Christian Dekker: “I think that everyone will use bitcoin in one form or another. I’m not sure in what form this will happen, whether each person will have their own wallet or bitcoin will be part of some other mechanism in the hidden form "However, this is a very important tool, and people will use it."
What do you think guys? how many years do we need for all people using BTC?
I don't think BTC will ever catch on as an actual currency, used by everyone. It may catch on as a currency in countries with hyper-inflation, but even there they probably are better off using a different coin.
Where BTC will hopefully catch on is as a store of value, like gold. Now gold in theory can be exchanged for goods, but it's not like folks are going to their local starbucks and buying a cup of coffee with a sliver of gold. BTC is too volatile (and currently way too slow/clunky) to be used as a currency for most people, and I don't see that changing much in the future.
For crypto to catch on as a currency, I believe it needs to be some sort of stablecoin.
