Yes, the Merit is not for sale but it is a reward for everyone who are rewarded as a good members , active for participate in bitcoins forum, good performance and worthy in the sight of the modirator, they will be happy and share there merit to anyone if anyone are worthy to them. the merit is free for does have a points an reward.
Merit is not what you buy or sell, it's a reward given by those in higher ranks, to those who shares unique ideas, information, or for a good quality post worth deserving merit.
I'm learning to work my ass off like you said to earn merits but I'll be losing if I told you I'm not scared if the process would be abused. We are humans and sometimes slave to our emotions, even with quality posts you might still get overlooked. I have seen lot of people here with required number of activities but only merit stopping them from ranking up. I bid luck to be on my side though, I'm just starting out.
I hope everybody would be fair about this new feature implemented by admin theymos.

Getting merit is very tough as of now as I see sMerit is in scarcity now. Sending merit to the other people who really deserves merit but you yourself doesn't receive anything feels like very unfair. Well, by this kind of stuff theymos created is indeed useful, we would see a more quality post nowadays unlike wayback before ranking up is easy even if you post something out of content or what we call shitpost. People who are really eager to get promoted will probably will work harder than they usually do.

On local boards there are much more Merit sellers. There was people who got 20 or even 50 Merit for a low quality posts, it's obvious abuse of Merit system. Both, buyer and seller has to be reported to DT members and they will give them red trust rating.

In any case, everyone decides for himself
Even if they insist on doing those, just a few years and then they will have no source where they can get merits that they needed because it is all used up. These buyer sand sellers of merits are still the one who will lose and give up in the end.

Merit is created and a new rule in this forum for us members to be more creative, imaginative, and be more logical and informative when it comes to posting a comments in every thread. We have to work hard for it even if it takes months or more for us members to recieve one merit. We have to be fair for everybody and for ourselves as well. Don't worry about merit, focussed on how to construct your post and making it informational or unique ideas that you thought might be helpful to others, doing that will earn you merit.
Ya exactly I mean, we can get merit from the quality of ourselves post, if the others things that your post was helpful, meaningful and have it own knowledge people will give you tho. Imagine if you buy some merit but you don't have those skill to make a good quality post it same mean nothing.
merit is an appreciation for every person who makes the thread constructively and qualitatively, so if anyone sells the merit is breaking the rules and has gone out of purpose making the merit itself ...

I understand that merit is an award given to members for making posts of above average quality. But I hope everybody is given a fair share when it comes to decision of evaluating what are above average posts should be.
What is the point of getting merits when you dont actually contribute anything to the community. I mean, admins cannot do anything about selling these because they cannot detect it with artificial intelligence.

Point is higher rank, higher rank earn more in signature campaign, point is making money.
I respect op and his post, but we can't do anything about it. Accounts are not for sale too, but its happening everyday. People who trade with accounts and merits are doing that on other place, that's why it's hard to catch them. In meta section you can find many threads about people who do that and how they do that. I'm not so active there, but from time to time I like to read what is happening, its good to be informed in this times about everything.
