I should have sold all altcoins and tokens to buy bitcoin, in fact I still hold a few altcoin and tokens are currently smaller in volume.
And fear the altcoins become shit coins or dead coins. Therefore I plan to follow your advice to sell all coins to buy bitcoin. But still
I was hesitant to do it. I hope that in the next few days there will be positive changes in market conditions. So I don't need to sell
all the tokens and altcoins I have.

Fear and hesitation are very common in this situation of the altcoins market and because of these two natures, we made mistakes! If you sold your shitcoin to buy reputed altcoin or bitcoin, then you made a great decision. Selling all altcoins are not the solution, rather selling low volume shitcoin to buy Bitcoin is the perfect plan for now! Because after holding two years, we can't sell all our altcoins by seeing a bear season, and I believe the Altcoin market will bounce back for sure!

I think that what you have done is expected from all of us. major players expect weak coin holders to sell their altcoins and then the altcoins season will begin

Lol this is like propaganda.

It is, but it's positive propaganda, it's not like some Cold War black-and-white movie or something. I even used a warm and fuzzy reference to grandkids - who could possibly not want grateful grandkids?

If this doesn't work on you then you might be a lost cause. Keep altcoining then.

LOL... This is exactly what I did around one year ago. Back then, I was holding at least 30 different altcoins (including tokens). I sold around 80% of them, converting them to either BTC or ETH. I sold coins that looked useless for me, including Bitsend, Denarius, Byteball, Bitcore, Cartaxi, Towerbee.etc. I decided to keep a selected bunch, including Ether, Bitcoin Cash, Deep Onion, Stellar Lumens and TMT (Traxia). And now I can confidently say that I made the right decision. Each and every coin that I sold in 2018 is now worth less than the prices we had one year ago. I was wrong in holding on to coins such as XLM and TMT. I should have sold them too.

Altcoins right now is having a bad image in the market, as we can see the following altcoins are getting dump and dump everyday.
Your point is selling our altcoins and our tokens right now so that we can avoid heavy frustrations that may give by those shitty coins. It is true that compare to bitcoin, altcoins are still not as good for it but as we can see bitcoin and altcoin are the same coins so let's not forget about altcoins and maybe someday the time that altcoins dominates bitcoin will come, and when that happens I hope we are still altcoiners.

No matter what, I won't be selling my altcoins and there's no point on doing that now if you hold from January 2018 to now because you both at the peak and you sell at the dip, this is very opposite of the right thing to do and it's a bad style of cutting loses to again invest in BTC for long term.

well, maybe you are right if you want to hodl your alts, because sell your alts in the dip is a bad way on investments strategy
but, if you bought in january 2018 thats mean your portofolio already decreasing very hard mate,
maybe you must learn from your experience, wich mean in all your trading or investing you must set a stop loss level
so, when the price going deeper, you can buy back again with your money, with this way you will get more coins,  Wink

I think you are using too broad a stroke to group all altcoins together. I get it, the altmarket is down from its previous highs. But don't forget BTC is down too. And it's not like choosing an alt is always betting against BTC, sometimes alts rise at a quicker rate than BTC -- LTC did this earlier in the year.

BTC is way way up relative to altcoins, which is what this thread is about. BTC dominance increased significantly since the bubble. Again, we can cherry-pick anything to prove anything but as a whole altcoins suck compared to BTC and will continue to suck.

The answer is easy ... the OP sold his altcoins and is now holding BTC. So of course he now says everyone should sell their alts and buy BTC instead.

It's no different than the typical shill posts here for any other coin. If he was holding ETH, we'd be hearing how everyone should cash in their BTC for ETH instead, BTC is doomed due to slow transaction speed, or whatever.

LOL... BS... If hadn't sold you'd say (and many said in this thread) that I'm just venting my frustration. My thread is not going to move BTC in any significant way for me to benefit from it. All I'm saying is - don't gamble by holding altcoins, you're likely to lose in this game, and most bag holders will lose. The few that make some real or imaginary gains will yell at me that I'm wrong but I don't really care. I said what needed to be said even if you don't like it.

why do we have to sell it? I think there's no problem if we keep holding it. The market has fallen to a bottom, and I bought some altcoin on the market in the past few months. I think, hold is still a good decision right now. the market won't get worse than this, so don't worry for everyone who just bought altcoin this year. because we only have to wait until the market goes up

You know how this is going to end. You might be trying to lie to yourself, you might be secretly hoping that some token in your "portfolio" that you have 10 million of is going to moon to $50 and make you rich, but let's be real: that is not going to happen. Even the allegedly strong altcoins like LTC or ETH or whatever is cool these days (I've been out of this game for a while) are not doing well and BTC dominance is growing. Which makes sense if you think about it. BTC can do most of what any altcoin can do and the few really useful features that BTC is missing (private transactions for example) are implemented by multiple altcoins, fragmenting their market share.

And the elephant in the room: 99% of altcoins are total garbage. They're called shitcoins for a reason.

Sell your altcoins and tokens. Take the proceeds in BTC, stick it into a cold wallet, keep some online to play around with Lightning and other things that actually matter for real-life stuff, like being able to buy something. When was the last time you were able to use for example Ethereum for something tangible, not to buy some garbage tokens or to play a game?

Do it today. Your grandkids will thank you.
In cryptocurrency, everything can change within a few days. I am used to trusting my eyes and see that many altcoins have bypassed bitcoin in their development for a long time. Many of them are fast, cheap, have very low or even free transactions and convenient practical application. Therefore, I do not think that altcoins are unpromising. I am confident in many of my altcoins and am going to continue to hold them and hope for their price growth.

Except that if someone bought altcoins in the last ~20 months they probably didn't have any profit to take and you see a lot of people in this thread thinking that selling at a loss is a bad thing. It's not a bad thing if you avoid an even bigger loss.

It comes down to specific projects. If folks believe their coin has a good team + decent fundamentals + plan, it's up to them if they think it'll outpace BTC or not. If we look at 2018-19, the argument would be you really, really need to pick your coins correctly.

And sure, sometimes it's best to sell taking a loss, just to avoid a further loss. But it's silly for anyone to listen to some guy in a forum thread and act like he's an expert on your specific holdings.

I hope no one listened to the man who opened this thread. The market is likely to move for 2-3 days. Features altcoins look excellent. Full greenery prevails. If you have stayed in the altcoins you have made a minimum profit of 20%.

Always listen to yourself when investing.

Here is my own advice to everyone, sell your altcoins and tokens today and regret tomorrow, humans have the habit of turning away from things that turn hard and look else where for easy paths, well this is not reality to me, when things get hard in time they will change, this OP advice is very misleading and can make you regret your decision soon, instead of aiding his or her advice its better to play safe by diversification of your portfolio

How many traders, so many opinions, and each of them has their own coin selling strategy. I would not be in a hurry to sell my coins for less than I bought. You need to be patient and wait for a favorable market situation, which in any case will come.

No, it most likely will not. Most altcoins and tokens will not bring profit except for their "devs" and other insiders.

that's unfortunately true. and if you observe what different bounty campaigns for fruits carry and what communications
there are in telegram (when distirbution, when airdrop ...) it's no wonder that nobody earns money currently. Cheesy

Yes, it's stupid to buy high and sell low but that deal was sealed when you (I don't mean you personally... whoever) bought it. You can't make it into a good deal by waiting longer. Let's think this through. If something declined 80% (which is quite common for shitcoins since January 2018) you need a 400% gain just to break even. Worse yet, during the last mini bull run when Bitcoin went up to about $13k altcoins went in the opposite direction (declined relative to Bitcoin). Holding altcoins you're betting against Bitcoin.

if you bought it, then you should have taken profit when the price hit. a certain price target is to be considered when you bought your tokens.  as for me i'm a bounty hunter, i just take some coins that i earn from campaigns, sometimes i don't sell them. i just keep them. the last bullrun i didn't sell those tokens and up to now they are still in my wallet. one of the stash rise up to $54k, i forgot to dump it. i hope when it happens again i'd be able to.

if you like keeping coins because you are hopeful that it will keep rising one day, its your choice.

The bitcoin market runs well when good news or platform developments are carried out, although market values are difficult to understand but it is true that altcoin has a high setback vulnerability. Altcoin on average has a lower community compared to bitcoin, so to maintain the value is rather difficult if there is a dump, although not all altcoin and tokens are shitcoin.
