What's the application for Litecoin? Even its founder sold all his stash when it was at the all time high.
Ethereum has a use though. Smart contracts, ICO's and tons of applications use Ethereum.
I just don't see a use for early 2nd generation coins like Litecoin or Dogecoin. They were interesting experiment back then, but now they don't really make any sense. Just my 2 cents about that.

For now I prefer to LTC because it's approaching Halving LTC in August, seen from the movement of LTC which is more aggressive than ETH. But it's better if you can have both ETH and LTC.
LTC or ETH, im hoding both but i do believe ETH's price is going to increase pretty hard in the coming months as ETH2 PoS is coming.
It's a difficult choice ,both coins are very very good ,Litecoin is older but Etherium has got a smart-contracts function.I would stay more with Etherium ,but every cryptoinvestor must also have some litecoins in portfolio.
in development ethereum has a greater opportunity, and it is possible for the growth of ethereum prices to be greater than LTC. but having both of these assets doesn't hurt, they are both good. 
Both were good investment assets for long term until there is perfect bull run with bitcoin. Around a month back there is a large scale price pumping with Litecoin compared to ethereum. Further ethereum grew along with bitcoin and now there isn't much of growth with both. Both has got some special occasions to provide a big change in price. With ethereum there is a massive update and with Litecoin halving is scheduled for this year.

I have more faith in the Ethereum, Thus i prefer to buy and hold more of it, than any other Alts. As many people says that Ethereum as the number 2 while Bitcoin is at the top.
From.the choices that OP has provided then I do more like on ETH compared to LTC. Though LTC has a good reputation also in the market and as a coin but ETH in my opinion is a good coin to hold. ETH has unpredictable market to which it is highly volatile. ETH also is next to bitcoin in terms of its market cap volume meaning that tye common users prefer to hold ETH than other crypto. But, it is still bitcoin as a best coin to.hold.
Even if eth is being avoided by some because it easily dumps, this same attribute also makes it to pump or grow easily. Therefore, i still prefer it over ltc, because thus on its own is slow in grow, but it is a steadily growing coin, which also can be affected by the general market condition.
Although Litecoin is older than Ethereum, and the experienced traders know it for many years, I guess, ETH will be the better choice. This is the platform which is one of the best on the crypto market.
Older coins don't mean that they are better coins. For good coins, if they are older, it is probably that they have better reputation (just right for good coins) because they survived through many period, and crashes of market, but they actually survived and still be good coins. It means they have ability to develop their projects, to keep good supports for their customers / investors, and to fight against kinds of attacks on their networks as well as to stay strongly despite of general changes of crypto world over years. Litecoin is a good altcoin, but like you I would prefer to choose Ethereum. I have two coins in my portfolio, just in case I have to choose, I will choose Ethereum.
In my opinion, I trust and believe in ethereum more than litecoin since its a stable coin and has a large support from people unlike litecoin.
Little question i have in mind, would it be possible for litecoin to go Proof-of-Stake one day?
Definitely I personally trust more to the Ethereum coin, since it is more stable. In lightcoin, if I had invested, then only the money that I am ready to lose.
ETH it seems to me that this project is already used by default today, so its use today can and must bring great successful profits. Therefore, it seems to me that this would really be the right decision.
I like both coins very much. But they are not the same as for me, ethereum is much stronger than Litecoin. But Litecoin at its age and power is very popular.
Technically ethereum is much more backed by technology than litecoin. Litecoin became a pump and dump coin without any tech emprovements.

I now prefer Litecoin. Indeed, I previously preferred investing in Ethereum, but I want to save more litecoin for the next few years. Because Litecoin or Ethereum both have great potential going forward, it will increase. So there is nothing wrong if you want to invest in ethereum or litecoin.

I prefer ETH (Ethereum) investment compared to LTC (Litecoin) because price developments are increasing rapidly, I see today at the position of USD 162 and still have the potential to rise even higher.In other positions, LTC is also a highly prospective altcoin for investment, the price is quite good now at USD 74 and this is one of the most traded in the crypto market.

Of course the 2 coins are worth buying, especially Litecoin which will be halving day in August so it will skyrocket, I hope the market can improve so that the two coins continue to rise.
