Does that even make sense with the current transaction times and fees? You are going to pay more for the fees than for your meal. Unless the fees go down drastically, it makes no sense to use bitcoin as a daily payment method.
I think it is time that everyone stop dreaming these kind of things with bitcoin, you cannot make a small transaction with  bitcoin and never expect to make when the price of bitcoin keeps climbing to new all time highs,it would be a great addition when they accepted bitcoin earlier but now i am not interested anymore simply because of the transaction charges.
There is an easy option, why not convert btc to fiat to buy foods. Just because of the transaction charge is much too high. Their objective are good to accept btc as mode of payment, but they must first solve on how to decrease the transaction fee.

This is amazing if good company accepts bitcoin as mode of payment for sure the value of bitcoin will increase, but still you will buy a burger with a high value in the future. Better to use fiat for me since the price of bitcoin wil surely pump higher.

That is amazing! I was thinking days ago about how nice would be McDonalds accepting Bitcoin and now I see these news. And about the high expensive fees I don't think it's a problem, there are alternatives. One alternative are the middleman services that will make the deals between buyers and sellers easier, other alternative I talked about on this thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.25100574
(No middlemen needed).

This is a great idea who accept bitcoin. In fact how fees rate? We will wait year 2018 and it's good for us if they will accept bitcoin and we use it in daily living. If mcdonald's accept bitcoin maybe any competitor may be the next to accept too.

Lol. Ridiculous.  No one wouldn’t want to pay more for the fees than the meal. I agree with every word you wrote 🙃

If it's true that such big companies like: Amazon and McDonalds will take bitcoins, then this really is a real breakthrough for this currency.

I'm not sure if that's gonna be true for the moment. Transactions fees would be very high. It would even cost you the whole order. Maybe they are gonna implement bitcoin for huge orders. But still the price would be high enough.

Well, that could be a good news for everybody. McDonalds is an international fast food chain and opens to other merchants to be part of a digital currency services in order to developed more easy and fast transactions indealing with the customer.

I agree, it will offer Bitcoin even more exposure. And not only to Bitcoin, but to crypto currencies in general. I think we win a alot by this.

Yup, it can be a good way for us to atleast enjoy our savings without hassle of whether to cash out or to hold still, the system needs to handle blockas as well as the delays.

It is very unfortunate that if there are terminals that take bitcoin, is an incredible high commission. It's like everyone wants to drive this "hypetrain" and take some money. Just for money-moment.

I tend not to believe publications like this until I actually see an announcement from the McDonalds website itself.

I don't see any links on this publication either, unless I am missing something? Is there some direct link to this that we can see somewhere where a McDonalds said about this? If it is true people would lose a lot on fees until the block size is raised to maybe 1.25MB or so.

It really a very good news. Many Big E-commerce players like Amazon is working to accept BTC as a payment mode. Even Departmental stores in South Africa are also planning to accept BTC as Payment. In such case, it is really nice to hear that one of the most popular food joint is also planning to accept BTC as payment. I feel that year 2018 will the a crucial year for BTC as in 2018, most nation will take a decision on legality of BTC.

It would be interesting to see people paying for their meals in McDonald's with Bitcoin. However, I don't think that it is the best time to introduce something likes this. Bitcoin becomes more and more popular. I'm not surprised that even such big companies are interested in earning on Bitcoin transactions. Unfortunately, Bitcoin transaction fees have been growing and they aren't cheap anymore for some people.

I think this might be possible, because bitcoin now is being used for different types of purposes including buying foods, so maybe mcdonalds will consider accepting bitcoin as payment for their services.

because of the nature of McDonalds services (food delivery as fast as possible (poor employees)) it is not possible without a LN  ... probably it is not true .. but it would be an interesting topic to "The economist" to make a
parity of bitcoin direct into the Big Mac Index http://www.economist.com/content/big-mac-index

When one of the world's largest restaurant chains proclaim its intention to accept bitcoin as a payment method, we have to expect the good impact on cryptocurrency market.

But it is only a rumor and nothing confirmed yet.

Before we can see big companies accepting bitcoin, many problems should be solved first such as high transaction fees which can be more expensive than a hamburger, also a transaction should not take that long to be confirmed.

I know that bitcoin born as cryptocurrency that can change cash as payment method online or offline. Recently bitcoin mostly being used for investment program so if we use bitcoin as daily payment i think its not good while we pay more in fee.
Is it really going to be used by McDonalds? If they are then the possibility of Bitcoin expanding is huge.

If it gets used by mcdonalds and other brands, this doesn't bring positivity to bitcoin communty. We don't care if it's used in reastraurants, rather than it, we care if it's getting used in economical stock markets such as nasdaq etc.

After Amazon, McDonalds is now accepting bitcoin as a way of payment by the coming year. I hope it's true not just a rumor. This will be a huge step in getting bitcoin involved in the society since McDonalds is part of most people lives and an international company.
Step by step, bitcoin popularity will spread and it will lead to considering it as an international currency that people around the world can use it without obstacles.
