When bitcoin wasn't well known governments didn't think much about it now it is one of this centuries hottest products and has received alot of attention they will see it as a revenue stream they are missing out on and will want their slice. If more and more make ico illegal we will just have coins we have in the market.

If a country or if several countries will declare ICOs as illegal, the providers will simply start their projects in jurisdictions where it is allowed.

Many governments declared online gambling as illegal or regulated it and there are still million of people doing it. You can not stop a decentralized and worldwide system like bitcoin with declaring it as illegal.

This is a serious discussion. I mean, after I've seen how bitcoin (and other cryptos as well) got dumped badly after an irrelevant law that makes ICOs illegal. I can only imagine now what would happen If more countries do the same thing and It could get worst by make itself bitcoin illegal. Whether we like to admit it or not, most of people would sell everything they have once its made illegal, some may continue to fight the central banking but the sad reality is that as soon as people start making profits, they will dump it and move on.
The dump is caused by speculators and weak hands, no one that know anything about bitcoin will see a relationship between icos being banned and bitcoin, most of the icos are ETH tokens and have no relationship with bitcoin, now bitcoin is trading at the same levels as before which show to us this was nothing but a speculative dump if it was a real one the price will go down and stay down for months or years.
No it will never happened because millions of people have invest their money in bitcoins and the only hope of unemployed people is Bitcoin so no government will treat their people so harsh that they will stop Bitcoins at all.
While governments in theory should worry about the well being of their populations, at the same time, they are going to do everything to ensure their own survival, if they think bitcoin is bad for them, they are going to try to ban it, even if for most of the people that have invested in bitcoin, the experience has been positive thanks to the big earnings they got out of their investment.
I think it's impossible if government can stop bitcoin because bitcoin has contributed many things already. The money that it has from crypto are being distributed from different sectors considering the small entrepreneurs which give them hope to build a better business and help industries. I don't think can still stop that because some entrepreneurs can definitely recognized bitcoin as a source of success and that moment, governments will change their minds.

Even if it is impossible for governments to ban bitcoin, they are going to try, and they are going to do everything in their power to stop something like bitcoin, bitcoin is a direct competitor to two of the biggest organizations of the world, banks and governments, and I do not think they are ready to lose a great part of their earnings simply because a new technology appeared.

Well, I think how many people are helped with bitcoin especially for those who have lost their jobs or unemployed people, they are helped by having bitcoin to meet all their financial needs, and many positive things that bitcoin produces, of course it would be very harmful if the government forbids bitcoin, if the government prohibits the bitcoin it will affect people who hold their bitcoin, they will lose the source of income they have been living, it will certainly have an impact on the increase of unemployment in the country
every government of a country does have such a capability, like china, they even had time to make an effect on bitcoin prices. well, but I think it would be very loss if doing that. although I can, but I think it would be very much harmful to people.
I agree, Bitcoin has been once declared an illegal even by china themselves even though they came out later to say the news wasn't accurate but did that stop bitcoin from thriving. Government cannot do anything about that ,they have to take proper notes of different economy, first of all cryptocurrency is decentralized and government centralized they cant control it over.

Well for something that doesn't have any real form, it will.be hard for governments to stop it. Even in china, i don't believe that bitcoin isn't being used. There probably are still a lot of people working around that ban and continues to trade.
The value and the importance of the bitcoin is high and you are right is not possible to make the bitcoin unused anywhere so in china the bitcoin is being use and the importance of the bitcoin will be more than this in few coming years, it is not good for the people only but for the government as well so I think the government will not stop the use of the bitcoin in the country at all.

No, that's not gonna be happen. We all know that government was categorize in centralization system while Bitcoin was categorize in decentralization were obviously the government can't able to control bitcoin because of this wonderful and great features of bitcoin.
i agree its hard to be stopped. but if all country declare bitcoin illegal, i wonder what will happen to the market value. what makes goverment cant stop the coin is because the technology that cryptocurrency had such as blochchain . k still believe the future of all of thing related to business is this technology.
I think the government will not stop bitcoin, now bitcoin is slowly get involve in society. Just look at the government of the country of Japan they made bitcoin legalize and they are the proof that bitcoin will never become a threat for a country and bitcoin will become a huge help for them and that is why not all the government will banned bitcoin.

Bitcoin- in bullish time
I doubt it, government can't stop BTC. They have no control in every digital currency. They cannot trace the person behind for every transaction unlike with banks.
Governments cannot stop anything. Honestly, they try hard, pass thousands of laws, and make cop departments for forcing the laws but still the crime rate is increasing. If we look a little deep into this matter, we find the some politicians who are also involved in wrong doings.

Smuggling, killing, human trafficking all are serious crimes but no one is able to control them. Similarly, no one can stop a person from what he plans to do and we cannot control anyone’s internet usage also. Pus, BTC is a good thing.
It is different from the law for the outsider and law of their country. It is true that some of the laws that they made is not being followed by their fellow politicians but if the law is about something that they cannot hurt themselves and that is why they can stop bitcoin because no one can get hurt by that and the only thing that they need to do is to be against bitcoin. So they can easily stop bitcoin.

Sometimes I'm confused with the attitude of the government, if bitcoin is useful for its citizens why many countries are banned. although the government knows that bitcoin is a threat to fiat money, it is time to give clear rules that give us certainty.

That is the problem, because if they regulate bitcoin in any particular country then it means we have handed oyur finacial freedom back in their hands , the very freedom bitcoin seeks to bring us. They will centralize it if they get the chance and with that happening then we are better off using our good old fiats.

They can make an order to stop but they cannot really stop bitcoin. If they do, it will still slip through their rulings somewhere. It is like implementing death penalty to decrease crime rate but the fact is, according to survey, those countries who have death penalty has a higher crime rate than those who dont have.

I think the worst they can do is to make it difficult to use Bitcoin but they cannot stop it entirely. Banning exchanges and some individuals within their jurisdiction can make Bitcoin trading difficult but it doesn't mean I cannot sell to a foreign exchange who will then wire it to me in fiat in my country.
You have a point there because bitcoin is now becoming more useful to many of us. We don't even know who's behind this succeeding currency and I think it will be hard for the governments to stop bitcoin. They are just waiting their time with that rubbish attitude and unjust act to people. Instead of stopping why not accepting it in each countries so thta there will be no barriers in exchanging money. The more it is accessible the more it becomes successful.

Of course they can stop it, they are the law makers if they knew that bitcoin is a threat to their economy they will take actions. You can not operate bitcoin without the government's permit
You are theoretically right, but why the bitcoin is breaking the law or not going into the interests of the state if it itself recognizes the potential profit for the whole nation.

I don't think the government can stop the bitcoin, but if the government try to deal or stop on it. It cause so much effort than solving a other kind of crime. Much better if they solve first the terrorism than bitcoin as well. Besides, the bitcoin is not unlawful use of violence.  What do you think?

Governments made it illegal to pirate music, movies, and others media, but did it stop the world? No. As long as the internet is running, people will find way to use digital currencies, no matter what the authorities say

To a certain extent, governments can do it. Let us just try to speculate here. If each and every government is really bent on killing bitcoin and they would agree with one another that they would all make bitcoin illegal in their respective governments, they can do it. But bitcoin would just have to go underground. They might cause exchange platforms to die but they would not totally do it to bitcoin itself.
