maybe governments can stop bitcoin but they can not stop people from using bitcoin and people will find another way to keep using bitcoin. governments is only keep watching and research about bitcoin while their searching the opportunity to getting involve in bitcoin because I think they have unlimited resource and asset. but crypto currency especially bitcoin itself can not be stop by any one and it will growth in the future.

I stand correct, just another time, the CEO of JPMorgan bank says bitcoin is a fraud and everyone start panic selling. I'm starting to believe that we actually don't need things like TumbleBit, LN etc. in the near future because people don't even know what is bitcoin and what is it really about, we can worry about these features when people are educated.

It is not that easy to stop bitcoin, it is different with ICO where the supports is still small, bitcoin got a world wide users and most of the users are hi tech people, and I believe they can find  away to make bitcoin alive, but if government banned bitcoin it will affected bitcoin price a lot
No, I don’t think so that government can stop bit coin after all because it’s unstoppable crypto currency in which a lot tech lovers are interested and is popular among the people of all fields. If ever it happens that government succeeds in stopping bit coin, they can’t because it is a digital currency that can be accessed from anywhere all around the world.

Well this it completely possible.

BUT I am optimistic because:
  • Japan has accepted it as an official currency
  • It looks like india will follow japan
  • Why would China regulate ICO´s, but Ban BTC ?
  • Even Goldman Sachs has admitted the blockcaintech is awesome
  • Look at the total crypto market cap, this is not like a small thing. At the moment it is ~ 140.000.000.000 USD. So you can´t just prohibit it now, prohibition would cause a chaos, and everyday the Cryptocurrency support grows

If by 'stop' you mean 'terminate' it, it's not possible 100%. But they can regulate it by law, although it will remain decentralized by concept, but it will be centralized when you are willing to 'cash out' your coins.

They can't stop bitcoin only can stop companys for using them. Thats all don't panic.

I don't agree much with that but it will be hard for them to make it 100% unavailable in any country. But if the government will make a new one with low fees and more secured one and have much chance to profit 2x more, after brainwashing they're own citizens about bitcoin as a criminal money. I think they will have a chance but the question is how many years? That will be a hard question to answered. But I will provide a hint, a century. So in short they can try but will never taste success.

This is a serious discussion. I mean, after I've seen how bitcoin (and other cryptos as well) got dumped badly after an irrelevant law that makes ICOs illegal. I can only imagine now what would happen If more countries do the same thing and It could get worst by make itself bitcoin illegal. Whether we like to admit it or not, most of people would sell everything they have once its made illegal, some may continue to fight the central banking but the sad reality is that as soon as people start making profits, they will dump it and move on.
Ofcourse it is not impossible for people to stop in bitcoin specially when the government really want to stop bitcoin and make it illegal, we can not do something about it. As of now, not all countries really accept bitcoin thats why almost all of the people there are not subscribing or using bitcoin because it has no exchanger at all. So we can see that if the government will forbid bitcoin and force us so stop it, we will be really forced to stop it.

Government has a power to banned bitcoin in the country and only government can do that, that is why much better if bitcoin would be legalize in every country to lessen the negative doubt in bitcoin. Also if bitcoin is already fully adopted more investors got interest in bitcoin and they will help to increase the demand of bitcoin and it will reflect on the value.

I am very positive that this will not happened after all. For as long as bitcoin is being used well, these deeds will accumulate what it deserves. Usually people in the government leading them are those not really aware of the new things we have now in our society. By just educating them perhaps will help.
I will second this statement as we all know the uprising of the bitcoins internationally. A time will come when there will be more profit in transactions through bitcoins over other fiat currencies so the governments will themselves try tomerge their businesses into it.

For now the easiest way to control bitcoin is through exchanges. They totally deanonymizes users. So, for now it is the weakest point of bitcoin.
As soon we will pass scaling problems anonymizing solutions will be implemented.
In Japan and Korea bitcoin is officially recognized, other countries planning to do their own cryptocurrencies. So, even some countries will ban bitcoin it will not have huge influence. Price does not matter at all, bitcoin became bitcoin only because of it unique properties. If you are considering bitcoins success through it price you are wrong. Market is very thin and it is relatively easy to dump or pump. What matters - decentralized properties, independence, security, immutability.
Forget about price, about governments and other bullshit, follow it development and properties that is what tell you what to do with it.

I do agree. Governments can only control exchanges but it cannot stop bitcoin from being a bitcoin after all. But based on a certain law, "every action has an opposite reaction" If that happens, when government starts to control local exchanges. I think it will also affects it's price which made bitcoin special and unique. So I disagree that price doesn't matter after all. I believe price always matter, even at all things.

But I think other countries won't follow what kind of idiotic things China did. But if that happens, we just have accept it. We can't do anything else, but to follow.

The action of the Chinese to somewhat curb bitcoin activity in their country is uncalled for. But being the government, we can't do anything but to follow the rules they have set. If they want to ban ICO's, fine, exchange ok as well. But they can stop bitcoin from flourishing again? I doubt. If the Chinese government is really waging a war against bitcoin, its gonna be futile. What the Chinese investors can do is just moved around their bitcoin to other exchanges and they can still do their trading. I'm pretty sure that other countries will not follow the Chinese, but in the bright side its gonna be a perfect opportunity for another country to step up what the Chinese market has left.

I think that's not gonna happen. To stop bitcoin they need to stop also the internet and we all know that no one's own internet. Let's say a government banned the bitcoin but the government cannot stop people who wants to earn bitcoin. So there is nothin to worry about it.

The government wants to control bitcoin and soon if several more countries ban it, the price may drop significantly. Bitcoin has grown very well and is a huge competition for the banking system.
It shouldn't be involved with the government because we didn't know what government could do to bitcoin. Governments now is very selfish when it comes to money they want that all money will be sent to them those people who are in the government. So I believe that bitcoin should be cared by the developers because once bitcoin will involved to government therefore there's something happened that are not good.
I support your opinion. All the governments are bloody greedy and selfish, they give a damn to the needs of public rather care about filling their accounts with dollars. Governments should never ever be involved in managing d handling bitcoins. They will simply sue bitcoins for their own welfare.
I Think this is wrong because everything should be monitor by the governments if govt dose not then their will be anarchy every where

No, that's not gonna be happen. We all know that government was categorize in centralization system while Bitcoin was categorize in decentralization were obviously the government can't able to control bitcoin because of this wonderful and great features of bitcoin.

I am hoping too, but the mere fact that thry can banned it all over the world scares me in the sense that someday bitcoin might not give taxes in government since government cannot do something for them to get money they'll make away to stop this and I am hoping that it wouldnt happened soon since bitcoin has gaining now popularity because of its value.

It is hard to see Bitcoin being banned from all countries because there are lots of countries that are actively supporting and legallizing it like Russia and Vietnam. And there are people buying those dumps which are mostly the whales who stock up on their coins whenever the price drops and people panic sell
big names in terms of country who's supporting crypto, we seen that japan austalia and korea recently express their supports while china is on the process of
thinking on how to regulate bitcoin/crypto and with Russia showing strong support maybe its hard to stop bitcoin in any ways.

They dont have to completely stop bitcoin to kill it.

Introduce a new law where anyone caught using bitcoin gets 20 years in jail and watch the userbase shrink overnight and the price plumet as the majority dump.

You would always get the few that continue to use but but not enough people to maintain current price point.

no its not, because many people wanting to have a lot of money using Bitcoin this is the way to change  our life in terms of financial many people around will find any solution of poverty, but now! bitcoin is doing that for us, unless Bitcoin is used for an illegal activities, which is not good,  that's  the time the government will going to stop this bitcoin

Bitcoin is not just a currency/investment.
It is a story as well.
A story about an invention for small people that helps them to rebel a bit against authorities. People like stories like that. It's a good seller!
With every government that tries to intervene in the usage of bitcoin, that story becomes stronger. And the people feel more attracted to it and join.
I think if governments try to stop bitcoin they will reach the opposite in the end.

China government's decision is entirely different from other country governments.First, they decided to ban bitcoin. Then as hey found it difficult to do so directly, they started to regulate chinese exchanges regulations from PBOC.Then, now they have banned ICOs.PBOC has planned to create ts own prototype crypto currency.Only trading crypto currencies in chinese exchanges are banned and trading outside is not yet banned.Definitely,it would create an impact on bitcoin price making its price down.Investors should make use of this opportunity and buy more bitcoins. But other countries seems not to have such idea of banning cryptos.Instead, most countries are coming forward to legalize bitcoin. They have realized that they could not stop bitcoin and instead they should legalize bitcoin and regulate it for increasing tax revenues from bitcoin earnings.Dragon era seems to come to an end soon.
