Yes it actually can. The government has the full power to everything and if they want to impose a law on stopping something, they can. Sad truth.

But if you think about bitcoin it will help the country's economy, why would they do it by law, it's sad to see if that day is coming. Better in other countries bitcoin is legal and they can use it everyday.

Government will always be government if ever they will pass a law that can really kill Bitcoin it only means that they need someone from the legal team of Bitcoin to give them tax for them to continue to ignore Bitcoin. The reason why Government will possibly do this is because the more people who uses Bitcoin the less they are getting from the tax. Because as we all know if we used Bitcoin we can use this for transaction, buy and sell or even in gambling and those are the things that government get tax.

The government wants to control bitcoin and soon if several more countries ban it, the price may drop significantly. Bitcoin has grown very well and is a huge competition for the banking system.

im agree that if the government controls the bitcoin it is possible to destabilize its price. The world bank will recover the big money bitcoin conquered. When the world bank moves undoubtedly affected all banks around the world. if there is 21million of bitcoin great value now .. fiat vz bitcoin as of now bitcoin is a winner because there is no government controlling price.

It shouldn't be involved with the government because we didn't know what government could do to bitcoin. Governments now is very selfish when it comes to money they want that all money will be sent to them those people who are in the government. So I believe that bitcoin should be cared by the developers because once bitcoin will involved to government therefore there's something happened that are not good.

This is a serious discussion. I mean, after I've seen how bitcoin (and other cryptos as well) got dumped badly after an irrelevant law that makes ICOs illegal. I can only imagine now what would happen If more countries do the same thing and It could get worst by make itself bitcoin illegal. Whether we like to admit it or not, most of people would sell everything they have once its made illegal, some may continue to fight the central banking but the sad reality is that as soon as people start making profits, they will dump it and move on.

It is possible that they can make it illegal but then there are just so many people nowadays that use it and banning it would just make many people violate the law cause they will still continue to use it. I think banning those ICOs is good because the government can see that it is getting out of hand. Many people are attracted to invest in ICOs because of the profit potential but then many are scammed eventually because some scammers take this opportunity because ICOs are trending and its hard to determine if the coin has a real purpose or just a sh*tcoin.

Yes government has the power but I think its too late for them to stop bitcoin because it is going mainstream and if they ban it then they deny the people of the opportunity to have a technology that has the power to change the way the money flows today and its really a big help to stop those people who use their power to abuse people because information would be transparent and they cannot just easily get away with it if the evidence is in public.

I think we are too far into the development of Bitcoin to make it illegal. There are too many businesses that have started because of Bitcoin and many others that have adapted to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to stop now.

Even if they over regulate Bitcoin, it will continue to live as it was intended which is a blockchain that can exist separate from any government. It can still be a way to store money and make transactions.

I don't want to be offensive but the ICO banning was made in China and i personnally think that's one crazy country with the Communist Party of China in power. But,not all countries have the same social and economic system that's why most countries will do what is good for it's people and just let bitcoin be

If governments make crypto illegal, it stands to reason all currnecy in any video game would also be illegal if it was tradeable.

Runescape gold, WoW gold, it is all sold for USD on the market. Second Life credits and lots of other things are sold for USD and used to buy and or sell things. I really doubt it would happen.

I don't know why people say this things like government will control bitcoin etc. You think bitcoin will be decentralized and stay decentralized all this years if the government know this will happen? And now that they know that, why aren't they having any movement about it? It is a huge threat to the banks but government don't really cared about it. They are happy collecting taxes so they are all good.
bitcoin is flowing like fast river and no one can ever stop it so it is very crazy to think that bitcoin is going to stop ever infect bitcoin currency is increasing in the popularity as well because now a lot of countries are accepting bitcoin and they want it to become legal currency hope and hope comes true so I hope soon bitcoin will become a legal currency and then no one will be able to stop the spreading journey of the bitcoin for sure.

Government has nothing to do with bitcoin because they aren't the one who holds it. And there are no reasons for the government to stop the bitcoin because as we can see the feedback about the bitcoin was very good and it says that it is very advantagable and it helps a lot of person in terms of financial problems.

There is an issue related to that. It is clear that the government can not control Bitcoin flow. However, they oblige merchants (e.g. cryptocurrency exchanges) to comply with AML and KYC procedures, making it difficult to exchange Bitcoins to "real" currency.

I think base aon what I read in the forum I just know what section it is, there are aleady other country they banned bitcoin then after a short period of time they revoked what they did unto it. so I think same thing with the ico coins because it is also a virtual/digital currency like bitcoin only their values is there difference.

Hopefully only in China that prohibits the existence of illegal ico so that later we can still feel the results of other projects. And no more worries to keep stockpiling coins with small or large quantities of the main Do not ever try to immediately sell or until the coin is removed.

I do not care about this issue. It happens almost every year and there is no way they can stop bitcoin. Even if they can stop bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies will be born and they will become even greater than bitcoin. They will have a better security, better anonymous system and can handle many things than bitcoin. The government can not win on this battle

I don't think so because as I know bitcoin isn't hold by the government and the government has nothing to do with it. All I can say is that government can criticize the bitcoin thing and file some issues about it but they can't just stop bitcoin after all. Bitcoin today is very strong in terms of there are many users and businessman that invest on it.

No, that's not gonna be happen. We all know that government was categorize in centralization system while Bitcoin was categorize in decentralization were obviously the government can't able to control bitcoin because of this wonderful and great features of bitcoin.
I also have think that the government have no good reason for them to do to bitcoin system. I may see that government would take bitcoin as a good opportunity for them to put a development and progress to transactions .

Maybe governments can stop Bitcoin, But do they want to?
There are so many famous people using bitcoin and possibly
some politicians around the world who have Bitcoin, they will
not want to see it banned or outlawed.

The banking system literally killed people (and whole nations) simply for money or because they didn't want to follow them. I find it weird to believe that they won't actually make a simple law to make it illegal whether some politicians use it or not, these people can easily be paid or blackmailed.

Now the banks are the rule. The politicians are elected with their money, they choose who wins and who loses as money talks (the mass sells their votes for pennies). Politicians create and make laws as banks and another important sectors want. I don't know if it happens on all countries, but on many.

I believe the banks with politicians will control Bitcoin, but not ban it. They can hold all the supply of BTCs for a country and sell to their citizens for the price they want. Like what already happens if we want to buy Dollars, we never pay the fair price and we never sell for the fair price.

This is not true! Trump was elected using his own money, not lending from the banks or lobbyists. And look how many famous people tried to take him down during the election, yet he prevailed. Therefore, I am quite certain if the government wanted to ban Bitcoin is would be very easy to do. All they need to do is shut down the exchanges and Bitcoin-related major sites (like this forum) and crypto would come crashing down.

You are talking about a first world country (the top 1 country) where the values remain and are taught to their people even with the shadow's attempts to destroy the moral. As I said: it happens on many countries, but there are exceptions (like USA, as you said). I focus on nations crushed by the corruption, ignorance, envy, depravity. That is the modus operandi to conquer a chaotic nation and rule over the ruins.

These ones are easy to rule and there isn't resistance from the citizens side, not because they are innocent or fools, but because they are permissive with the powerful thieves.
