that there must be someone who can accompany us and continue to support us so that when our enthusiasm is low, there is someone who will ignite that enthusiasm again so that we can continue to be consistent with what we previously planned.

I would highlight "if someone doesn't have a strong desire"... if there's no real desire for something, then that something is impossible! And if someone really wants something, he will find a way to make it happen... I just listed a few possibilities, but someone can dedicate himself to many other life/love/or any other activity that is not "gambling"! And while some activities are expensive, there are some "cheap ones", and those cheap ones can be really effective with the right approach.

to be able to generate this strong desire is what is very difficult for us to achieve and to be able to build. And it seems that you also quite understand the temptation to gamble which knows no place and no time and this temptation can come both within us personally and from outside, from our friends. And sometimes the temptation arises when we are resting or when we are alone at night, where sometimes the desire to gamble suddenly arises or when we are playing on social media and we see live streaming gambling, sometimes this makes the desire to gamble come back again.

If it is said to be difficult, it is indeed very difficult to be able to control or leave gambling, where apart from we have to have strong determination, we also have to be able to leave the environment that only brings us back to gambling.

I think that when a person is addicted and wants to get out of that process, the solution can be very good if the person first recognizes that they have a problem, second, if the person wants to leave the casino, the game, they will not do it, the best thing is keep going to the casino, but with certain conditions, the conditions can be hard or somewhat flexible when you are starting to do a treatment at no cost, but things can start in a flexible way, one of the ways that I think you can do apra r getting better, is that if the addicted player plays for 5 hours, the first session will be very hard, because he has to reduce those 5 hours by half, and the other half what I advise is to do a sport, or something that tires him out in the body. So that when you get home you are very tired and want to sleep, that is the first step for me, there can be many sports, but something that makes you leave very tired, swimming would be ideal, because swimming is one of the sports most complete that exist, another could be going out for a run, jogging, walking, whatever, or going out for a bike ride, because they are sports that demand a lot and where only the person is the protagonist.

If you do it that way it will no longer be 2.5 hours, the next week it will be 1 hour and a half and so on until you can reach half an hour without problems, without betting too much, without losing your head, because the people who say that the game from the casino it is taken away at once, this is something that should not be done, in fact it is very difficult, because you could have a relapse, it must be a very slow process so that you can be successful, because in such a glass you always I mention sport, because a tired body makes the mind want nothing more than to rest to recover, so that is why I always talk about sport, and the mind starts thinking about something else and not just the game, the idea. is that the person can get out of that vicious circle and can be more successful.
