MTgox is just playing with himself... to put an end at the <$5 ...
MtGox is a market setter for various other exchanges and services. If I was running one of those I'd be pulling the plug right now to avoid getting played on arbitrage.

Volume doesn't agree with that spike, I think those $15.95 trades didn't happen.

also i dont think theres anything to wind back, that high at both 9 and 15 seem like invalid data, theres no volume to show that trades were executed at these prices

This is the reason to have silly Asks way above the market price. Someone gets access to a mass of bitcoins and it's the only way to profit. The only other winner out of all of this is MtGox. Love those transaction fees.
