Ok, lupanar, thanks a lot for your detailed answer. Will check discord for info. Or may be better to wait POS wallet )
You wellcome
In the meantime, to keep community updated, here is concise text of recent update from discord
@everyone - a little more detailed update (part 1):
Dear community,
We want to keep you up-to-date and posted on the progress for the fix for the chain and the HF features.
Background:
To release Mercury V5, Luxcore had planned an-all-in-one Hard Fork. Users, in this case, will be able to use both wallets (4.3 and 5), but transactions will only be visible and spendable once the user upgrades to the new wallet version. This HF was planned to be performed by taking a snapshot at 299500 block height and through an Isolated approach. In the case of an Isolated HF, pools and exchanges are provided the right chain details and seeds to connect- anyone who doesn’t follow the new chain will be on the old unsupported network.
We were successful in taking the snapshot at 299500 and for the next 10 blocks isolated the network through the HF. But we soon saw that the isolated network was unstable and the HF did not hold good after ~299520- while we were investigating the issue and root cause, we were aware that pools were waiting and were getting angsty as they had stopped mining for over a couple of hours and the chain height had already reached 299750+ (thanks to some pools / PoS)
@everyone part 2:
Dev team took a decision to go for regular HF at 300K and the new daemon and port details were released to all the waiting pools and the situation was explained. The block height was hovering around 299833 and there were concerns/insinuations/doubts that others (some pools) who did not follow the upgrade mined the coins unfairly while the other Lux pools were waiting for the upgrade (and while we were trying to find a root cause). We also ran into peer identification issue on the new Windows QT wallet while Linux and Mac versions were working fine. As it was important to release all the wallets for all users, together, in the interest of fairness, the dev team were busy trying to get this sorted as well before the HF.
More than 95% of LUX Pools followed the upgrade and we were on course for 300k- at which point the new features would have been live. HF at 300k was smooth to start with, PoS was working, new rewards were being paid to Masternodes. But unfortunately, even though PoW was working and miners were hashing on PHI2, no PoW blocks were found and the new chain was eventually halted at 300047 block height
@everyone part 3:
What went well?:
- The HF – introduction of the features, SegWit , SC etc. at 300k
- Reward Change for PoS
What didn’t go so well:
- The Isolated HF at 299500 (the network flipped in under 20 blocks)
- Win Wallet issues with peer identification on mainnet
- PoW blocks after 300k
- Communication with pools when there was a delay in identifying the root cause
Current Status of Chain: The new chain is on “pause” at 300047 height. The old chain is still running on 4.3 and majority of all pools have stopped mining operations on Lux until dev team go-ahead. If using v5, you may experience sync issues.
Status of Pools: Some pools are still operating on 4.3 and they have been contacted. PoS is still active on 4.3, but in the event of a rollback, the rewards will be non-existent on the new chain.
Exchanges & Web Wallet: Exchanges and web wallet went into maintenance mode well before the proposed HF. Your funds are safe and once we are on the right chain, post tests, will be re-enabled.
Next Steps:
- Get the right chain started back up and get pools on it
- Ensure wallets are available and ready
- Open mining
- Fork over to Mercury V5
@everyone - part4:
The right approach to introducing this and the chain restart is being worked out. As there are multiple ways of doing this, we are currently working out the possibility of a rollback to 299500 and re-introducing the new chain at that block height. If this is chosen approach, the rewards post 299500 will be invalid in the new chain.
The dev team will assess all issues/risks before proceeding further. As the final approach may vary, we will let the community know once a decision has been taken.
We want the best for this amazing community and we thank each and every one of you for being patient and understanding, including the pool ops who have stayed up the nights with us to introduce Phi2 to their pools.
Thank You!
From everyone at Luxcore!
