Monero very overpriced coin, only for 2016, this coin price rose more than 2,500%, given such growth, and that full-length asked us Poloniex, you can calculate what it's all manipulation, and greatly inflated bubble, certainly on short can earn some money, but the investment in the long I'm going to do in the XMR

Better look at coins with a small market cap, Nav will do great next 2 months. If monero drop a lot might buy some now i rather wanna sit out.

With your analogy no one would have bought bitcoin when it even passed the 3 Digits.

It is a great point. I remember who sold BTC in the last run for 200 USD and after a week the price went over 1000 USD. Monero is in early days of experimentation but it has more potential to grow, than Bitcoin has. I may be wrong but XMR does what BTC can't offer - advanced privacy features. If XMR will succeed, about what we can't be sure, the price of it will grow exponentially.

Just some great videos:

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
Fungibilty is Monero's killer app. It will slowly infect everything and explode when reaching critical mass.

Yet: I'd like to offer the below as a view to ponder in the context of all things crypto and its small and wishful community:

https://medium.com/the-exofiles/a-letter-to-the-blockchain-community-8217fd0a4757#.9do1av9av

Truncated excerpts from the blog: "...if you want masses of normal people to adopt your technology...really matter to the average Joe...direct it towards the production of simple apps that solve a real problem and just work".

I'm an average Joe and what would be useful to me at this point in time is an Android Monero wallet app capable of connecting to a personal/private/secure remote node (or any remote node for that matter) so I can transact on the go. This would be a good start for XMR to attain mainstream adoption.

Of course, a standalone node running on an Android device would be preferable but I couldn't even get the existing PoC Android Monero node to work.
I've successfully run the command line wallet on more than one android phone using this:
http://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/2702/is-it-possible-to-run-a-full-monerod-node-on-android
and the phones don't have to be rooted.
You could theoretically sync the blockchain but I couldn't get that to work, so I used a remote node.
About the only thing I would add to the instructions on stackexchange would be:  after you install GNURoot, create a monero directory, go to the directory, and then run those commands.
Keeps things neat, you don't want monero files scattered hither and yon.
Of course, the above is too much for the truly average joe.   Somebody needs to develop an app to do it automatically, and wrap it in a gui or use the existing gui wallet.

Don't say wrap, it's a four letter word here. Smiley

noticed some weird behavior in the GUI wallet

2 days ago i synced and left my wallet open since.
1 day ago the pool send me some XMR. it showed up in the balance indicator, but the transaction did not show in the 'history' tab. Only after close/restart gui it did appear.

Yep! I posted about this early on.

Additionally, "Wrong version" appears on the lower left corner and "Connected daemon is not compatible with GUI. Please upgrade or connect to another daemon" pops up in the middle of the default GUI screen before it eventually starts to sync (green progress bar). It's disconcerting.

Thought provoking and in parts it rings uncomfortably true. I have family members who are of the smart phone generation who I hold Monero for - as they understand they should be getting in, but are just confused by the tech so much.

I also am ashamed to admit I cannot even make the GUI work on my mac.  It only runs if I use a remote node, I can't make the daemon work and I feel an idiot when I go onto git hub and people just suggest fixes and lines on code to run in the CLI, which I struggle to understand. If it's that hard for me (and I have been in crypto since 2012 and on here regularly since 2013) then we have a long way to go for 'general' adoption.

I love Monero and I do 'get' it, but crypto generally is complicated and it is utterly pointless me trying to explain to even my smarter relatives about seed words, private keys, cold wallets, view keys and blockchain tech.  For most, it's hard enough to get to work and get by without having to take in all this other stuff and get involved in this whole new world, when it does have risks if you are the sort of person who struggles to remember all your pin numbers and have often forgotten an online password.

I have constant issues working across borders at work with money transfers.  It's too expensive and takes too long.  But suggesting to recipients I pay, or receive in crypto if they are not already involved is still very hard. They get Paypal, but I can't suggest Monero or even Bitcoin.

We do needs apps and technical solutions that look simple and just work and do useful things simply without the need for jumping through so many complicated and scary hoops. I still find I rarely can pay in BTC, and I have yet to buy anything directly in Monero.

It will come, but we are not there yet.

If the community will not get there, third parties will and the bad actor risk will always be there and spoil it - which is not what we want.

My sentiments also.

By moving from BCT to your own platform, aren't you afraid of losing "trust"? By this, I mean here in BCT there are all kind of people. People who support Monero, people who are against Monero and people who do not even what they are writing about lol. But the point is, different groups of people could share their opinions here and have a clash of arguments. In your own platform, obviously, Monero supporters have louder voice. I am not against having multiple platforms of communication including your own forum...etc. but moving away from BCT, which is considered one of the central places of crypto communication, I am interested how you are not afraid of losing attention to your currency and an elaboration of what you mean when writing people who have to know about Monero know about it already.

Nobody is moving anything. The comment/link in the OP is out of date. At one time (years ago) this thread was the only place to discuss Monero, and people wanted something more Monero-focused and flexible (for example a platform to implement Monero-based crowdfunding), so that was the focus of the "move". That happened long ago, and at this point, people just discuss Monero all over the place (here, reddit, twitter, monero forum, IRC, slack, telegram, etc., etc.)

AFAIK - the threads here aren't moving anywhere.  Monero has many other online resources and knowledge centres (Github, Stack Exchange etc) but there is no move 'away' from the forums here on BCT, just additional areas for more specialised information.

It looks like most have moved to reddit and the only thing I see there is that they can moderate, I've seen no other logical argument to move. The few Dedicated XMR forums have looked like abject failures to me that only have long time members with few new members on them. I guess a good argument for reddit is that it has a larger exposure than BCT but to me that should be a sub for n00b q&A but the core discussions should be from here where it all started. It seems IRC has been used for alot of these discussions which is bullshit if they don't archive the logs as It's not easily searched like this is and when I had questions I was told it was discussed and decided on IRC but when I asked for the logs I was told no-one has them and various other excuses were used so that I never got the info I was getting at and funnily enough not long after the "Lab" announced a bug right in the area I was trying to Vet.

Some people like living in an echo chamber and some just can't deal with the trolling but you have to take the good with the bad.

Good man. Should always diversify. 50% xmr and 50% Monero maybe?

Afaik the MyMonero overhaul may be the right step into the smartphone generation Smiley

I look forward to any move taking us closer to ease of use.

A good gui on the computer that is easy to install and works out of the box, like Bitcoin Core does, plus a slick but simple Monero app available on the smartphone (MyMonero on your phone?) for day to day transactions would be a huge leap.
